Snape: Miss Granger Earns Twenty Points for Stirring a Cauldron with Her Left Hand (12,000 Words)
Dumbledore was not surprised. In the past year and a half of observation, he believed he had figured out everything about his "Golden Boy".
"Few young wizards your age possess the courage you have, Harry," Dumbledore a smile.
Harry thought to himself, "If I were still the second-year student I was a hundred years ago, I wouldn't even have a chance against Basilisk, let alone the Cassandra."
"Thank you for your compliment, Professor," Harry replied with a smile.
Just then, Phineas Black returned to his picture frame.
Upon seeing Harry, he greeted him with a smile, "Hello, Potter."
Harry turned his head, surprised that Phineas would greet him first.
He thought that Phineas didn't want to talk to him anymore after that Polyjuice Potion incident.
"Hello, Headmaster Black," Harry replied.
Phineas smiled maliciously, put on his nightcap, and climbed into bed.
Dumbledore assumed they had known each other before in the Headmaster's Office, so he didn't think much of it and said with a smile, "Oh, it seems you two already knew each other—how strange, Phineas, this is the first time I've seen you greet students from other houses."
"After all, he's an outstanding student at our school, don't you think, Potter?" Phineas said meaningfully.
"Thank you for your kind words, Professor Black," Harry replied politely and with great poise.
Seeing the impeccable manners of his former student, Phineas turned over with great satisfaction and drifted off to sleep.
"It seems he admires you, Harry." Dumbledore somewhat suspicious, but didn't think much of it. "This is the first time I've seen Phineas admire a student outside of Slytherin House so much—you're the first."
"Perhaps he can discover my unique strengths." Harry raised an eyebrow. "That's exactly what a qualified Headmaster needs to do."
Dumbledore chuckled and shook his head, saying, "Oh no, Harry, you might not know, but Phineas didn't have a very good reputation when he was Headmaster..."
"Is that so?" Harry smiled noncommittally, thinking that Phineas was indeed a bit annoying, but in fact he had done many things that even the Headmaster could not.
One aspect was uniting the Four Houses, and another was that the level of Hogwarts graduates during his Headmaster was far superior to that of today.
From a purely results-oriented perspective, Phineas was actually Dumbledore.
When we were in school, everyone thought that a happy education was good, but when it came to exams or encountering Dark Wizard, we realized how precious it was to just sweat a little in school.
Dumbledore wasn't one to speak ill of others to their face or behind their back, and he didn't bring up Harry Copefinias's dark past.
He made up an excuse to send Harry out of the Headmaster's Office.
After leaving the Headmaster's Office, Harry returned to his dormitory.
Sitting on his bed in the dormitory, he was still racking his brains trying to figure out where the Chamber of Secrets was.
He thought about it all night and didn't sleep until the next morning.
"Oh, Melina," Ron remarked, "Bro, your eyes are so dark."
"Yes, like that panda in the Muggle zoo," Seamus added. "I think you need a break, Harry."
As he spoke, he looked up and glanced at the calendar.
"Congratulations, it's Tuesday—but you'll have to wait until the afternoon to get a chance to sleep."
Seamus was referring to the History of Magic, since it would be a real shame not to sleep in Professor Binns's class.
This morning was the long Defense Against the Dark Arts. Harry arrived at the Great Hall yawning and ate his breakfast somewhat listlessly and sluggishly.
He was carefully weighing the solutions he had come up with the night before.
He now had two options. The first option was to find the Chamber of Secrets and eliminate the Basilisk. The advantage of doing so was that it would quickly extinguish the threat in Hogwarts, but the disadvantage was also obvious: the diary would continue to lie dormant and might suddenly jump out like a groundhog and bite someone.
The second plan was to lure the snake out of its hole, making Voldemort, who was hiding in the shadows, believe that Dumbledore had left the school and that martial law had been lifted—but the downside was that Harry was worried that Voldemort would use the Basilisk to cause a great deal of destruction and go completely insane.
Harry was also distracted while eating, and it wasn't until he felt a bitter taste in his mouth that he belatedly came back to his senses.
"Here." Ron handed him a mirror, his shoulders twitching as if he was about to burst out laughing.
Hermione did the same, covering her mouth and watching Harry with a leisurely air.
Harry picked up a mirror and looked at himself, only to find that his lips were stained black with ink.
"Good heavens, Harry," Ron laughed exaggeratedly, "We called you just now and you didn't even react, you were even dipping fries into Percy's ink bottle... What were you thinking about? You were so engrossed!"
