However, the myriad beings did not wait for Jieyin and Zhunti's signs of enlightenment. Instead, the news of the Three Pure Ones opening their sects caused the entire Primordial Desolation to erupt once more.
Saints were supreme, immortal, and eternal, existing alongside the Heavenly Dao, maintaining the operation of heaven and earth. By becoming a disciple of a Saint, one not only received superior mystical methods and listened to the Great Dao of the Saints, but also received the Saints' protection, thus avoiding death in the Witch-Demon wars.
"The Saints are merciful!"
Across the vast lands of the Primordial Desolation, countless beings faced "Mount Kunlun," performed grand salutes, kowtowed in worship, and declared loudly.
With his Second Senior Brother and Master having attained enlightenment, Li Yunjing heard the Great Dao of Saints twice more. This was already the fourth time Li Yunjing had participated in a Saint's sermon. Each Saint possessed their own understanding of the Great Dao.
These profound truths provided Li Yunjing with different perspectives and ideas for his understanding of the "Dao." This was the benefit of being a Saint's disciple; without the prestige of the Three Pure Ones, he would not have had such an opportunity.
Due to the influx of guests from all directions, Primordial Heavenly Venerate and Sect Master Tongtian only preached for three years, offering a mere taste. The law cannot be easily transmitted, and naturally, truly valuable things could not be given to the great divine abilities of the Primordial Desolation.
"What a pity! With my Second Senior Brother and Master establishing their own sects, they are bound to go their separate ways in the future. I must take this opportunity to gain more benefits from Uncle-Master Laozi and Uncle-Master Primordial."
After finishing his listening to the sermon, Li Yunjing appeared worried, not even clearly hearing Winged Immortal when he called him.
"Hey! Senior Brother Li, what are you thinking about? Did the Master's sermon grant you great enlightenment, and you're preparing to sever a corpse?" Winged Immortal teased.
"Nonsense! Do I have that kind of talent? Severing a corpse? With what would I sever a corpse? I'm just pondering some principles I don't understand!" Li Yunjing retorted with a laugh. He and Winged Immortal were old friends, so he spoke much more casually than with others.
On the entire "Mount Kunlun," apart from Winged Immortal, Li Yunjing wore a mask of pretense, cautiously interacting with everyone else. Here, he was careful with his words and actions, fearing that a single misstep might offend someone and create karma.
It was only recently, after advancing to "Grand Unity Golden Immortal" and greatly increasing his strength, that Li Yunjing felt much more at ease. As long as a renowned figure from the Primordial Desolation didn't intend to kill him, he would generally not be in danger.
Moreover, with his Master, Sect Master Tongtian, having attained enlightenment, and with such a protective Master, who among the Quasi-Saints of the Primordial Desolation would dare to provoke a direct disciple of a Saint?
"Let's go! Accompany me to the 'Chaos Palace' for some tea!"
Adjusting his mindset, Li Yunjing suppressed his worries about the future, smiled, and invited Winged Immortal to try his "Five Elements Spirit Fruit" and "Enlightenment Tea Leaves."
While Li Yunjing was relaxed, the establishment of the Three Pure Ones' sects became the most discussed topic in the Primordial Desolation.
Time flew by, and a full thousand years passed.
Innumerable beings rushed to "Mount Kunlun" from all corners of the Primordial Desolation.
All sorts of innate beings, the Demon Race, and even the Human Race, gathered below Mount Kunlun, excluding only those beings without a Nascent Soul who could not cultivate the Xuanmen Great Dao, but possessed ambition and aptitude.
The Primordial Desolation was vast. In this thousand years, countless beings seeking the Dao had died along the way, whether due to the harsh and dangerous regions of the Primordial Desolation, the conflicts among the Ancestral Witches, the Demon Race, or other beings. This resulted in less than one in a hundred who managed to reach "Mount Kunlun."
At this moment, having endured countless hardships, a journey far more brutal than the later Journey to the West, hundreds of thousands of beings stood at the foot of the mountain. They gazed at the faintly visible "Three Pure Ones Palace" atop Mount Kunlun, their eyes filled with excitement and anticipation.
"Rumble!"
Accompanied by thunderous roars from the nine heavens, the "Three Pure Ones Palace," previously hidden at the peak of Mount Kunlun, emerged from the void.
Violet energy surged for thirty thousand miles, and auspicious rays hung across the firmament.
