Background

Lan Yu originated from Saint Lan Yu's tomb. When she first appeared before Jiang Ping'an, she claimed to be Saint Lan Yu's opposite—her “antithesis”—and tried to secure his trust by revealing the tomb's entrance and treasures. Jiang Ping'an suspected that she was a Fiend, but Vice-Dean Lu Yueren could not detect any Fiendish aura from her. 107 108

During this period, Lan Yu presented herself as Jiang Ping'an's devoted personal maid. She had only recently gained spiritual intelligence and, according to her own account at the time, had never previously left the tomb or interacted with others. After ten days with Jiang Ping'an, she gave him a detailed map of Saint Lan Yu's Tomb and warned that she could not enter it again, fearing Saint Lan Yu would resurrect within her body. 108 109

Less than three months later, the Saint's Corpse lured Lan Yu back into the tomb and a Fiend possessed her. Jiang Ping'an expelled the Fiend, but Lan Yu subsequently restrained Liu Xixu from entering the Main Burial Chamber while Jiang Ping'an confronted the Saint's Corpse. She later aided Jiang Ping'an after he obtained the Creation Furnace, including tending to his wounds. 138 139

Lan Yu remained at Jiang Ping'an's side during his expansion into the Great Wilderness, assisting with travel, intelligence, estate management, and cultivation. She guarded his Law Manifestation Realm tribulation, helped administer Ye Manor, and fought alongside Jiang Ping'an, Lin Zihan, and Lin Qiushui during the raid on the Spirit Stone Mine. 185 243 325

After fleeing into the Dragonfall Forbidden Zone, Lan Yu survived there by relying on her unusual affinity with Fiendish environments. Jiang Ping'an located and rescued her; she then refined a Fiend Dragon soul to advance her cultivation.
