Background and History

Daji first descended before the imprisoned Qin Jun in flowing snow-white robes and freed him from his chains. She addressed him as her lord, identified herself through her actions as his summoned protector, and subdued the Imperial Guards with overwhelming force, allowing Qin Jun to personally take revenge on them 1 2.

Unlike the human Daji described in Investiture of the Gods, she is a Nine-tailed Fox who had already assumed human form. She initially concealed her demonic aura so completely that even the Howling Celestial Dog believed her to be human 2 19. During Qin Jun's early journey, she carried him through the air, trained him in combat, instructed him in practical spiritual-power control, and protected him against foes far beyond his level 3 11 82.

Her presence became Qin Jun's principal deterrent during his rise. She crushed the Xuanling Sect's resistance with her aura, injured Cheng Zhan during the destruction of the Cheng Family, and flicked away a Golden Core Realm Gray Demonic Wolf with one finger 18 26 80.

Daji and Qin Jun's relationship gradually moved beyond that of summoner and subordinate. Though she loved him, she initially refused to become his until he surpassed her in strength, believing that indulging his desire too early would hinder his cultivation 183. After Qin Jun reached the Void Transformation Realm, their relationship became intimate and they practiced dual cultivation, including the Nine-tailed Fox Nirvana Dual Cultivation 335.

As Qin Jun established the Great Qin Heavenly Court, Daji served as Sacred Empress and managed Sacred Emperor Peak. She participated in court life from the Phoenix Chair and took responsibility for the stability of Qin Jun's harem 581 643 682. Her concern that her cultivation no longer matched Qin Jun's prompted him to repeatedly strengthen her through God and Demon Peak recovery, Limit Awakening, and the Ice Water Great Dao Legacy 660 1279 1451.

Daji is the mother of Tian Yun. Daji combines an enchanting, teasing manner with fierce protectiveness toward Qin Jun. She can smile sweetly while delivering threats, reacts harshly to men who leer at her, and shows little patience for enemies who endanger her lord 2 4 17.

Despite her reputation in myth, this version of Daji is not characterized by the malice associated with her later Shang Dynasty fate. The System explains that she was summoned before being sent to the Shang Dynasty; without Nuwa's command, she retained her original disposition 137.

She is emotionally perceptive and pragmatic. Daji delayed consummating her relationship with Qin Jun specifically because she wanted him to remain focused on becoming stronger, rather than becoming complacent through devotion to her 183.
