Background / History

Lin Zihan is a Human cultivator afflicted by a potent poison that transformed her legs into an iridescent serpent tail and embedded itself deeply in her soul. The poison could be suppressed but not conventionally purged, leaving her dependent on extreme measures to regain her condition. 213 215

She rescued Lin Qiushui as an infant after Qiushui's parents were killed by demonic beasts. Lin Zihan raised her, guided her cultivation, and eventually made her Palace Master of Yunshui Palace; their relationship is described as closer than that of ordinary master and disciple. 311

When Jiang Ping'an offered to use Karma Cleansing Skyfire to remove her poison, Lin Zihan endured its near-fatal pain in her true form. The treatment removed much of the poison but left a stubborn remnant rooted in her soul; subsequent treatments, Nine Yin Profound Water Pills, and dual cultivation gradually weakened it further. 213 215 313 318

After learning of Yunshui Palace's destruction at the hands of Zhong Sheng Temple, Lin Zihan resolved to become stronger, rebuild the sect, and seek revenge. She later underwent the Sage's Tribulation of the Heavens at Sky Lake Mountain, succeeding with Jiang Ping'an and Lin Qiushui protecting her from hostile interference. 317 383 385

Following her ascension, Lin Zihan learned that her earlier intense affection for Jiang Ping'an had been influenced by the Karma Cleansing Skyfire. Lin Zihan normally appears as an exceptionally tall woman, roughly eight feet in height, with an aloof bearing and a seven-colored serpent tail in place of legs. Her poison-induced true form is vastly larger, exceeding ten zhang in height and approximately forty zhang in total length with her tail. 213 318

She is pragmatic about the Great Wilderness's brutality, warning Jiang Ping'an that acting impulsively against oppression could endanger him. At the same time, she acts decisively against those who exploit humans, including the Black Cipher Society and Celestial Race-controlled mines. 214 219 313

As a master, Lin Zihan is protective but demanding. She opposes Lin Qiushui's attempt to use Karma Cleansing Skyfire as a shortcut, fearing the hidden price and danger, yet ultimately refuses to forcibly control her disciple's choices. 390
