But You Really Are a Dog
Hearing Hermione's question, Harry looked at Pabbie with some concern.
Unexpectedly, Pabbie raised her head, smiled happily, and said, "Oh, you found out. I am Pabbie Sweeting Hufflepuff."
"Cool!" Ron slapped his fist. "I knew you were something special. So you're Miss Sweeting..."
"Shut up, Ronald!"
Hermione rolled her eyes at Ron, thinking him too simple-minded.
"There are no Animagus in this world capable of transforming into Magical Creatures! At least, the books say, 'Never, ever try to become Magical Creatures!'"
Pabbie's eyes crinkled into a smile; she knew no one would believe her if she told the truth.
Instead of lying and hiding your true self, it's better to tell the truth directly.
As we all know, lies need countless lies to cover them up, but the truth does not.
"Oh, so Unicorn Lady can lie too?" Ron asked pitifully.
Pabbie didn't say anything, but gave Ron a meaningful look.
"Well, Ron, you're such a silly boy." Hermione shook her head helplessly.
"Miss Pabbie, am I really that stupid?" Ron looked at Pabbie expectantly.
Pabbie shook her head and laughed, saying, "Silly child, how could you be a silly child?"
Ron:...
He puffed out his cheeks, sadly hugged his legs, and turned away in another direction.
This aggrieved and wronged gesture made everyone burst into laughter.
Just then, Hagrid arrived with Fang.
When Harry saw Fang, he remembered that he had forgotten about Fang, who had collapsed on the spot, when he and Hagrid returned from the Forbidden Forest yesterday.
Harry was chatting with Firenze about Voldemort at the time; Hagrid was preoccupied with telling Dumbledore about it, so he forgot about Fang in the process.
"Miss Pabbie, oh—and you all, good afternoon," Hagrid greeted them, carrying something in his arms.
"Good afternoon, Hagrid," everyone greeted in unison.
Hagrid stepped forward, followed by Fang, and plopped down on the ground next to Ron.
"Oh," Hagrid said, "We forgot to take Fang with us when we came back yesterday, and I only remembered it when I got up this morning—by then it was already back. But then again, why did it faint? Fang is such a coward; it always runs away when there's danger."
"It fainted from fright, at the hands of that man in black," Harry said succinctly.
Upon hearing this, Fang prickled up immediately. It looked at Harry in disbelief, seemingly not expecting that this two-legged cub would wrong it like this.
It ran up to Harry unwillingly, barking loudly with its neck stiff, its eyes fixed on Harry, its little expression showing how wronged it was.
Harry understood; Fang clearly meant, "I may not be human, but you are a real dog."
Don't you know how I fainted?
"See?" Harry said to Hagrid. "It's angry."
"I have no doubt that it wants to speak," Pabbie said in agreement.
"Alright, alright, Fang," Hagrid beckoned Fang back to his side. "I know you're a coward, and fainting from fright isn't such a bad thing—"
Fang Ya let out two soft whimpers, then dejectedly returned to Hagrid's side and squatted down.
Oh no, the cowardly dog persona has been reinforced again!
The lunch break passed quickly, but fortunately there were only two Potions Class on Friday, with no classes in the afternoon or evening, so they could spend some more time with Pabbie.
However, the first-year students still needed to rest a little longer, so Harry could only say goodbye to the reluctant Pabbie, promising to bring her some more treats tomorrow, and return to his dormitory with his friends.
"My goodness, Harry, you actually know Unicorn!" Hermione, still somewhat intrigued. "Unicorn, they're such noble creatures..."
Harry didn't say much, he just smiled at Hermione.
"Harry..."
"Potter!"
Two voices approached from the left and right, and Harry felt two people wrapping their arms around his neck.
It's Fred and George.
"Come and chat with the older brothers," the two said in unison. "It's best if Miss Know-it-all finds out what we're up to."
Hermione blew on her bangs, deciding not to stoop to their level.
"You guys go back first, Fred, George, and I have something to discuss," Harry said to Ron and the others.
"I advise you to be careful," Ron warned. "Those two are not good people."
"Oh, Ronnie little darling," Fred and George exclaimed in unison, "You really look just like your mother."
Ron, who was about to say something more, blushed and lowered his head as he walked back to his dormitory after hearing "Ronnie little darling."
This statement was incredibly damaging to him, second only to being called out and penalized by Snape in Potions Class.
The three entered the Common Room, Harry asked first, "Hey, how's it going for you two? Any clues about what's hidden under Quirrell's hood?"
"No," Fred and George said in unison, "I haven't seen Professor Quirrell since the Defense Against the Dark Arts Class this week—it's like he's vanished from Hogwarts."
"Really?" Harry scratched his head. He had a feeling that something was off, but he couldn't quite put his finger on it.
"But that's not why we've come to see you this time," Fred said, pulling a biscuit from his pocket and handing it to Harry. "Here, Harry, take a look at this."
"What is this?" Harry picked up the golden biscuit and looked at it in the sunlight for a long time, but he still couldn't figure out what it was.
"Canary Cream Biscuit, Fred and I've come up with a new prank," George said with a grin. "Eating them will temporarily turn you into a human canary. It's a really fun little prank—"
Harry glanced at Fred, then at George.
"It seems you guys have a real talent for pranks." Harry placed the Canary Cream Biscuit on the table.
He had no enemies at school and couldn't think of anyone to use him for.
The twins seemed to sense Harry's lack of interest, so they whispered a reminder: "Think about it, Harry, if Quirrell eats this cookie and turns into a human canary, then the secret under his hood will be..."
As they spoke, they kept raising their eyebrows at Harry, their faces bearing identical wicked grins.
Harry imagined Quirrell as a canary in his mind...
"Isn't this a bit too much?" He suddenly felt a little sorry for Quirrell.
