Chapter 47: The Nature of the Warp
"That is your Warp nature."
On the streets of the Lower Hive, Zhou Yun and Lena walked together.
District Nine had been corrupted by Tzeentch, and there might still be a certain number of corrupted individuals in that sector.
Now, the PDF had sealed off the entire sector and, along with the Ecclesiarchy's priests, had begun a purification. It was even rumored that the Adepta Sororitas would intervene.
However, before the Adepta Sororitas entered District Nine, Zhou Yun and Lena had already returned to the Lower Hive using the passes provided by Augustus Flax.
Lena hugged the navigational log in her arms, her eyes filled with impatient excitement.
Zhou Yun's attention, however, was drawn to something else.
When he was corrupted by Tzeentch, he had vaguely seen his reflection in the Warp.
It was a blurry, indistinct, round, blue figure, seemingly without ears.
Even after Zhou Yun sold the black notebook using a Fourth-Dimensional Pocket, completely severing the corruption, he could still see the round, blue figure.
Through reflections in glass, burning flames, or dim twilight, he could see it.
The figure seemed to be his own reflection.
The winged figure in the white light said that it was Zhou Yun's Warp nature.
"I'm not a Primarch," Zhou Yun shook his head in denial.
Zhou Yun had a general idea of what Warp nature was.
Warp nature was the true Warp form of the Primarchs, hidden behind their humanity.
Some speculated that the Primarchs' nature was that of minor Warp gods, placed into human bodies by The Emperor.
Awakening one's Warp nature was equivalent to becoming a minor god again.
Corvus Corax had awakened his Warp nature, gaining the power to crush the Daemon Primarch Lorgar.
Zhou Yun didn't know if this theory was true, but he wasn't a Primarch, let alone a minor Warp god.
"Don't be stubborn like Guilliman."
The winged figure in the white light sighed and said:
"You saw it yourself, your reflection in the Warp is not in human form."
This was true.
Zhou Yun touched his chin, recalling his reflection in the Warp.
Blue, round, and without ears.
Familiar, very familiar.
Isn't that Doraemon?
Could his Warp nature be Doraemon?
A cat-type childcare robot from the 22nd century?
Zhou Yun said with a strange expression, "I think I know what my reflection in the Warp is."
"But I haven't awakened any Warp nature because of it."
He said, shrugging his shoulders.
Corvus Corax awakened his Warp nature and could directly crush Lorgar.
Why hadn't he changed at all?
"Knowing and awakening are two different things."
The winged figure in the white light shook its head.
"Even if you grabbed Guilliman by the ear and shouted, 'Your nature is in the Warp, you are a genuine demigod.'"
"Guilliman probably wouldn't awaken his Warp nature."
Zhou Yun nodded, understanding but not fully.
"The key is self-定位, you need to find your place in the Warp."
The winged figure in the white light continued:
"Tzeentch's corruption stimulated your self-preservation instinct, allowing you to vaguely realize the existence of your Warp nature."
"This can be considered a blessing in disguise. Normally, you should have already gained some abilities you didn't have before."
Zhou Yun's expression became even stranger as he listened, "Abilities? What kind of abilities?"
"Uh, probably things like flight, sensing others' emotions, warp jumping, being handsome, innate knowledge, numerology, turning into a crow, stealth, precognition, psychic talents, and so on."
The winged figure in the white light said indistinctly.
Hearing this, Zhou Yun couldn't help but frown.
"How are you so skilled?" Zhou Yun couldn't help but ask.
This figure seemed to know a little too much about the Warp, Did Sanguinius have this kind of knowledge?
Could it be that he was some one-eyed, sunburnt Ogryn in disguise.
"Among all my Primarch brothers, I was one of the first to realize I wasn't a product of the purely material world, and because of that, I gained a rudimentary understanding of my Warp nature."
The winged figure in the white light said softly, "Without the superhuman intellect my father bestowed upon me, I could have realized it through common sense alone."
"The pair of wings on my back absolutely couldn't fly through aerodynamics; they could only have been powered by Warp energy."
Hearing this, Zhou Yun let out a soft laugh.
"Next, you need to find your newly acquired abilities and use them to further understand your Warp nature," the winged figure in the white light said.
"I feel like I haven't gained any abilities," Zhou Yun shook his head.
The Fourth-Dimensional Pocket was a skill he had since he transmigrated, clearly not something brought about by his Warp nature.
He had no clue about any new abilities the winged figure in the white light mentioned.
Zhou Yun shrugged, pushing these troublesome matters to the back of his mind for now.
He just felt tired and wanted to go home and sleep.
Speaking of going home...
"Big Fool Lena, did you handle the matter I entrusted you with before going to the Upper Hive?"
Zhou Yun asked Lena.
Before he went to the Upper Hive, his home had been visited by an Eager Thief. Although Zhou Yun had discovered and driven them away, there was no guarantee the Eager Thief wouldn't make a comeback.
So Zhou Yun had entrusted Lena with a sum of money to arrange for members of the Ark Gang to patrol the vicinity.
This was to prevent his home from being burgled while he was away at the Upper Hive. Although most of Zhou Yun's possessions were in his Fourth-Dimensional Pocket, his home only contained a few changes of clothes and daily necessities.
"Don't worry, I've arranged everything,"
Lena said, patting her chest.
"Wait, what did you call me?"
"Want some sunflower seeds? How about you?" Zhou Yun chuckled and walked under the archway forged from scrap metal.
Lena snorted indignantly, then couldn't help but ask, "What exactly did you do back then? I only saw you take the notebook and then stuff it into your clothes."
Lena recalled the experience that night, her eyes filled with confusion.
"Just assume I used some kind of amazing tool," Zhou Yun said with a smile.
He passed through the archway made of scrap metal and, after squeezing through a crowded section of people, would be home.
"You're trying to fool me again," Lena frowned and said.
"I... Huh?"
Before Zhou Yun could retort, he froze in place.
He stood by the side of the street not far from his home, looking speechlessly at his front door, and then said, "I think you're the one trying to fool me."
Zhou Yun pointed at the iron gate of his house.
There was a smooth, perfectly round hole melted into his iron gate.
The cooled and solidified molten iron dripped down the hole like twisted vines.
Less than two centimeters from the hole was the gate's lock cylinder.
The lock cylinder itself was completely undamaged.
Zhou Yun could only marvel at the Eager Thief's exquisite craftsmanship.
Lena also stared blankly at the hole in Zhou Yun's doorway, "This..."
Had the Eager Thief visited Zhou Yun's house?
She had clearly arranged for people to patrol in front of Zhou Yun's house.
But where were the patrols? Why were they gone?
"If you don't explain this situation to me today, I'll use your illegal psyker steel plate to plug the hole tonight,"
Zhou Yun said, his eye twitching uncontrollably.
"Wait, let me see who's on duty today..."
"Where did the people go!"
Lena frowned, took out a small notebook from her pocket, and quickly flipped through it.
"Oh!"
Lena's eyes lit up with understanding:
"So it's Rag on duty today!"
Upon hearing this, Zhou Yun also showed a look of realization:
"So it's Rag! No wonder it's this guy screwing me over again!"