"Haha..." Harry laughed, but when he grinned, his teeth were stained black with ink.
After he finished cleaning with the Charms, he took some more ketchup.
"I'm thinking about some important things." Harry didn't intend for them to participate in such a dangerous activity, and simply said casually, "I'm thinking about what I'll have you guys doing at the next Dueling Club— "
"Didn't you say we were going to have some real-world practice?" Ron said with a smile. "The Unlimited Charms Tournament—is that what it's called? I'm very interested."
"I hope you'll be able to laugh then." Hermione rolled her eyes at Ron; her woman's intuition told her that Harry wasn't hiding anything good.
Today's Defense Against the Dark Arts is still a four-in-one-two large class, meaning that the four houses are combined into one large class with two lessons combined into one.
After such a long period of study, everyone has gained a deep understanding of Professor Lockhart's abilities.
With his strong abilities, humor, good looks, and status as a star author, it's hard not to like such a cool professor.
While sitting in the classroom, the students began to chat enthusiastically, discussing what they would be learning that day.
Everyone eagerly anticipates Professor Lockhart's teaching—the students always feel frustrated whenever they think about the curse associated with the Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor position.
Next year's Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor may not be as excellent as Professor Lockhart...
Just then, Professor Lockhart also came out of his office.
He still sported his signature smile, leaning against the railing and charming everyone.
If this were done in the first class, some people might have found it disgusting—but now almost no one thinks that way anymore.
Isn't it normal for a powerful wizard to have a few quirks?
"It's great to see you all again. It's been a whole week since I last gave you a lecture... Hmm, let me see."
Professor Lockhart, smiling, leaned on the railing and said to everyone, "In this class, I need to ask you a few questions—about what we learned recently."
"I need to remind you that if you make a mistake, I will deduct points from your score without hesitation."
Upon hearing this, the students let out a series of mournful cries.
Oh my god, they're going to deduct points again?
"However, if you can answer my question correctly—" Professor Lockhart looked around, "Then I will give your college extra points."
"Yay!" The students burst into cheers.
So it turns out there are points added as well as points deducted; that's good.
"Come on, we have to get started—you don't need to raise your hands, I'm just randomly checking your progress."
Professor Lockhart raised his head and selected a student to answer the question.
"Mr. Longbottom," he said, looking at Neville who had his head bowed, as he walked to his side, "Don't worry, don't be nervous—the question I'm going to ask you is... what type of spell does Inferi fear most?"
Upon hearing this question, Neville felt much more at ease.
He was quite nervous at first, but this problem... he had seen Seamus solve this problem with his own eyes, so how could he forget that big eyeball that made Malfoy scream?
"It's a fire Charms, Professor," Neville answered clearly.
Professor Lockhart clapped his hands. "Very good, Mr. Longbottom, very good—two points Gryffindor!"
"It seems Mr. Longbottom has studied well," Professor Lockhart said with a smile, patting Neville on the shoulder and gesturing for him to sit down. "I'm glad you were able to review what you've learned before—as the saying goes, reviewing what you've learned before can bring new insights, and I hope you can do that."
"Next question... well, Mr. Nott," Professor Lockhart addressed Theodore Nott of Slytherin, "Try to name three fire-type Charms?"
Without hesitation, Nott replied, "Incendio (Blazing Flames), Confringo (Confringo), and Bombarda (Big Bomb), Professor."
"Very good, a perfect answer, Mr. Nott, please have a seat. Slytherin, two points." Professor Lockhart nodded and called on another student, "Hmm... Miss Eibon, please describe the characteristics of the Hogwarts."
"Hogwarts (creatures similar to Elf, larger than Goblin, averaging three feet tall, with long, pointed faces, and a particular fondness for the smell of children)," Hannah Abe stood up and answered fluently, "The harsh squeals of Hogwarts are so captivating that they lure children away from their guardians and then devour them."
"Very good," Professor Lockhart gestured for Hannah to sit down. "Very good, Miss Eibon —two points for Hufflepuff."
"Then, Mr. Boot," Lockhart gestured for Terry Boot of Ravenclaw to stand up, "Please tell me, how should we deal with the Hogwarts?"
"Any offensive Charms, Professor," Terry replied. "Hogwarts are fragile, even vulnerable to physical attacks from Muggle —according to Mr. Scamander in * Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to Find Them*, in the last instance of an Hogwarts, it attacked a six-year-old boy named Hogwarts Schmidt. However, Bruno smashed his father's collapsible cauldron on the Hogwarts's head, killing it."
