You Smell Like Her Perfume
Just then, students from other colleges also gathered around, all wanting to see what was going on.
With so many people watching, and given Ron's solid 2-16 record, Draco felt he couldn't back down.
Fight! We must not disgrace Slytherin!
"How about we change the bet?" Draco, having already mentally confirmed Ron's poor performance (2-16), said proudly, "How about this: whoever loses shouts, ' Old Bat, I'm going to wash your hair!' How about that?"
The young wizards present were shocked by Draco's words.
My goodness, is he really that brave?!
The Slytherin students, eager for a good spectacle, began shouting Draco's name.
"Well done, Draco!"
"So energetic!" "They didn't let Slytherin down!"
Draco, flattered by his Slytherin classmates, was somewhat smug. He had completely forgotten that if they lost the match, he would be the one to utter those words.
He has now lost himself in the pursuit of spiritual enlightenment.
Ron was also shocked, shocked by Draco's true courage.
My God, are you in such a hurry to die?
"Alright then," Ron said with a smile, rolling up his sleeves. "Potions Class is the day after tomorrow, so instead of setting a date, how about we play a game of chess today, with all these classmates as witnesses?"
"Do you think I'd be afraid of Gryffindor of 2-16 like you, Weasley?" Draco was also provoked. "Remember! The one you won was against Barry Wendell! He's 776 years old; he simply couldn't withstand a four-hour battle and lost to you!"
"Just tell me if I won or not!" Ron said, somewhat embarrassed and angry.
"Hehe." Draco simply replied with a "hehe."
Seamus and Neville had already scurried back to their dorm room and retrieved the Wizard Chess set.
"This is Wizard Chess, Ron." Seamus handed the chessboard to Ron. "Good luck, Ron. The time has come to prove you're not bad!"
Ron's entire demeanor changed as he held the chessboard.
Regardless, he was a player who had participated in the Wizard Chess Tournament, and he still had that kind of disdain for his classmates.
However, Ron was not careless. As the saying goes, even a lion uses its full strength to hunt a rabbit. He had to give the evil Slytherin brat a good beating!
Draco noticed the change in Ron's demeanor, and his serpentine body trembled.
Ron was worried that Draco might back down at the last minute, so he secretly planned to use reverse psychology.
He knew that Draco was actually quite proud, and he would definitely lose face in front of so many people, and would definitely agree to his request because he couldn't save face.
"Malfoy," Ron snorted, "If you're scared, it's not too late to leave now."
"What are you saying!" Marcus Flint shouted from behind. "There can't be any cowards in Slytherin! Malfoy, if you can beat the Weasley, I'll approve your joining the Quidditch team and becoming a glorious Seeker!"
Draco, who was still somewhat naive, made up his mind instantly after hearing Marcus's promise.
"Alright!" Draco slammed his hand on the table. "So what if he's Weasley, who's lost sixteen games in a row? I've been playing Wizard Chess since I was three! Do you think I'm afraid of him? Come on! Let's settle this once and for all!"
After he finished speaking, he sat down on the Slytherin bench, and the older students used Transfiguration to set up a table between the two of them.
"Aren't you going to do Albus?" Professor McGonagall asked with concern, looking at the crowd that had gathered three or four deep in the Faculty Table.
Dumbledore shook his head, saying with a sigh, "What a restless youth..."
The referee for this Wizard Chess tournament was Ernie Macmillan, who also loves Wizard Chess. He stood there excitedly, looking like he was watching the show from the front lines.
"Ready to begin, Mr. Weasley, and Mr. Malfoy," he said.
Draco gave Ernie a slight snort, but although Ernie was Hufflepuff, he came from the Pure-blood McMillan family, so Draco didn't dislike him.
Ernie is Hufflepuff, not an enemy of Gryffindor, so Ron can accept him as a referee.
"Come on," Ron said to Draco. "You take the white one, so I'll let you go first."