Between heaven and earth, countless golden lotuses appeared. As these golden lotuses half-opened and half-closed, they inhaled and exhaled countless auspicious energies. Visions of celestial maidens scattering flowers manifested in the void, accompanied by the profound sounds of the Great Dao, resonating like great bells throughout heaven and earth.
When a Saint appears, heaven and earth celebrate!
Three figures, shattering the heavens and earth, suddenly appeared before the "Three Pure Ones Palace."
As the light and shadow dissipated, the Grand Pure Saint, the Jade Pure Saint, and the Upper Pure Saint appeared.
The Grand Pure Saint, Taishang Laojun, clad in a Taiji Daoist robe, sat upon the Taiji Diagram. Behind him, a colossal Yin-Yang fish faintly materialized, with Yin and Yang giving birth to each other, and the Five Elements revolving, expounding the profound principles of the Heavenly Dao to all beings.
The Jade Pure Primordial Heavenly Venerate held the Three Treasures Jade Ruyi and sat upon a lotus throne, exuding an air of nobility and majesty. His aura intimidated all heavens, and behind him, an image of the primordial creation of heaven and earth appeared.
The Upper Pure Sect Master Tongtian, wearing a cyan Daoist robe and holding the Qingping Sword, had phantom images of four divine swords appearing around him. Their sword intent pierced the heavens, dimming the sun and moon, and silencing the seas and the eight directions.
The simultaneous appearance of the three Saints gave rise to countless phenomena in heaven and earth, making all things and beings in the Primordial Desolation once again feel the immense and imposing majesty of the Saints.
"We pay our respects to the Three Pure Saints! May the Saints live for eternity!"
Below Mount Kunlun, countless beings were overcome with emotion and bowed in reverence towards the Three Pure Ones.
"You may rise!"
A majestic Daoist voice echoed in all directions, and an invisible force swept across heaven and earth, causing all beings to stand up unconsciously.
Before the Three Pure Ones Palace, Primordial Heavenly Venerate swept his gaze over the foot of the mountain, instantly discerning the origins and backgrounds of all the beings present. He frowned almost imperceptibly and said gravely, "Your ability to reach Mount Kunlun indicates you possess some destiny. From today onwards, the Chan Sect will select disciples based on merit. If you pass, you may become my disciple."
With that, Primordial Heavenly Venerate fell silent. He waved his sleeve, and countless Heavenly Dao talismans transformed into formation bases. A corner of Mount Kunlun became a celestial formation disk, which then transformed into a grand trial formation, completely obscuring the celestial stairs leading to the Jade Void Palace.
The Chan Sect, founded by Primordial Heavenly Venerate, adhered to the principle of following heaven and responding to humanity. It categorized the beings of the Primordial Desolation into different ranks, allowing only those with deep roots to become Primordial's disciples.
In his view, most of those who came to seek discipleship this time were from the Demon Race, known for their pugnacity, ignorance of heavenly principles, and being burdened by karma and lacking merit.
Among the remaining beings, only a small portion were barely to his liking. Therefore, he set up this grand trial formation for the most rigorous selection.
"The Great Dao has fifty principles, and heaven's evolution has forty-nine. The Jie Sect seizes a single thread of life. Anyone with a heart seeking the Dao, who can pass this test of the heart and ascend Mount Kunlun, may become my disciple, Tongtian!"
Before Tongtian's voice even finished, the phantom images of the four divine swords around him trembled and landed in another area at the foot of the mountain, transforming into a magnificent formation with sword intent soaring to the heavens. As long as someone could pass through this formation, they could enter the Jie Sect. This was much easier compared to the Chan Sect.
Indeed, Primordial Heavenly Venerate, hearing Tongtian's words, frowned slightly. The two great sects, due to their doctrines, began to have disputes from this very moment.
Taishang Laojun, however, remained silent, showing no intention of accepting disciples. He was the head of the Three Pure Ones and also the leader of the Human Teachings. He should have opened his gates widely, but Laozi valued tranquility and non-action, unwilling to expend more energy on teaching disciples. Previously, he had only accepted a mortal, Xuandu, on "Shouyang Mountain" as his successor, which was a clever way of handling it.
The matter of greatly expanding the Xuanmen would fall upon Primordial Heavenly Venerate and Sect Master Tongtian, the two great Xuanmen sects.
