The Matter of My Godson Being My Great-Grandfather's Idol
Then it dawned on them that perhaps Ominis Gaunt was referring to his classmate, the Harry Potter from a hundred years ago.
Dumbledore turned around and glanced at Harry.
He did know the truth: the Harry in the house now was the same one from a hundred years ago—but he wasn't sure if Harry wanted to keep it a secret.
"Haha, Dumbledore thinks he's looking for you," Ron said to Harry with a laugh. "I think Mr. Ominis Gaunt is looking for that classmate from a hundred years ago, don't you think, Harry?"
"Is it possible that he's looking for me?" Harry replied in a low voice as well.
In this respect, he never kept anything from Hermione and Ron.
There's nothing to hide—but the problem is, neither Hermione nor Ron believes he's the legendary wizard from a hundred years ago.
"Looking for you?" Ron hadn't quite grasped the situation. "What does he want? Do you know him?"
"Is it possible that I am Harry from a hundred years ago?" Harry reached out and patted Ron on the shoulder. "I said the same thing to you two years ago at this time."
Ron paused for a moment after hearing Harry's words.
"Stop kidding, buddy." He chuckled. "How could you possibly be that Harry? Everyone knows he was a hundred years ago..."
Sirius also overheard his godson's conversation with Ron. It wasn't that he intentionally eavesdropped; he was simply too close to hear it.
He assumed it was just his son teasing his good friend, like James sometimes teased him too.
Harry didn't say anything, but went up to the portrait of Ominis.
He was actually quite curious as to why Ominis, who was clearly blind, had regained his sight in the portrait.
Could a portrait possibly have a magical healing effect?
"Harry?"
Ominis saw Harry and asked in surprise.
Ron and Hermione exchanged a glance. What was going on? This Mr. Gaunt actually knew Harry?
Could it be...
They both considered an unlikely possibility.
No...
No way?
"Long time no see, Ominis." Harry smiled and asked, "I've heard about you, about everything you did for Anne —I've found Sebastian, he's in Azkaban, but he's not doing well, he's become a ghost."
"I already guessed it." Ominis wasn't angry or sad, he was just very calm.
He chuckled again and asked, "So, tell me about you. Have Miss Grindelwald and Miss Malfoy found you? I remember they were both heartbroken after you disappeared and were frantically trying to find you—especially Miss Malfoy, she practically..."
"Shut up!"
Cassandra blushed slightly and quickly stepped forward to stop Ominis from saying what he was about to say.
We dare not let him say anything reckless; it would be bad if he said something wrong!
"Oh, it seems you've arrived a hundred years in the future, Miss Malfoy," Ominis said in surprise. "As your classmate, I must first congratulate you—and Miss Grindelwald must have found a way too, right? I remember she's always been very resourceful."
"She's here." Harry glanced back at Veratia. "You're still as clever as ever, Ominis —but I didn't expect that you... your eyes would actually be healed?"
"It's nothing. Just make sure to draw my eyes properly when you paint the portrait," Ominis said with a chuckle. "It's like painting a blind person without eyes; if you draw eyes on them, the portrait won't look blind anymore—"
Harry had no idea that the portrait could have such a wonderful use.
I wonder if I'll still be nearsighted when I become a portrait in the future.
Sirius, who was listening nearby, was completely bewildered. He felt like his brain was about to explode.
No, what is all this?
After listening for a long time, he finally came to a general conclusion.
Could it be that my lovely godson is actually the classmate of this old man in front of me... Gaunt?
Really?
Sirius remembered that his great-grandfather, Sirius Black, who shared the same name as him, greatly admired his senior, Harry Potter...
What?!
He feels like he could write a book now; he's already come up with a title. "About My Great-Grandfather's Idol in Raising My Sons"...
In contrast, Snape stared expressionlessly at the portraits of Harry and the old Slytherin, his calm face revealing a story that no one could fathom.
The most shocked person was Ron. He never imagined that his good friend who slept in the next bunk, such an approachable and friendly brother, would have such an identity that would shock even Merlin.
Hermione was the happiest, though it was a complicated kind of happiness.
On the one hand, I was shocked that Harry was actually the legendary wizard from a hundred years ago. On the other hand, I realized that I was not bad at all—it was simply my bad luck that I couldn't outperform Harry in the exams.
That makes sense. She was a legendary wizard back in the day. If she couldn't beat this Muggle-born witch when she came to Hogwarts for her second playthrough, then she might as well forget about being a legendary wizard.
His shamefulness is second only to Voldemort's defeat in a one-on-one fight with an infant.
"I've been looking for you for quite some time," Harry said to the portrait of Ominis. "A while ago, Professor Dumbledore and I went to Gaunt Old House to try and find any trace of Voldemort, but we came up empty-handed. All we got from Morfin Gaunt was the news that your portrait had been taken by Voldemort."
"Oh, Morfin." Ominis shook his head with a smile. "My nephew... is rather eccentric and rather crazy. He's a typical product of inbreeding—oh, I learned that phrase from some Muggle 'scientist.' Of course... I have something more important to tell you about Morfin."
Upon hearing Ominis's words, Harry quickly asked, "Huh? What is it?"
"You should know that Morfin once had a ring." Ominis closed his eyes, recalled for a moment, and said, "That ring belonged to my cousin Marvolo Gaunt, and it was passed down from the Gaunt family ancestors—but the ring was just its appearance; the truly precious thing was the black gemstone set in the ring."
"A black gem?" Harry repeated, not remembering anyone mentioning that the ring had a gem.
"Yes, that gem is one of the famous Deathly Hallows, the Resurrection Stone."
Ominis uttered the most shocking words in the calmest of all, words that resonated deeply with those present.
Resurrection Stone...
"What is Resurrection Stone?" Ron asked, dumbfounded.