Given Draco's proud nature, he certainly wouldn't let Ron give him a break—but the problem is, losing comes at a price, and a significant one at that. So Draco abandoned his pride and flexibly chose substance over pride.
The Malfoy family ' bottom line has always been very flexible.
"Alright, alright," Ernie announced loudly. "Mr. Draco Malfoy from Slytherin is playing white against Mr. Weasley. Ron Weasley from Gryffindor, who is playing black. It's a battle between the two houses—it's my pleasure to commentate on this match. I'm Ernie Macmillan from Hufflepuff."
"Now we can see that Mr. Malfoy chose to move his pawn from e2 to e4, and Mr. Weasley, who was playing black, also chose to move his pawn from e7 to e5."
"A very classic opening, both sides opted for a conservative approach—ah, Malfoy moved his Knight from G1 to F3, and lo and behold, Mr. Weasley's Knight moved too, from B8 to C6!"
"Okay, this is going to be a close game!" Ernie shouted.
The students present all knew a little about Wizard Chess, so when Ron and Draco played Wizard Chess, they could understand the gist of it.
After about five or six minutes, Ernie suddenly clutched his head and exclaimed, "My God, this is an absolutely, utterly, utterly huge mistake! How could Mr. Malfoy let Black continue to capture his own soldiers?"
"Check, shall we go again?" Ron said with a grin. He was confident of victory and was just one step away from devouring Draco's king.
"Slytherin will never give up!" Draco roared, grabbing his hair.
Ron shrugged and ordered the castle to move forward to surround Draco's king.
Logically, there's no need to announce your impending death, but Ron, confident of victory, kindly reminded him, "Check mate!"
Having said that, Ron's chess pieces on the board sprang up, and he swung his weapon, knocking Draco's king to his knees.
"You lost, Malfoy," Ron said with a grin. "Shouldn't you honor your bet?"
Before Draco could speak, Marcus shouted, "No, normal matches are best-of-three, a single game to decide the winner is against the rules, let's play again!"
Upon hearing Marcus's words, hope rekindled in Draco's eyes.
"Okay! One more plate, please!"
However, this game collapsed even faster than the last. Draco sat in his chair, staring blankly at the king, who was now in several pieces, speechless for a long time.
"You should understand, Malfoy," Ron said smugly. "I was just letting you win. If I wanted, I could have won even faster."
Draco pouted, stood up, and said, "I'm not playing anymore, I'm going home!"
"Hey, don't be in such a hurry to leave," Ron quickly stopped him. "Why are you in such a rush to go back? You haven't kept your promise yet—are you trying to renege on it in front of the whole school, Malfoy?"
"Don't worry!" Draco said angrily, "Just you wait, I'll definitely keep my promise!"
"Really?" Ron said with a chuckle. "Why do I get the feeling you're going to back out?"
"I! I will never go back on my word!" Draco said angrily. "I swear in the name of my ancestors, I will never go back on my word!"
After saying that, he turned and ran away.
Harry, who was watching the commotion, suddenly remembered that Cassandra was also Draco's ancestor.
He immediately tensed up. It seemed he had to force Draco to keep his promise, otherwise things might get complicated if the oath involved Cassandra...
No, we have to keep an eye on Draco. We absolutely can't let him break his promise!
Since losing the game, Draco seems to have lost his spirit.
He wasn't conflicted about fulfilling the bet, but rather depressed about losing to Weasley so decisively.
Good heavens, didn't he only win two games in the Wizard Chess tournament and then have a fantastic sixteen-game losing streak?
How can it be so amazing?
However, one problem he never realized was that being able to participate in such a competition itself represented a certain level of skill, at least at the entry-level of a professional.
He's just an enthusiast, so wouldn't he be completely outmatched by Ron?
After that, several other busybodies wanted to play Wizard Chess with Ron, but Ron dealt with them all in no time.
In Ron's words, "I can't beat those old men and women who have lived for who knows how many years, but I can beat you?"
