Background / History

Hara Shichi entered the Duel Continent as an ordinary person with little to no personal Duel Power. After defeating Head Teacher Zhuxiu in a duel with his Madolche Deck, he earned enrollment at the Duelist Academy, with his room and board covered. He selected Gama the Kaiju from Zhuxiu's Deck as part of their agreement. 4 5

At the academy, he met Yukikaze and began exploring the forbidden mountain behind the school in search of Duel Spirits. There he encountered Ghost Ogre, whom he sought to recruit through his strength as a duelist. 6 7 He later entered the mountain's trials, including a duel against a spiritual body that copied his own deck and behavior; the experience forced him to confront his fear of the unfamiliar world and accept support from others. 10 11

Hara and Ai discovered that the academy harvested residual Duel Power to operate its facilities. While infiltrating the central control system, he encountered a masked girl and cooperated with her to escape through a two-versus-one duel, while both concealed their identities. 28 29 His growing public reputation eventually made anonymity difficult, particularly after his tournament performances and later Alliance work. 101 224

As his influence increased, Hara served as an examiner for former Crimson Lotus Society members and entered the Duelist Alliance's Special Operations Unit. Avis granted him the unit's treatment and Investigator authority, while the academy had already secured him a place in the Genesis Land. 192 205 He subsequently led or joined operations against illegal Duel Spirit trading and Dark Duel participants. 224 226

Hara ultimately revealed to his companions that he and Ai intended to stop the Dark Duel God and end Duel Power, despite the personal cost this would impose on duelists. 239 He continued the Dark Duel God's trials to investigate the connection between Ai, Yino, and the illusion worlds, eventually developing Soul Sync with Ai. 272 298

Despite his confidence, Hara does not regard himself as inherently special.