Upon hearing Mr. Scamander's name, Professor Lockhart's lips twitched.
Everyone assumed it was just scholars teasing each other, so they didn't pay much attention and instead let out good-natured laughter.
"Indeed," Professor Lockhart scoffed, "Mr. Scamander is indeed an expert on Magical Creatures, but I don't want to hear his name mentioned in class— Ravenclaw, one point added."
Everyone laughed even harder, including Hermione.
After all, Hermione had lost many points to Snape for showing off her knowledge, and now someone else was losing points to the professor for talking too much, so she was actually quite schadenfreude.
Lockhart asked several more questions before returning to the podium.
"It seems everyone has grasped the knowledge quite well, which makes me very happy," Professor Lockhart said. "This proves that you not only listened attentively to the lectures but also reviewed what you learned, which is indeed the attitude you should have as students."
"Therefore, I will add five points to House Points," he said again.
The classroom fell silent.
Then bursts of enthusiastic cheers erupted.
Harry clapped his hands helplessly, thinking to himself, "These idiots of my classmates... if they all get extra points, doesn't that mean they don't get any?"
"Alright, let's begin today's learning task," Professor Lockhart said. "I need to introduce you to a monster that was previously confirmed to be extinct, but has recently reappeared."
Upon hearing that "it has been confirmed to be extinct," the students all became very interested.
Professor Lockhart opened the wardrobe, inside which was a monster that looked like a large toad carrying a haystack.
"Does anyone recognize what kind of creature this is?" Professor Lockhart asked with a chuckle.
No one raised their hand, not even Hermione, the Academic Bully.
"Does nobody know?" Professor Lockhart asked, raising an eyebrow.
"I know, Professor," Harry said.
Lockhart was somewhat surprised, but still nodded and said, "Go ahead, Mr. Potter."
Harry nodded and said, "I've seen this creature in a book before, I think it's called Grindylow? Right?"
Professor Lockhart looked surprised upon hearing Harry's answer.
"That really surprises me, Harry," he said. "I never imagined that in Hogwarts these days, there would still be young wizards who know about Grindylow?"
"Do you know anything else, Harry?" he asked again. "I look forward to your answer."
"Sorry, Professor," Harry said, shaking his head.
"Well, even so, that's excellent enough." Professor Lockhart clapped his hands. "Five points for Gryffindor —for Mr. Potter's vast knowledge!"
The Gryffindor seats erupted in applause and cheers for Harry's five points.
"I need to clarify that these magical creatures were once thought to be extinct," Professor Lockhart said with a smile. "Grindylow ' tongues are important alchemical ingredients—but their extinction wasn't due to Grindylow tongues. I once heard a rumor on my travels that a transfer student at Hogwarts angered the Grindylow, and in a fit of rage, she killed Grindylow to extinction..."
Harry:...
Is it really that exaggerated?
He did know about this—or rather, he experienced it firsthand.
Because when Veratia twisted her ankle in the wild, Harry was massaging her foot when a Grindylow interrupted his massage.
Enraged, Veratia harbored a grudge against the Grindylow and even taught herself flying magic, running all over England to kill every Grindylow she could see.
Harry didn't know why Veratia was so temperamental. In his memory, Veratia had always been very good-tempered, tolerant, and gentle.
But the students, unaware of the truth, looked at Lockhart with expressions that said, "I don't understand, but I'm impressed."
"Alright, now I'm going to introduce you to these resurrected Grindylow— " Professor Lockhart clapped his hands, "You can already find these creatures in some swamps, or in the Forbidden Forest now."
"These camouflaged beasts often blend into their surroundings, only launching a fierce attack when their prey gets close—the spell ' Revealing Charm ' can help you find them when exploring their habitats."
Professor Lockhart paused for a moment, then continued, "Grindylow commonly attack in two ways: one is by pouncing, and the other is by punching with their tongues like fists—be careful, you definitely don't want to be pounced on by Grindylow Grindylow or hit by its tongue; that feels terrible."
"After launching a pounce, the Grindylow will be in a vulnerable recovery period, which is determined by their physical structure. Therefore, they can be flipped or forced to turn in various ways by powerful spells, such as ' Winguardium Leviosa ', ' Pushing Charm ', ' Accio ', etc."
