Background / History

Yukikaze began as an insecure Duelist Academy student. After losing a duel and surrendering her deck to a girl in a white uniform, she viewed herself as too weak to attract a Duel Spirit or stand beside stronger duelists. Her deck had originally been given to her by her older sister, Shigure. 1 7 102

She had long known of the secret route to the academy’s forbidden back mountain and of Ghost Ogre, but lacked the courage to approach the spirit alone. After meeting Hara Shichi, Yukikaze led him through the passage behind the Blue-Eyes White Dragon statue in search of powerful Duel Spirits. 6 8

Her first Dark Duel against the black-clad men became a turning point. Determined not to remain weak or be left behind, Yukikaze outmaneuvered one opponent with her Six Flowers monsters while Hara defeated the other. 8 9 She later joined Hara, Julie, and Sera in opposing the Crimson Lotus Society, despite fearing she would become a burden to the team. 22

While exploring the forest, Yukikaze sealed Acorn Squirrel as her first Duel Spirit card. She also demonstrated a strong affinity with Duel Spirits: she heard a captive spirit’s call for help, communicated with it telepathically, and helped lead the group into a confrontation with Spirit hunters. 33 34

Yukikaze represented Duelist Academy in the National Higher Academy Tournament. Appearance

Yukikaze is a delicate, fair-skinned girl with white hair and clear blue eyes. Her white hair is distinct from Nakamura Mie’s more silvery shade, a difference that exposed Yukikaze’s disguise. 323

Personality

She is compassionate toward Duel Spirits and unwilling to treat them as disposable tools. After sealing Acorn Squirrel, her first concern was whether keeping it away from its home would make it lonely. She also asks her Duel Spirits to be gentle when attacking an opponent directly. 33 66

Yukikaze values fairness over victory. When Ai offered assistance that would let her perform an Xyz Summon against Nero, Yukikaze refused because using cards printed specifically for her would make the duel unfair. 48 49

Though shy and easily flustered around Hara Shichi, she becomes increasingly proactive with him, inviting him to explore the Royal Capital and acting as his guide. She also experiences jealousy over his closeness with Nero. 53 100 101