Hermione rolled her eyes at him, but still patiently explained, "The Resurrection Stone is a gift from god of death to the second of the Peverell brothers. Legend has it that god of death picked up this black, crystal-clear stone by the river and gave it to the second Peverell brothers, telling him that the stone could bring the dead back to life... Of course, the Resurrection Stone, along with the Elder Wand and the Invisibility Cloak, are collectively known as the Deathly Hallows."
At this point, Hermione added a sentence.
"The Invisibility Cloak we usually use is one of the Deathly Hallows... and if I'm not mistaken, the wand in Headmaster Dumbledore's hand is the legendary Elder Wand —right?"
"Yes, Hermione." Dumbledore smiled gently at Hermione, but he seemed somewhat distracted, as if his attention was drawn to something.
"You mean the Resurrection Stone?" Sirius suddenly walked to the side of the Ominis portrait and asked eagerly, "Mr. Gaunt, do you know where the Resurrection Stone is?"
"This is my Godfather, Sirius Black," Harry introduced Ominis at the opportune moment.
"Hello, Mr. Black." Ominis nodded politely, then said to Sirius, "I'm sorry, Mr. Black, I don't know where that ring is now."
Seeing that everyone was looking at him, Ominis continued, "As far as I know, this ring was turned into Horcrux by my great-nephew... oh, that is, Voldemort, whom you call him, and he should have hidden it in some top-secret location."
"The Resurrection Stone has been turned into Horcrux?!"
Upon hearing this news, Sirius immediately wore an expression as if he had swallowed a fly.
Not only Sirius, Snape also secretly began to grit his teeth.
"I never imagined that the Dark Lord would have such a dog-like habit of marking out territory wherever he pleases," he said sarcastically, dragging out his words.
But while criticizing Voldemort, he subconsciously targeted someone else in an area-of-effect attack.
Perhaps the idea of slicing through Sirius and James's group of four was already ingrained in Snape's DNA.
But what he said wasn't wrong; Voldemort did indeed have some serious illness.
Not to mention the Resurrection Stone, even Hufflepuff's Cup and Slytherin's locket have fallen victim to his wrath; as for Ravenclaw's Diadem, that remains to be seen, but in reality... it's likely to suffer the same fate as it.
Currently, the challenge facing Dumbledore is how to destroy the Horcrux without damaging the original objects.
This is a very difficult question.
Lupin chuckled.
He leaned close to Sirius's ear and whispered, "You know what, Padfoot, what he said was really apt."
Sirius's face turned as purple as an eggplant. If it were just Snape's words, it wouldn't be so bad. The real blow to him was Lupin's betrayal.
But Lupin didn't think he was betraying you; he was just teasing you.
"It seems we now know of five Horcrux: Voldemort's Diary, which has already been destroyed, and Hufflepuff's Cup —which is already in Mr. LeMay's Alchemy Room."
Dumbledore paused for a moment, then continued with the count, "And there's the Slytherin's locket, this Horcrux is currently Voldemort's primary dwelling place."
That's as if Voldemort were a hermit crab, running around everywhere with his shell (Horcrux) on his back.
"Of course, there's also the missing Resurrection Stone, and the remaining one is the undetermined Ravenclaw's Diadem..."
The Ravenclaw's Diadem is just speculation, based on the fact that Voldemort has already turned two of the Four Founders's possessions, the Slytherin pendant and the Hufflepuff's Cup, into Horcrux.
As for Gryffindor's sword, a coward like Voldemort will never find it in his lifetime.
"If Ravenclaw's Diadem is also Horcrux, then there are only two unknown Horcrux left," Veratia said. "Our goal now is not only to destroy the known Horcrux, but also to find the two unknown Horcrux."
"I think Ominis knows something about those Horcrux," Harry said, turning to Ominis.
Ominis chuckled.
"You know me very well, Harry," he said. "I know a lot of secrets about Voldemort, such as... I know that he hid the Ravenclaw's Diadem he turned into Horcrux, in the Room of Requirement, and that the Gaunt Ring ... oh, the Resurrection Stone, was hidden by Voldemort in the tomb of Garrick."
"The tomb of Garrick?!" Harry asked in astonishment.
"Yes," Ominis nodded. "Voldemort recruited a group of Acromantula from somewhere, and he let them breed and multiply in the tomb of Garrick, to help him guard the Horcrux Resurrection Stone and prevent it from being stolen by someone."
"Thank you, Ominis!" Harry said with delight. "You've been a great help—"
"You're welcome, it's what I should do." Ominis suddenly said profoundly, "After all, I was the one who told Voldemort part of how to make Horcrux."
"Then why did you tell him, Mr. Gaunt?" Ron asked, dumbfounded.
"Oh, child," Ominis shook his head and said, "You probably don't know enough about Voldemort's evil—if I don't cooperate, he'll destroy my portrait, even the tomb where Anne is hiding..."
"Does he know where Anne is hiding?" Harry asked, puzzled.
"I don't know, I didn't tell him," Ominis said, shaking his head. "But if he were to use Dark Arts to extract memories from the portrait, do you think he could pull it off?"
You know what, once Ominis said that, everyone understood.
It's really not Ominis's fault. Even if he hadn't told Voldemort the solution, Voldemort could have figured out the Horcrux in a year or two by doing his own research.
"This isn't your fault, Ominis," Harry said softly. "We all know a great deal about Voldemort's evil—but Anne... how is she now?"
"That's good," Ominis said easily. "Her body is frozen in time, so the Dark Magic Curse won't take effect... But I still need to remind you that the prerequisite for you to rescue her is that you can cure her curse, otherwise... I'm worried that if you bring her out, it will cause the Dark Magic Curse to spread further."
"I understand," Harry nodded earnestly.