Professor Lockhart added at this point, "When they open their mouths wide, you can use ' Winguardium Leviosa ' on their huge tongues to fling them into the air, thus exposing their tender and vulnerable bellies."
Having said that, Professor Lockhart waved his wand and said to the students, "Watch closely, I'll only demonstrate once!"
No sooner had he finished speaking than the Grindylow pounced on Professor Lockhart.
"Depulso (Pushing Charm)!"
Professor Lockhart's Charms struck the Grindylow as it lunged forward. After the Charms hit the Grindylow Grindylow, it was flipped over and fell to the ground, struggling for a long time before it could get up.
"See?" Professor Lockhart said. "Of course—you can certainly step aside or roll on the ground... There's nothing shameful about it when it comes to survival, children."
Having said that, he turned the Grindylow around and straightened it up again.
The Grindylow leaned back...
"See that? That's the Grindylow's standard pose before sticking out its tongue—"
As soon as Professor Lockhart finished speaking, the Grindylow opened its mouth wide, and a tongue shot out from its mouth like a fist, heading straight for Professor Lockhart's face.
He remained calm, took a step to the side to avoid the tongue, and then raised his wand.
"Winguardium Leviosa!"
The Grindylow was pulled by its tongue and floated up into the air.
"Professor, why not just use the Levitation Charm?" Seamus asked, raising his hand.
"Very good question, Mr. Finnegan," Professor Lockhart said, clapping his hands. "You can come up and try using the Levitation Charm on this Grindylow; that should answer your question."
Unconvinced, Seamus stepped forward and used a Levitation Charm on the Grindylow.
However, nothing happened; the Charms struck the Grindylow, but it didn't budge.
"That's why we say you have to wait until the Grindylow opens its mouth before launching Charms attack," Professor Lockhart explained to the students with a smile, his hand on Seamus's shoulder. "The Grindylow's back has very high Charms resistance, so unless you're a powerful magic user, it's not recommended to do it this way."
"Thank you, Professor," Seamus said politely.
"You can try again, Mr. Finnegan," Professor Lockhart said. "Try to deal with this Grindylow —don't worry, I'll be there to protect you if anything happens."
"Okay, Professor."
Seamus drew his wand, and at the same time, Lockhart removed the binding Charms from the Grindylow.
The Grindylow roared and lunged at Seamus.
Seamus had already noticed the Grindylow's movements. He quickly rolled away to dodge the Grindylow's pounce attack, then turned around and threw a Confringo at the Grindylow.
"Confringo!"
With a loud bang, the Grindylow was flipped over by the force of the explosion, and crawled back and forth with its four legs pointing towards the sky.
"I must say, a very good Exploding Charm." Professor Lockhart cast a Episkey on the Grindylow. "However, I don't recommend you use this Charms on your classmates—five points in Gryffindor."
"Yay!" everyone cheered.
"Anyone else want to challenge this Grindylow?" Lockhart clapped his hands. "Anyone willing to volunteer?"
"Professor, I'd like to give it a try." A slightly underbite boy from Hufflepuff stepped forward.
He felt that if the Gryffindor students could do it, there was no reason why Hufflepuff couldn't.
"Very well, Mr. Finnegan." Professor Lockhart gestured for him to step forward. "Come on, pick up your wands, and prepare for battle..."
Finch-Fletchley raised his wand and pointed it at the Grindylow.
At the same time, the Grindylow pounced on him.
Sitting in the classroom watching Seamus subdue the Grindylow, Finley didn't think much of it—but when he actually faced the Grindylow and saw this guy, who looked to weigh over a hundred pounds, rushing towards him, Finch-Fletchley's legs went weak.
Fortunately, Lockhart was nearby. He gave Finch-Fletchley a Shield Charm to protect him and saved him.
"You shouldn't be daydreaming, Mr. Finnegan," Professor Lockhart said with a smile, encouragingly. "But commendable courage, Hufflepuff gets a point."
It's a consolation prize, but it's not bad either.
Finch-Fletchley quickly thanked Professor Lockhart, and when he returned to his seat, he still looked shaken.
It was terrifying just now. Even with Lockhart's Shield Charm protecting him, he still saw the Grindylow's enormous body.
"Is there anyone else willing to fight?" Professor Lockhart asked with a chuckle. "Don't worry—"
"Professor, let me try." A blonde girl stepped forward from the Slytherin.
"Daphne..." Pansy asked softly from the side, "Can you do it?"
"Probably," Daphne said softly in return. "Someone from Slytherin has to step forward."
