Background / History
Master Kongming is a Dazhao Temple monk and disciple of Venerable Huafa, a Three Treasures Arhat Realm expert. He was reputedly among Buddhism's foremost figures in teachings and Divine Abilities over twenty years earlier. Dazhao Temple was later devastated in a Heavenly Demon attack that killed Huafa and left the temple in ruins; Kongming was away during the attack. 356 358 405 412
He remained within the heart of a Heavenly Demon to restrain the Heavenly Demon Bead. The burden of maintaining its seal left him unable to deal directly with the monsters and Earthbound Spirits gathering in the village above. He believed that, without Zhou Yi's arrival and assistance, he would eventually have become “a pile of dry bones.” 214 225
Appearance
Master Kongming is a monk whose bearing can shift from transcendent and imposing to that of an unremarkable wandering monk. He commonly sits cross-legged with his hands clasped in prayer. 214 260
- Wears a moon-white monk's robe while traveling. 237
- Uses a kasaya that releases golden light during his sealing rites. 219
- His golden Buddha manifestation bears his own face. 219 237
- Possesses a vast, majestic aura when he does not conceal it. 215 237
Personality
Kongming is calm, patient, and compassionate. He treats Zhou Yi as a “benefactor,” answers his cultivation questions carefully, and prioritizes the safety of Zhou Yi's Dragon and Elephant over the urgency of sealing the Heavenly Demon Bead. 215 217 238
He is also guarded about information concerning the Heavenly Demon, repeatedly declining to explain matters he claims “cannot be spoken.” His restraint is paired with a strong sense of duty: he continues reinforcing the Heavenly Demon Bead's seal despite severe exhaustion and accepts the possibility of sacrificing himself to prevent another catastrophe. 214 225 245 258
Abilities & Skills
Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill
Kongming has cultivated the forbidden Divine Ability to an exceptionally high level, producing golden energy far purer and denser than Zhou Yi's.
- Generates flame-like golden energy and countless golden light particles. 215 219
- Summons Dragon and Elephant constructs capable of fusing with the Dragon and Elephant Bones. 215 216
- Forms a golden Buddha bearing his likeness from the skill's energy. 219
- Creates and rides a colossal golden Giant Dragon for high-speed aerial travel. 235 236
- His control of the skill surpasses Zhou Yi's tenth-layer mastery by a vast margin. 405
Heavenly Demon Bead Sealing
Kongming is the primary guardian of the Heavenly Demon Bead within the Heavenly Demon's heart.
- Shapes his golden flame into an inscribed golden sphere to form the first seal. 219
- Establishes a second layer of sealing when the bead resists containment. 223
- Continually reinforces the seal after demonic energy leaks through damaged sections. 245
- Uses a treasure box to contain the sealed Heavenly Demon Bead after recovering sufficient spiritual energy. 224
- The process severely depletes him, leaving him pale and exhausted after the seal is stabilized. 223 224
Buddhist Divine Techniques
Kongming employs several high-level Buddhist techniques beyond direct combat.
- Breaks through the Heavenly Demon's heart and returns himself and Zhou Yi to the village. 226
- Projects visions that allow Zhou Yi to witness past events connected to Middle Snake Temple and the Heavenly Demon Bead. 214 245
- Creates a pale-golden human sacred aura using chanting and rotating golden Runes. 237
- Recalls and dissipates his Giant Dragon through a specialized technique. 260
- Conceals his Dao Integration aura so completely that he appears to be an ordinary person. 260
Cultivation Knowledge
Kongming serves as a major source of cultivation knowledge for Zhou Yi.
- Explains the realms beyond Embrace Dan: Condense Dan, Manifestation, Spirit Transformation, Dao Integration, and Three Flowers Gathering at the Peak. 238 239 241
- Teaches that Dao Integration concerns finding one's own martial path. 241
- Explains that Forbidden Divine Abilities choose compatible Warriors and identifies Zhou Yi's extraordinary compatibility with the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill. 242 243
- Advises that cultivation and Forbidden Divine Abilities are complementary, and neither should be neglected. 245

Story Role / Major Arcs
Heavenly Demon's Heart
Zhou Yi encounters Kongming in the heart of a Heavenly Demon, where the monk recognizes Zhou Yi's connection to Middle Snake Temple and the Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill. Kongming initially seeks Zhou Yi's Golden Flame to seal the Heavenly Demon Bead, but withdraws the request after discovering that Zhou Yi has already cultivated the skill to the tenth layer. 213 214 215

Afterward, he explains that demonic energy leaking from the bead transformed lingering souls into Earthbound Spirits and corrupted the village's inhabitants. 216 219 223 225
Journey from the Weird Village
After leaving the Heavenly Demon's heart, Kongming allows Zhou Yi to test his newly strengthened Dragon-Elephant Prajna Skill against the village's Earthbound Spirits. He later summons his Giant Dragon, carries Zhou Yi and his horse through the sky, and teaches Zhou Yi about sacred auras, martial realms, Forbidden Divine Abilities, and the importance of a strong cultivation foundation. 226 228 236 237 242 245 266
