Background / History

Li Jieyuan opened the Academy as an alternative to pursuing the imperial examinations, accepting Xin Shisi Niang as a student after declining her father’s marriage proposal. Its early educational model emphasized learning rather than social origin. 100

Under its former identity as Guo Bei Academy, it accepted students without discrimination and taught agriculture, craftsmanship, medicine, and other “miscellaneous” disciplines alongside cultivation. Its engineering department developed concrete, while its agricultural and medical programs trained specialist practitioners. 126

The Academy’s official history teaches that its founder, Li Liuxian, sacrificed himself alongside Xuanyuan to destroy a world-threatening demon. Afterward, Guo Bei Academy was renamed Myriad Dao Academy, and the Daoist lineages of the world came under its authority. 163

Golden Turtle Island became the Academy’s spiritual land during its early transformation. Xu Yang cultivated an Earth Deity Divine Seal there over more than six hundred years, managed its earth veins and Feng Shui, raised spirit beasts, planted spiritual materials, and relocated the Academy to the island. 166

Before ascension was suspended, the Academy had produced nearly three thousand Nascent Soul cultivators through Soul Cultivation, the Grand Ceremony of Luo Tian, and its institutional support. None of those ascendants returned or sent word from the Upper Realm, leaving ascension regarded as dangerous and uncertain. 338

Education & Cultivation

Educational Principles

  • The Academy’s stated principle is teaching without discrimination, accepting students from diverse backgrounds and transmitting cultivation knowledge broadly. 126 297
  • Its later Human Cult doctrine holds that “all living beings can become human,” extending its educational mission beyond humanity alone. 726
  • History is the compulsory first lesson for students entering the Academy or its affiliated colleges. 163
  • The Academy combines teaching, research, development, production, cultivation, and creation as parts of one institutional system. 167

Core Scriptures

  • Dao Sutra — A supreme scripture created by integrating the ten great Daoist traditions and numerous inherited arts, including pill refining, talismans, artifacts, arrays, incantations, rituals, and Ghost God arts. 163
  • Martial Scripture — A collective work developed over a millennium and used as a foundation for martial cultivation and the establishment of Academy lineages. 163
  • Dao Sutra – Primordial Spirit Chapter and Dao Sutra – Void Returning Chapter — Later high-level releases combining Daoist-magic Soul Cultivation with Primordial Spirit cultivation. 264

Cultivation Methods

Method Description
Soul Cultivation Method Borrows collective or external power to cultivate the true self; described as a method left by Immortals and Gods. 163
Martial Path Cultivation Method Divided between internal and external martial arts; martial supernatural abilities can rival Daoist arts. 163
Spiritual Root Cultivation Method Uses a spiritual root to absorb primordial-spirit power from heaven and earth; the Academy researches artificial spiritual roots and transplantation. 163

Academic Structure

The former Guo Bei Academy maintained nine principal campuses. Four—Medicine, Agriculture, Industry, and Commerce—were not primarily combat-oriented, while Tianwu Daoist Academy, Shu Mountain Sword Academy, Military Martial General Academy, Dragon Script Talisman Academy, and Zhou Tian Array Academy fielded substantial combat-capable disciples. 132

Among the Academy’s later Ten Major Academies were:

  • Tianwu Academy — Physical cultivation and martial arts. 164
  • Mingxiao Daoist Academy — Daoist magic, particularly Lightning Daoist Magic. 164
  • Shu Shan Sword Academy — Sword arts and the Flying Immortal Divine Sword. 164
  • Heavenly Craftsman Institute — Artifact arts and Spirit Treasure Mechas. 164
  • Shennong Main Campus — Agricultural and productive work forming the Academy’s material base. 164

Assessments and Advancement

  • Traditional titles such as Daoist, True Person, True Lord, and Celestial Master became honorary certifications rather than cultivation realms. 163
  • The Academy adopted cultivation-realm terminology including Qi Refining, Foundation Establishment, Golden Core, and Nascent Soul. 163
  • The Grand Ceremony of Luo Tian is held every two years and can elevate cultivators to the sixth and seventh realms. 165 166
  • Great Ritual Battles held during the ceremony allow exceptional civilian cultivators to earn Cave Mansions and other rewards. 165

Governance, Law & Economy

Rule by Law

The Academy governs through codified laws, law-enforcement institutions, and public punishment. Xu Yang declared that merits and demerits would no longer cancel each other out, even for those who contributed after committing prior crimes. 298

Over five hundred years, the Academy’s legal system was reinforced through repeated prosecutions and executions of those who violated its laws. Its enforcement of a Garuda prince’s complaint was viewed as a test of whether its Rule by Law could bind even Cave Heaven deities. 488

  • The Enforcement Hall is a formal Academy institution marked by lightning runes. 302
  • The Immortal Slaying Platform is used for public executions of offenders ranging from Deity Transformation cultivators to Calamity Realm beings. 527
  • The Academy classifies designated hostile groups as Evil God Cults and prohibits incense sacrifices to them during wartime. 705