Pansy nodded and didn't try to persuade her further, but her eyes were full of satisfaction as she looked at Daphne.
"Yes, Miss Greengrass." Professor Lockhart gestured for her to come forward.
Daphne walked a short distance from the Grindylow and reached out to take out her wand.
"Ready?" Professor Lockhart said. "Three, two, one..."
As soon as he finished speaking, the Grindylow was released from its restraints.
The Grindylow tilted its head back.
Daphne quickly dodged to the side, narrowly avoiding the Grindylow's tongue attack.
But she seemed to have moved too much when she dodged, and she almost fell to the ground.
This meant they missed the opportunity to retaliate.
The Grindylow, of course, wouldn't give her a chance to catch her breath. After retracting its tongue, it pounced heavily on Daphne with the force of a mountain crashing down on her.
Daphne rolled heavily on the ground, narrowly dodging the Grindylow's pounce.
"Winguardium Leviosa!"
The Levitation Charm hit the Grindylow's back but had no effect.
At their age, they haven't learned Knockback Jinx or other displacement spells yet.
"Don't rush, Miss Greengrass," Professor Lockhart cautioned.
Sure enough, the Grindylow turned around and tilted its head back again.
This is the standard prelude to sticking out one's tongue. When Daphne dodged to the side this time, the movement wasn't very large.
The tongue grazed her body and missed its mark; at the same time, Daphne's Levitation Charm struck the Grindylow's tongue.
"Well done!" Professor Lockhart clapped his hands and said, "Slytherin, five points! Good Charms, agile movements!"
Daphne waved happily, and her Slytherin classmates cheered for her score.
Several more students volunteered to fight, but all of them were stunned in the face of the Grindylow's attack and were then saved by Professor Lockhart's Protego.
"Professor, I'd like to give it a try." Neville stood up.
Seeing that it was Neville, the most... well, that one in Gryffindor, Professor Lockhart nodded and said, "Alright, then you can give it a try, Longbottom —remember, don't push yourself."
Neville nodded and raised his wand, aiming it at the Grindylow.
"Ready?" Professor Lockhart said. "Three, two, one..."
Just as the Grindylow lunged at him, Neville dodged sharply to the side.
The Grindylow brushed against the edge of his robe, narrowly avoiding the attack.
Neville intended to use a Charms, but before he could turn around, the Grindylow had already readjusted its center of gravity and opened its mouth to strike him.
Fortunately, Neville had learned a thing or two from Harry, and he jumped to the side, dodging the Grindylow's punches.
"Neville, keep it up!" The students felt a surge of confidence as they saw Neville dodge the Grindylow's attacks twice in a row.
They all hoped Neville would succeed.
Encouraged by his classmates' cheers, Neville stared intently at the Grindylow, trying to figure out how it would attack next.
The Grindylow lowered its body slightly, then leaped high into the air and pounced on Neville again.
Neville swerved to the side, dodging the Grindylow's pounce.
He quickly regained his balance and pointed at the Grindylow, who was still not standing firmly.
"Depulso (Pushing Charm!)!"
The Grindylow, struck by the Charms, flipped over and lay sprawled on the ground, moving helplessly.
"Neville!" "Neville!" "Neville!"
The three houses erupted in cheers as they celebrated Neville's victory over Grindylow.
"Excellent Charms!" Professor Lockhart exclaimed. "Neville, very good! Gryffindor will add five points for your victory over the Grindylow!"
Upon hearing this result, the cheers from Gryffindor grew even louder.
On the contrary, the other two houses, upon realizing that Gryffindor an additional five points, immediately became dejected.
But they cheered again, after all, Slytherin had the highest House Points now, Gryffindor got extra points... Go for it!
Everything will be alright as long as we get rid of Slytherin!
Neville's eyes welled up with tears. He stood there, stunned, enjoying the cheers of his classmates.
This feels so good, he thought.
Thinking this, he looked at Harry and smiled gratefully at him.
Harry clapped and nodded in approval.
Then Ron and Hermione stepped forward and demonstrated what standard Charms techniques are.
Hermione used the Levitation Charm to flip the Grindylow to the ground as soon as it opened its mouth.
Ron was even more decisive; as soon as the Grindylow pounced into the air, he knocked it over with his "Pushing Charm.
After Gryffindor scored another ten points, Professor Lockhart called Harry's name.
"Harry, you give it a try," Professor Lockhart said with a smile. "You are the famous the Boy Who Lived, you should demonstrate your learning to everyone."
