First Appearance Chapter 5

Background / History

Kenjaku survived for over a thousand years by possessing successive bodies. Across that time, he transformed powerful sorcerers and Cursed Spirits into Cursed Objects, preserving them for reincarnation in later eras. His long-term objective was to assimilate Tengen with every non-sorcerer in the Island Nation and create an ultimate Cursed Spirit from the Cursed Energy of one hundred million people. 91 95 114

While occupying Noritoshi Kamo, Kenjaku performed the experiments that fused humans and Cursed Spirits, including the creation of the Cursed Womb Death Paintings. The historical Noritoshi Kamo was blamed after Kenjaku abandoned that identity. 203

As a Kamo elder, he fed a Sukuna Finger to a curse intended for Satoru Gojo's training, creating the Special Grade Half-Body Vengeful Spirit. The incident instead revealed Eiji's successful subjugation of Mahoraga, drawing Kenjaku's interest. 5

Kenjaku later assaulted Jujutsu High during the Star Plasma Vessel incident. He fought Eiji with Special Grade Cursed Spirits and Vast Endowment, but summoned Yamato no Orochi to delay his opponents and escaped. 94 95

Following Tengen's seclusion and Riko Amanai's reported death, Kenjaku considered the situation a long-awaited success. He established a Binding Vow with Yuji Itadori, made Yuji forget their meeting, and selected him as a potential trump card against the Six Eyes. 104

Unable to act freely during a nationwide manhunt, Kenjaku left the Island Nation and created experimental barriers around isolated villages in northern India. There, he cultivated Lovecraftian-style Imaginary Vengeful Spirits through fear, superstition, and concentrated Cursed Energy, then sealed a completed Special Grade specimen into a Cursed Object. 261 262 263

Appearance

Kenjaku's appearance changes with the body he possesses, but stitched seams across the forehead repeatedly expose his identity to those familiar with him. 114 393

  • Occupied Kamo Family bodies for access to Blood Manipulation and political cover. 104 280
  • Was documented occupying Suguru Geto's body while commanding Special Grade Cursed Spirits. 277
  • Later abandoned a Kamo body after being critically wounded and used a replacement body with a stealth-oriented technique. 450
  • His true main body is described as neither fully living nor a Cursed Object, possessing traits of both. 477

Personality

Kenjaku is driven by curiosity, experimentation, and acquisition. His interests center on exploring the possibilities of Cursed Energy, collecting rare Cursed Spirits and Cursed Objects, and engineering conditions that produce new phenomena. 393

He is calculating rather than reckless, routinely gathering intelligence, arranging contingencies, and retreating when a battle no longer benefits his goals. He nevertheless becomes openly possessive when a newly acquired Cursed Spirit or desired technique is threatened. 94 277 283

His cruelty is clinical. Kenjaku treats people, villages, Cursed Spirits, and even potential sorcerers as research material, discarding them once they cease to be useful. 203 262

Abilities & Skills

Brain-Swapping Cursed Technique

Kenjaku's innate technique allows him to possess bodies and survive across centuries.

  • He can use his own body-swapping technique, the technique of his current vessel, and the technique of the body he possessed immediately before it. 280
  • The previous vessel's technique is lost when he changes bodies again. 280
  • His altered brain grants him an unusually short period of Cursed Technique Severance after Domain Expansion. 412
  • The technique appears to have transformed Kenjaku himself into a persistent entity with properties of both living beings and Cursed Objects. 477

Blood Manipulation

While using Kamo Family vessels, Kenjaku employs an extensively developed form of Blood Manipulation. 280

  • Fires supersonic Hundred Binding: Piercing Blood projectiles. 279
  • Forms weapons and restraints, including Blood Blade and Aka-shibari. 279 411
  • Uses Crimson Scale Leap: Carry to dramatically enhance his physical combat ability. 411
  • Creates blood armor and uses Reverse Cursed Technique to offset the technique's blood-loss drawback. 281

Anti-Gravity Mechanism

A retained technique from Kaori Itadori's body, later lost after Kenjaku changed vessels. 280 450

  • Its normal application cancels gravity and greatly improves mobility. 281
  • Its reversed application generates gravity, allowing Kenjaku to disrupt water attacks, redirect projectiles, and pin enemies down. 280 282 418
  • It was particularly effective in conjunction with his close-quarters combat. 281

Domain Expansion: Vast Endowment

Vast Endowment is Kenjaku's open Domain Expansion, represented by a twisted tree covered in distorted faces. 95 326

  • Its sure-hit effect can nullify incoming attacks with equivalent counterattacks. 409
  • Its open structure can attack the exterior of conventional Domains rather than being confined by a closed barrier. 95 410
  • Kenjaku used it against Eiji, Suguru Geto, Mahito, and Satoru Gojo. 95 281 409 460
  • Sustained Domain combat heavily drains his Cursed Energy and can force a retreat. 283 411

Barrier Techniques and Summoned Spirit Arts

Kenjaku possesses highly advanced Barrier Techniques and can approximate aspects of Cursed Spirit Manipulation through complicated preparations. 196 326

  • Constructed large-scale barriers that retain Cursed Energy, track movement, and isolate experimental sites. 261 262
  • Uses Curtains to suppress shadows, restrict entry, and interfere with summoned spirits. 280
  • Stores armies of Cursed Spirits in compressed barrier spaces. 410
  • Controlled Cursed Spirits through Binding Vows and summoned-spirit contracts before acquiring more suitable vessels. 283 326

Reverse Cursed Technique

Kenjaku can rapidly repair otherwise fatal physical damage.

  • Regenerated a severed arm and healed wounds inflicted by Mahoraga. 95
  • Repeatedly repaired his hands while fighting Suguru Geto at close range. 411
  • His healing and combat endurance allow him to continue fighting through severe injuries, though prolonged Domain battles still exhaust him. 281 411