Fun fact: In the last Wizard Chess Tournament, the youngest player besides Ron was already over forty years old.
Judging from this, Ron's ability to win two games puts him among the most skilled players.
However, what Ron wouldn't tell anyone was that in the game of chess he played with Barry, he actually lost because he played without any sportsmanship and kept the old man up until he fell asleep.
Ron earned everyone's respect again at school with his real skills, but his classmates didn't seem to have given up on the 2-16 meme; in fact, it seemed to be getting more and more intense.
But this time, the mention of 2-16 was not one of disdain, but rather one of slight respect.
Ron was ecstatic after defeating Slytherin, and he practically swaggered through the Gryffindor Common Room, showing no fear even when facing Percy.
Even Percy had to hold his nose and praise Ron for doing a great job.
Time flies, and Friday is here in the blink of an eye.
The flow of time is relative, and everyone felt that time was passing very slowly—because it was the first time they were looking forward to Potions Class; only Draco felt that time was passing very quickly, because he really didn't want to go to Potions Class and keep his bet.
However, there was nothing he could do; sooner or later, he was bound to suffer this blow.
For the first time Gryffindor students arrived at the Potions classroom twenty or thirty minutes early, looking expectantly at Professor Snape was teaching a sixth-year class inside.
When class ended, Snape saw his classmates and even glanced back at the calendar.
"What's wrong, Professor Snape?" Veratia asked as she walked out of the classroom.
Snape snorted and said, "I was just checking if today is April 1st..."
Veratia walked out of the classroom and, upon seeing Harry, pulled him to a corner.
She reached out and hugged Harry, whispering in his ear, "What's wrong with you two? Look how scared you've made Professor Snape. He's even trying to figure out if it's April Fools' Day."
Harry briefly recounted the events to Veratia, Veratia paused for a moment, then lowered her head and said, "The 'washing slicked-back hair' comment wasn't very effective on Professor Snape. I remember Lily once told me that your father hung him upside down with Levicorpus, revealing his dirty, blackened underwear..."
Harry looked up and stared at Veratia in shock—he knew you were cunning, but he never imagined you were all black inside!
"Alright, I'm off to class in the Muggle world, Harry." Veratia chuckled and ruffled Harry's hair. "Oh, and I also need to use the Time-Turner to jump forward forty-five minutes so I don't miss Professor Hawking's lecture."
"Aren't you taking classes in the Department of Political Economy? How come you're learning all this stuff?" Harry was shocked. Even if he was uneducated, he knew that Hawking was a science student and didn't teach at LSE.
"I can attend classes at several universities." Veratia winked at Harry, reached out and summoned Fiona, who then vanished along with the Phoenix.
Harry was stunned. He felt he needed to roll up his sleeves too—so as not to fall too far behind Veratia.
If this continues, he, a modern man, will understand modern life less than Veratia!
As Harry walked around the corner to the Potions classroom, he ran into Pabbie, who was walking along with great enthusiasm.
"Pabbie," Harry called out, "Why didn't you go in?"
"I've been waiting for you," Pabbie said, snuggling up to Harry, deliberately tucking her horns in, and wriggling in Harry's arms.
After arching twice, Pabbie raised his head alertly.
"No, you smell like Grindelwald's perfume!"
"I just replenished her magic," Harry chuckled, ruffling Pabbie's hair. "Besides, Veratia wasn't wearing perfume, that's her..."
"Alright, that's enough!" Pabbie exhaled heavily through her nose. "Let's go inside and start class!"
"Okay."
Harry agreed and walked into the classroom one after the other with Pabbie.
After seeing Pabbie, Snape turned his gaze to Harry, his eyes full of disdain.
"I should remind you, Mr. Potter," Snape's greasy voice rang out, "That you are not allowed to bring pets into Potions Class class. I wish your greasy brain knew the dangers of pet fur to Potions. I understand your desire to show off having a Unicorn as a pet, but this is Potions Class."