Harry stood up, thinking to himself, "It's just Grindylow; I've seen plenty of those before..."
but...
He felt the Ancient Magic surging within his chest.
Um...
He didn't actually know what the next Ancient Charm would be, so he looked up and asked, "Professor, is anything acceptable as long as we can defeat the Grindylow?"
"Of course, Harry," Professor Lockhart replied with a healthy smile.
Harry stood up and walked to a spot a short distance in front of the Grindylow.
The students present held their breath, especially Draco. He not only held his breath but also belatedly used Transfiguration to create a poorly shaped umbrella, ready to shield himself from getting splattered with blood at any moment.
"Ready?" Professor Lockhart said again, "Three, two, one..."
Harry didn't chant the Charms. Instead, as soon as Professor Lockhart finished speaking, he activated the Ancient Magic within him and released it from the tip of his wand.
The Grindylow was instantly lifted into the air by the Charms, and then it was slammed to the ground with a thud, as if it were being grabbed by the tail by an invisible hand, causing the entire classroom to tremble.
Thud! Thud! Smash!
Harry lifted the Charms.
The Grindylow landed on the ground, clearly beyond saving. The force of the fall had caused its entire body to become soft and weak.
Professor Lockhart's pupils contracted.
Ancient Magic!
He certainly knew about Ancient Magic, because his sister was one of the inheritors of Ancient Magic...
He felt that he should write another letter upon returning home to conduct a thorough evaluation of Mr. Potter.
It seems that this boy is not only Dumbledore's Golden Boy, or the subordinate that the master wants to recruit—but also a successor of Ancient Magic.
"A very powerful Charms," Professor Lockhart said, feigning ignorance of the Ancient Magic, "But it's a bit too violent, Harry. I sincerely suggest you don't use this Charms on your classmates, okay?"
"Of course, Professor," Harry nodded in response.
After calming himself down, Lockhart put the dead Grindylow back into the cabinet.
He feigned regret and said, "I'm sorry I couldn't give everyone a good time—but it's alright. Given the recent spate of petrification incidents, I've decided to start Dueling Club at Hogwarts. If you feel you haven't had enough fun, you can come and give it a try. You won't regret it."
"Professor, when will the Dueling Club be available?" Justin Finch-Fletchley of Hufflepuff asked.
"Good question." Professor Lockhart pointed at him. "I am pleased to inform you that the Dueling Club will be held every Saturday and Sunday evening after dinner in the Great Hall —of course, this is not mandatory, and I will not force you to do anything you do not like if you are not interested."
"Cool!" Terry Boot chimed in. "Then we'll definitely go, Professor."
The students all said they would definitely participate, and Lockhart seemed very happy about it.
When class ended, Lockhart reminded Harry that he must also join the Dueling Club.
"I don't think it's really necessary to go," Ron commented after class. "To be honest, we've already learned enough in the Dueling Club."
"There's no harm in going to take a look, Ron," Harry said. "After all, I'm only a second-year student, Professor Lockhart, as an adventurer, must be very skilled in dueling."
Harry truly meant it.
"Really?" Hermione, somewhat puzzled. "You're already this amazing..."
"A true wizard always keeps a student's mindset," Harry said with a smile. "Alright, let's go back; we still need to eat later."
Harry slept soundly throughout his History of Magic class that afternoon.
However, he did not ask for leave from the evening Astronomy Class. Who knew what would happen in the middle of the night? What if that person chose to attack Gryffindor at that time?
Wednesday morning was Professor Flitwick's Charms Class.
In this lesson, Professor Flitwick followed Professor Lockhart's pace and began teaching the students to Revealing Charm.
"I must admit, Professor Lockhart is indeed a rare Defense Against the Dark Arts Professor," Professor Flitwick said in a high-pitched voice, looking extremely pleased. "You should cherish a professor like him; I have rarely encountered such a professional and dedicated professor in all these years."
Flitwick praised Lockhart so highly not only because Lockhart excelled in Defense Against the Dark Arts, but also because Lockhart was Ravenclaw graduate.
As the head of Ravenclaw, he was also very proud.
"Have you seen it?" Ron asked Harry in a low voice.
"If the Dark Lord who tutored me individually at the end of last year counts too," Harry said in a low voice as well.
Ron almost burst out laughing.
However, when it comes to the level of professionalism in Defense Against the Dark Arts, Voldemort was indeed one of the best.
