Li Yuanba is described by the System as an evolution of the historical Li Xuanba and the reincarnation of the Golden-Winged Great Peng Bird. In unofficial legends, he was an unmatched Sui–Tang warrior whose twin hammers made him a one-man army; the System summons him after his Golden Peng bloodline awakens through lightning. 109

Before serving Qin Jun openly, Li Yuanba was an orphan who remembered Qin Jun giving him food when he had nowhere to go. He calls Qin Jun his benefactor and pledges allegiance after slaughtering the beast tide threatening a city. 112 113

In his former life, Li Yuanba was drawn into the Great War of Investiture of the Gods as the Golden-Winged Great Peng Bird. His elder brother Kong Xuan was subdued while protecting him, prompting Li Yuanba to cultivate in seclusion in hopes of one day rescuing him. 346
