Background

The Three Pure Ones are Taiqing, Yuanshi, and Tongtian—three beings born from Pangu's Primordial Spirit. Their origin granted them extraordinary talent, immense Destiny, and a lasting karmic connection to both Pangu and the Heavenly Dao. They regarded themselves as Pangu's legitimate descendants and considered the Ancestor Witches, who originated from Pangu's essence blood, beneath them. 117 288

Before becoming Saints, they established a grand formation on Kunlun Mountain to test prospective listeners. Those who passed could enter Jade Void Palace and hear their exposition of the Great Dao; Cihang was among those who succeeded, later becoming Yuanshi's disciple. 1

Personality

Though bound by common origin and brotherhood, the Three Pure Ones embody fundamentally incompatible Great Daos:

• Taiqing follows a detached, non-interfering Dao resembling the Heavenly Dao's indifference.

Taiqing repeatedly attempted to mediate the conflict between Yuanshi and Tongtian, partly to preserve the Three Pure Ones' collective authority. Kunlun and the Founding of the Three Teachings

The Three Pure Ones preached at Jade Void Palace on Kunlun Mountain and tested cultivators through a grand formation. After Taiqing's enlightenment through the Human Teachings, Yuanshi and Tongtian followed by establishing the Heavenly Origin Sect and Intercepting Sect. 1 157 158

Their enlightenment exposed the irreconcilable nature of their respective Great Daos. Taiqing attempted to balance Yuanshi and Tongtian's conflicting auras, but their Dao conflict could not be fully resolved. 158

Taiqing and Yuanshi's cooperation with the West against the Intercepting Sect convinced Tongtian that their brotherhood had become empty formality. Tongtian formally severed the Three Pure Ones' brotherhood, causing their shared Destiny and their sects' fortunes to fluctuate. 485

Tongtian then deployed the Immortal Slaying Sword Formation against Taiqing, Yuanshi, Jieyin, and Zhunti. His decision to shatter his Primordial Violet Qi freed his True Spirit and ended his status as a Heavenly Dao Saint. 487 492 493

Reconciliation and Withdrawal

After the Heavenly Dao's consciousness was suppressed, Taiqing and Yuanshi sincerely apologized to Tongtian. The three restored their familial bond, returned to Kunlun, and resumed verifying their Daos together, though their conflicting Great Daos still made coexistence difficult. 545 559

They ultimately relinquished their remaining Saint Positions, passed on their sects, and withdrew into the outer Chaos to seek a new Dao beyond the Great Desolation. 560

Pangu's Resurrection

Unable to break through despite their cultivation, the Sanqing accepted Cihang's explanation that their Pangu-derived Karma prevented transcendence.