After all, how can one understand Dark Arts defense if one doesn't understand black Dark Arts?
"Alright, since you learned about Grindylow in the last lesson," Professor Flitwick said, waving his wand, "then in the next few lessons I will teach you the Charms ' Revealing Charm ' and ' Pushing Charm.'"
"It's also thanks to him combining the courses into one long session per week, and the teaching pace isn't too fast," Professor Flitwick said with a hint of regret. "Otherwise, we wouldn't have had much time to learn so many Charms."
"Alright, without further ado, the first thing you need to learn is Revealing Charm, the spell is 'Revelio'." Professor Flitwick raised his wand and drew an "R" in the air with a marking Charms, then said, "Watch my trajectory, and the arrow above it..."
"Come, chant the spell with me," Professor Flitwick said loudly, "Revelio!"
"Revelio!" everyone chanted together.
"Very good, very good." Professor Flitwick jumped twice and pointed at Seamus: "Mr. Finnegan, try reciting this incantation once."
"Revelio," Seamus repeated clearly.
"Very good, very good," Professor Flitwick said happily. He then called on a few more students to answer the question and gave each of them an extra point.
"Below is the trajectory of the Charms— " Professor Flitwick said again, "Draw it together with me, and then I will check your learning progress one by one..."
The students followed his path, trying to memorize the simple trajectory.
One R is easy to remember.
After checking on several students, Professor Flitwick began to explain the key points of the spell to everyone.
It's nothing more than seeing a malicious person, or seeing some valuable items, etc...
"I think this spell could be developed," Ron chuckled. "For example, I could use this Charms at the entrance to the Hogwarts Kitchen to pinpoint the exact location of the chicken legs Kitchen..."
"Good heavens, Ronald," Hermione said, shaking her head. "You're hopeless—is there nothing else meaningful in your life besides chicken legs?"
To everyone's surprise, Ron actually thought about it carefully and replied, "No, there really isn't."
Hermione rolled her eyes and chose to ignore Ron.
"What's wrong, Hermione?" Harry asked in a low voice.
"Oh, what can I say?" Hermione sneered repeatedly. "His life is all about chicken legs, chicken legs. What's the difference between him and a salted fish?"
"Salted fish like salt," Ron said succinctly.
but--
What Ron wouldn't tell Hermione is that his family is completely different from Hermione's.
Hermione is a dentist's daughter who lives in a detached house. She lives alone and can eat whatever she wants.
But he was different; he had five older brothers and a younger sister.
When we have something nice to eat at home, we always divide it up according to the number of people. Dad can buy some chicken legs, but when it's divided equally among everyone, there's not enough for each person.
The problem is that the extra chicken legs are always given to the best children by their mothers.
For example, Bill, Charlie, and Percy, who became Prefect, or the older brothers who got high scores.
He... well, he can't be called outstanding, he's at least a lifelong prisoner, so he never gets any extra rewards.
But on one occasion, he unexpectedly won first place in a garden Goblin- pulling activity and received a big chicken leg as a reward from his mother.
It was delicious! He saved the chicken leg for last, savoring it slowly until there wasn't a single crumb left on the bone.
This has led to his somewhat morbid pursuit of chicken legs—even now that he's at Hogwarts and can eat chicken legs whenever he wants, he still can't forget the first chicken leg he was rewarded with as a child.
Thinking this way, Ron rewarded himself with two more chicken legs at dinner.
The chicken legs at Hogwarts are so nourishing!
In the afternoon, Harry found Professor Snape.
"Professor, I would like to apply to you for..."
"Oh?" Professor Snape didn't even lift his eyelids.
"I'd like to go to the outskirts of the Forbidden Forest tonight," Harry said quickly.
Professor Snape said impatiently, "I think if you were awake, you would know that your poor old professor is just Potions professor, not the Headmaster of Hogwarts or the head of Gryffindor."
"But you're in charge of the school gates..." Harry said in a low voice.
Snape slowly raised his head, forcing a greasy smile.
"No."
Reluctantly, Harry had no choice but to abandon the day's plans and regretfully informed Cedric that the training exercise was temporarily canceled, with the next scheduled date to be determined.
Let him deal with Professor Snape first.
Back in his dorm room, he told Hermione about it.
"I remember..." Hermione suddenly said, "You once said that Snape and your father... didn't get along very well, but he and your mother grew up together, and you... look like your father, but have your mother's eyes."
"Yes." Harry didn't know what Hermione was going to say.
