Personality

Mu Qingling is proud, principled, and unwilling to submit to humiliation. Although she considered becoming Lin Yun'er's maid to protect the Mu family, she refused because she believed Lin Yun'er was unworthy of such submission 135. She initially accepted blame for the Mu family's suffering after defeating Lin Yun'er, but openly rejected later attempts to use her as a scapegoat 134 137.

Her loyalty to her family is uncompromising. She returned to Jinling City after years away, intervened when her father and mother were endangered, and decisively destroyed the Mu family faction that had usurped power and collaborated with the Gu Ling Sect 158 162 163.

Repeated setbacks tempered her earlier confidence. History

Cangyun Empire Prodigy

At nineteen, Mu Qingling was already a Nascent Soul Middle Stage cultivator and had surpassed Lin Yun'er, formerly considered Cangyun Empire's number-one genius. Her victory made her Lin Yun'er's sworn enemy, however, and the Imperial family's backing allowed Lin Yun'er to persecute both Mu Qingling and the Mu family 132 133.

When her grandfather died, Mu Qingling sought a sect patron to protect her family. Political pressure from the Imperial family ensured that the major sects rejected her. Within her own family, she was ostracized, stripped of her direct-descendant status, and relegated to a dilapidated courtyard because the clan blamed her for Lin Yun'er's retaliation 132 134.

Becoming Su Chen's Disciple

Su Chen encountered Mu Qingling after the recruitment convention and offered her a month to prove herself worthy of becoming his disciple. Seeing him as the Mu family's only chance, she brought him home and accepted his instruction in Sword Dao and Spiritual Energy control 133 134 135.

Su Chen formally accepted her as his first disciple, making her the Lingxiao Sect's Eldest Senior Sister. He then remodeled her Sacred Body, an ordeal she endured despite intense pain 141. Over the following decade, she travelled the Eastern Region with him, advancing from Nascent Soul Middle Stage to Late Void Refinement Stage and reaching the third level of Sword Intent 142.

Setback and Return to Jinling City

Mu Qingling demonstrated her extraordinary combat power by instantly killing Yang Yunhai, a Late Integration cultivator, while only at Void Refinement Perfection. Her subsequent defeat by Su Ping Tian shattered her belief that she was invincible among peers, but she resolved to stop comparing herself to other prodigies and instead cultivate steadily 154 155 157.

When she returned to Jinling City, she found that Mu Xin, Mu Li, and Mu Geng had seized control of the Mu family and harmed her parents. Mu Qingling killed Zhao Rong and Mu Li, incapacitated Mu Xin and Mu Geng, and restored authority to Patriarch Mu Hua 162 163.

The Gu Ling Sect then attempted to sacrifice Jinling City through the Blood Refining Great Array. Mu Qingling killed Zhao Heng, the Pale Face Scholar, and the remaining Gu Ling Sect leadership, saving the city and establishing the Mu family's renewed reputation 164 165 166.

Senior Disciple of Lingxiao Sect

After reaching Body Integration Realm Perfection and the fourth level of Sword Intent, Mu Qingling travelled to the Xiao family on Su Chen's behalf to accept Xiao Yan as a disciple. She recognized his exceptional flame affinity and accepted him as her junior brother despite expecting his talent to eventually surpass her own 168 170.

She later served as Eldest Senior Sister to Han Li, whose cultivation began far below hers when they first met 264. As an Early Immortal Lord, she fought the Lingyun Sect alone, killing its Ninth Elder and severely injuring both its Third Elder and Sect Master Qiu Qian despite their superior realms 343 344.

Qing Tian Realm Pursuit

After reaching Quasi-Immortal Emperor, Mu Qingling fled from the Kunpeng Realm to the Qing Tian Realm following a conflict with a powerful young master. Jiang He pursued her alongside two Immortal Emperors, forcing her into the Myriad Beast Divine Mountain 407 411.

She used the golden spirit bamboo to form a decoy and targeted Jiang He as a possible bargaining chip. Although she left him barely alive to delay his protectors, she became trapped in a sealed grand array within the mountain and learned from Bai Ze that escape required reaching the God Realm or acquiring a token to contact Lingbao Heavenly Venerate 411 413 414. After leaving the mountain, she nearly cleaved Jiang He in two when he confronted her again 417.

Resurrection

At a later point, Mu Qingling died. Su Chen used an Advanced Rebirth Card to resurrect her, arranging for her rebirth in Green Wave City 673. Upon being reborn, she again acknowledged Su Chen as her master; her previous life's ultimate cultivation had reached Half-step Dao Master 675.
