Background / History

Qu Yong once saved Du Wei's life. When Zhou Yi arrives in Luoshi City carrying Qu Yong's letter, Du Wei immediately agrees to arrange his entry into the Provincial Governor's Office and asks Zhou Yi to address him as “Uncle Du” rather than “Captain Du.” 35

As Zhou Yi's superior, Du Wei explains the Provincial Governor's Office hierarchy, its promotion system based on Weirdness Points, and the political alignment between its courtyards. He also equips Zhou Yi with his entry permit and uniform, then personally provides a route map for his first solo patrol. 36 40

Du Wei privately possesses the minor Divine Ability Netherworld White Bone, recorded on a piece of cloth hidden beneath a floor tile in his home. Though he has spent years unable to advance beyond the late Vitality Realm, he entrusts the Divine Ability to Zhou Yi in repayment for Qu Yong's life-saving grace. 74 75

During the worsening Weirdness crisis in Luoshi City, Du Wei patrols despite overwork and manpower shortages. He rescues civilians from a Crimson Grade Weirdness, then faces a tentacled Weirdness that absorbs the dead and cannot be harmed by his attacks. Recognizing that he cannot win, he retreats and calls Xie Yun with a Signal Talisman. 97 98

After Luoshi City's crisis, Du Wei finds the opening to advance and reaches the Embrace Dan Realm through Netherworld White Bone, finally achieving the realm he had pursued for years. 183

Personality

Du Wei is protective of Zhou Yi and quickly treats him as family because of his debt to Qu Yong. He guides Zhou Yi through the Provincial Governor's Office, assigns him safer patrol areas, gives practical advice, and supports Zhou Yi's decision to conceal his Embrace Dan Realm breakthrough. 40 42 100

He is experienced enough to prioritize survival over pride. When confronted with a Weirdness he cannot defeat, he retreats, calls for an Embrace Dan Realm expert, and follows Xie Yun's instructions to warn other Vitality Realm martial artists. 98