"I suggest..." Hermione said after a moment's thought, "Do you remember something called a face mask in our Muggle world?"
"Masks?" Harry asked, puzzled. He didn't know how masks were related to these things.
"Should we stick the mask over Professor Snape's eyes so he can't see what we're doing?" he wondered.
"Yes, a mask." Hermione nodded seriously. "Think about it, if you wear a mask to cover your face, only showing your green eyes, wouldn't Professor Snape be unable to see that face he harbors a slight grudge against?"
Don't tell me, you really shouldn't tell me.
Harry thought Hermione's plan was excellent.
"But what's the reason?" Harry sighed. "You can't just wear a mask for no reason, can you?"
"Simple." Hermione gave him a reassuring look, wrote a letter, and handed it to Harry: "Hedwig, take this back to my father—"
Harry was skeptical, but knowing Hermione was always very clever, he chose to believe her.
On Friday at noon, while they were having lunch in the Great Hall, they saw Hedwig fly in carrying a large plastic bag.
It flew with great precision, and the large plastic bag landed with a thud in Harry's arms.
Harry had expected it to be heavy, but the plastic bag was surprisingly light.
"They're face masks," Hermione said. "I asked Daddy for some from his dentist's office, and they're just what we need."
"But what's the reason?" Ron asked, holding a chicken leg.
"Why?" Hermione asked with a smile. "It's for class, of course."
"No, I'm not asking about your reasons for asking Askin for masks," Ron said. "I'm asking how to tell Professor Snape."
"Just you wait," Hermione snorted.
That afternoon, Gryffindor also had their Potions Class.
"Here, everyone, put these on." Hermione began handing out masks to the Gryffindor students one by one. "Especially you, Harry, you need to wear it properly and make sure your face isn't showing, understand?"
"Okay." Harry nodded helplessly; he didn't think the thing would be useful.
"I say, Granger," Draco said, frowning, "You don't really think these Muggle gadgets are of any use in Potions Class, do you?"
"Do you want one?" Harry picked up a face mask from the table.
Seeing that his "great-uncle" had spoken, Draco nodded without hesitation.
"Want!"
When Professor Snape entered the classroom, he was visibly stunned to see a group of students wearing masks.
"What kind of trick are you playing?" Snape asked coldly.
"It was Granger's idea," Draco was the first to point out, but he didn't take off his mask.
Snape snorted and walked over to Hermione's side.
"Well, silly girl," Professor Snape said, his eyelids lowered. "You don't really think Muggle Sickle be used in Potions Class, do you?"
"But this can prevent our saliva from splashing into the Potions, or protect our respiratory tract if the Potions fails to be brewed," Hermione said humbly.
Snape's lips curled into a forced, insincere smile.
He was about to spray Hermione with venom when he saw Harry standing to the side.
What a beautiful pair of green eyes they were...
The crucial point is that we still can't see Potter's repulsive face...
Snape suddenly felt that it wasn't so necessary for the venom to splash.
He thought that young students from other colleges should be given some opportunities.
So he shrugged and said, "Let's assume your cleverness is still somewhat useful, Miss Granger."
After saying that, he turned and left Hermione's seat.
Hermione gave Harry a peace sign, and the plan was initially completed.
In this lesson, they were still brewing Cure for Boils — Professor Snape had learned it from Lockhart, so it was good to review what they had learned before.
After assigning tasks, Professor Snape began patrolling the classroom.
He looked around and was very satisfied with everyone's progress in brewing the Potions.
When he walked up to Hermione, he stopped and stood there for a while.
Hermione carefully ground the herbs, occasionally stealing a glance at Snape.
"I don't look good on my face, silly girl," Snape said casually.
Hermione quickly continued grinding, and once everything was ready, she placed the Potions in the cauldron.
However, with Snape watching over you, it's impossible not to be nervous.
When she stirred, she didn't use her right hand, which she was used to, but her left hand instead.
"Miss Granger— " Snape's voice rang out.
Upon hearing Snape call her name, the Slytherin students burst into laughter and turned around to see what Hermione had done wrong.
She's definitely going to get points deducted, everyone thinks.
The Gryffindor students also began to worry; Professor Snape was known for deducting Gryffindor without batting an eye...
However, to the surprise of all of them, Professor Snape did not intend to deduct points from Gryffindor.
"Skilled use of the left hand, and adaptable," Snape said greasyly. "Twenty points for Gryffindor, as always, outstanding, Miss Granger."
