Background / History

Ryoma first encounters Li Ming at an airport while travelling with a young girl under his care. When a gravity-wielding Honkai entity appears, he immediately attempts to move the girl to safety, recognizes the attacker’s control over gravity as an ability of the First Herrscher, and remains composed despite the escalating situation. Although nearby bodyguards succumb to Honkai erosion and transform into Mantis, Ryoma and the girl appear unaffected. 1

During the ensuing battle, Ryoma sends a distress signal, identifies the clone’s core as its likely weakness, and provides covering fire with his handgun. His shots breach the clone’s one-directional shield, helping force it into its pseudo-black-hole attack. When Li Ming needs funds to access stronger equipment, Ryoma lends him a card containing one million Schicksal Coins without hesitation. 2

After Li Ming destroys the core, Ryoma declines repayment for the 30,000 Schicksal Coins spent and gives Li Ming his ME Company business card. He offers assistance with Li Ming’s Honkai erosion and later formally employs him as a bodyguard while arranging serum treatment and access to further education. 2 3 5

During a month of travel through Schicksal with Li Ming and Raiden Yae, Ryoma provides Li Ming with food, lodging, sightseeing expenses, and opportunities to study engineering concepts. After returning to the Far East, Ryoma reports Li Ming’s abilities to his superiors and investigates the attacks directed at himself and Yae. He concludes that the HK Organization’s assault and the First Herrscher clone incident were connected to H&K Company, whose Modified USP technology had been used to track him. 19 25

When Anti-Entropy detects a possible extraterrestrial threat, Tesla orders Ryoma to deploy personnel and establish the Silver Bullet Array in New Mexico. While reviewing the situation, Ryoma is particularly concerned that Li Ming may be suffering renewed Honkai corrosion after exposure to the mutated clone. 39

Ryoma is calm, observant, and decisive under pressure. Even when confronted by a suspected Herrscher-level threat, he focuses first on protecting the child beside him, assesses the enemy’s weaknesses, and coordinates a response rather than panicking. 1 2
