Background
Toni grew up in the United States after his highly educated Huaxian parents emigrated there. His father was from Xiajing and his mother from Shanghai; both were notable figures in Huaxia’s technology circles before settling in America. Toni’s father also taught Chen Mengchuan’s father during his time at Xia Science Academy. 80 81
He earned a Ph.D. in Computer Artificial Intelligence from Harvard and spent seven years as a core technical member of Oracle Corporation. Ke University recruited him two years before Chen Mengchuan approached him, where he became its leading expert in large-scale AI machinery and one of the field’s foremost specialists. 15
Toni joined Chen Mengchuan and Xu Shuwei after learning of the planned autonomous AI, Achen. He and Xu resigned from Ke University alongside a large group of core personnel, creating major disruption within the university’s AI department. 25 26
Appearance
Toni is about 1.8 meters tall, with a well-proportioned build. He is consistently depicted wearing glasses, often adjusting them while speaking or thinking. 24 33
- Gold-rimmed glasses during his first meeting with Chen Mengchuan. 24
- Initially dressed in a plain gray crew-neck T-shirt, jeans, and sneakers. 24
- Described as clean and efficient in demeanor despite his ordinary clothing. 24
- Later described as tall and thin when stepping onto Rainbow Star. 347
Personality
Toni is calm, direct, and intensely analytical. He usually approaches business, research, and crises with measured professionalism, including when Bagua faced a coordinated defamation campaign; he responded by arranging evidence collection and legal action rather than reacting emotionally. 74
Behind this composure is a pronounced zeal for technology. He becomes visibly fervent when discussing high-end robotic arms, Eternal Universe Particles, space-time traversal, and extraterrestrial exploration. His long-standing ambition was to create the world’s best robotic arm, an ambition shaped in part by the career ceiling he encountered at Oracle. 40 76 105
Toni is curious about unfamiliar civilizations and lifeforms, often more willing than Chen Mengchuan to personally experience unknown environments. This curiosity drove him to seek a human outpost on Rainbow Star and to engage deeply with its intelligent species. 343 347
His pragmatism can become harsh. Following the Island Nation’s destruction, he argued that its civilian deaths were an unavoidable cost of humanity’s political unification, provoking a violent confrontation with Xu Shuwei. 336 However, his time among Rainbow Star’s civilizations also revealed his empathy: rather than ordering their extermination for mining access, he ordered their evacuation. 357

Toni became a core researcher in Eternal Universe Particle theory and led much of Tenzhi’s practical space-time traversal work. 116 132
- Helped validate the theoretical model for point-to-point spatial transmission of Eternal Universe Particles with Simba, Chen Xiaoyun, and Achen. 132
- Led the first successful space-time traversal experiment, in which a paper ball passed through a steel plate and reappeared beyond it. 135
- Continued testing objects of different materials and sizes after the initial breakthrough. 135
- Oversaw the 15-meter traversal test and became, alongside Chen Mengchuan, one of the first humans to step through a source point circle. 155
- Led tests reaching 30 meters with a 15-meter-diameter disk and later prepared folded traversal tests over far greater distances. 159 181
- Completed space-time traversal experiments spanning a direct distance of 23,760 kilometers. 285
- Advocated for improvements to source-point positioning, activation speed, and independent energy storage to reduce traversal cooldown time. 187
Space Exploration and Infrastructure
Toni later applied his engineering and scientific expertise to Mars development and interstellar exploration.
- Managed plans for Mars energy infrastructure, including six nuclear plants and 128 graphene solar power stations. 292
- Participated in the Europa mission, helped assess the ice tunnels, and became deeply invested in the discovery of extraterrestrial life beneath the ice. 304 306
- Led the exploration mission to Barnard’s Star, where his team discovered four Earth-like planets. 338
- Volunteered to establish a human base on Rainbow Star and personally trained for over ten hours per day to operate a medium-sized gravity mecha. 343 345
- Led Rainbow Star’s resource-development effort after the evacuation of intelligent civilizations from mining areas, exceeding the original extraction target by 50%. 357
- Coordinated resource development, metal smelting, asteroid exploration, and fleet formation on a blue-green refuge planet during humanity’s evacuation. 365