Contributions and Exchange

  • The Myriad Dao Life Token serves as a disciple’s identity credential and records Myriad Dao Contribution Points. 296
  • Contribution points can be exchanged for cultivation methods, pills, artifacts, talismans, arrays, spiritual resources, and residence privileges. 134 483
  • The Myriad Dao Tongtian Tower maintains the World’s Wind and Cloud Rankings, consisting of six principal rankings and more than one hundred subsidiary rankings. 296
  • The Myriad Dao Grand Competition occurs every three years, determining rankings and distributing benefits to participants. 296
  • The Academy purchases externally forged Nine-Ceremony Xuanyuan Swords, offering 500,000 contribution points for magic-treasure grade swords and 5,000,000 for Spirit Treasure grade versions. 484

Residency and Refuge

Students receive free accommodation for ten years. Permanent residence requires purchasing a Cave Mansion with magic currency or passing the True Person assessment for Academy allocation; students may also be assigned work or rotating duty at regional branches. 165

During the Dark Turmoil, the Academy constructed Cave Mansions throughout the Dao Domain for refugees of all races. Residents can earn Myriad Dao Points through combat, pill and artifact refinement, talisman crafting, array work, spiritual-plant cultivation, beast raising, or submitting unrecorded techniques. 722

Military & Technical Assets

Heavenly Craftsmanship Creation Method

The Heavenly Craftsmanship Creation Method integrates multiple Dao arts to build mechas that can be controlled as naturally as one’s limbs. Its rank corresponds to the grade of artifacts used; its Seventh-rank form can contend with Calamity Realm Immortals and Gods. 494

The Academy uses this method not only for warfare but also to drive research, artifact refinement, production, and large-scale mobilization. 340 531

Spirit Treasure and Immortal Spirit Mechas

  • Great Spirit Official of Heavenly Supervision — A Thirty Million Artifact Grade ace mecha built around the Five Manifestations Spirit Official Talisman. 165
  • White Jade Capital — A super-large Immortal Spirit Mecha and “Heavenly Palace Immortal City” prototype; its later design uses the Li Di Yan Guang Banner, sixty Five Elements components, 180,000 Five Elements Spirit Treasures, and 5.4 billion magic items. 495 666
  • Yinshan Prefecture — A super-large Ghost Machine Armor and Civilization Wonder created through the Heavenly Craftsmanship Creation Method. 666
  • Nine Ceremonies Heavenly Venerate — The Academy’s first documented High-Grade Immortal Spirit Mecha, possessing combat power comparable to a Tribulation Crossing Immortal. 370
  • Lawful Heavenly Punishment — An Eighth-rank mecha summoned by Xu Yang against the Brahma Sect. 705
  • Nine-Ceremony Xuanyuan — A unique Ninth-rank Sacred Sword used by Xu Yang in wartime. 705

Military Organization

The Academy’s civilization forces include Five Palaces Disciples, Twelve Towers personnel, Mingxiao Daoists, Heavenly Craftsman Masters, Shennong Spiritual Planters and Beast Tamers, Tianwu Generals, and Yinshan Ghosts and Gods. 666 667

At one point, its reserve of Five Elements Immortal Venerates exceeded one hundred units, with branch institutions across the world using them as strategic defensive forces. 705

Major Arcs

Unification of the World

After proclaiming the establishment of Myriad Dao Academy in the Dao Region, the Academy claimed authority over all forty-eight regions under heaven. 294 Through the Dao Sutra, Martial Scripture, rankings, and Grand Competitions, it recruited cultivators and talent from across the world. 297

Within thirty-three years, it took control of forty-five formerly abandoned regions and became the world’s dominant power. 297 The subsequent surrender of major Martial Domain sects completed another stage of its unification campaign. 303

Ascension Academy Plan

The Academy’s First Grand Assembly unanimously approved the Ascension Academy Plan. Thirty-six main academies, seventy-two branch academies, and 1,800 branch institutions were ordered to cooperate in forming the Ascension Academy. 339

The project was designed to transport millions of cultivators to the Earth Immortal Realm and support extended conquest and settlement beyond the lower realm. 340 358

Reorganization of the Federation

In a later reorganization, the Academy replaced the original Federal Authorities. District institutions and Cultivator Guilds were reorganized into Academy branches, while Guild Points were converted into Academy Credits. 479

The restructured Academy assumed responsibility for world security, social order, and the suppression of Evil God Cults and Heavenly Demon elements. 479 483

Cave Heaven Expansion

The Academy opened Blessed Lands, absorbed abandoned inheritances into its reserves, and made high-level techniques and immortal artifacts available through contribution-point exchanges. 486

Its conflict with the Garuda Clan demonstrated its intention to apply its laws to Cave Heaven deities. Captured Garuda cultivators were assigned to support the Academy’s pill-refining and artifact-refining operations after labor reform. 488 492

Establishment of the Human Cult

Following Xu Yang’s attainment of Dao at the extreme peak, the Academy established the Human Cult. Its stated purpose is to educate all living beings and contend with Immortal Buddhas and Sages for the right to teach the world. 726

The Human Cult’s creation attracted previously hesitant cultivators and reinforced the Academy’s role as a refuge and organizing power during the Dark Turmoil. 726 738

Demon-Extermination Campaign

The Academy mobilized Immortals and True beings for an assault on the Brahma Sect’s highest Divine Domain, the Great Freedom Heaven. 739 Xu Yang’s decision compelled cooperation from several major divine systems despite their reluctance and competing interests. 739
