Background / History

Creation and early calamities

Pangu opened heaven and earth and, upon perishing, became part of the newborn world: his blood became its rivers, lakes, and seas, while his remains formed its natural features. The Taiji Diagram, Pangu Banner, and Chaos Bell subsequently merged into heaven and earth, stabilizing the world and separating it into sky and earth 407 408.

The world was repeatedly damaged during the War of the Three Clans and the Dao-Demon Conflict. The latter left the land shattered and caused its innate spiritual energy to dissipate, though the world later recovered enough vitality for powerful beings to rise again 1.

Reforging into the Earth Immortal Realm

The Witch-Demon War destroyed one-fifth of the world and left more than half of Primordial Desolation in ruins. Its geography shifted into the East Victory Divine Continent, West Niuhe Continent, South Continent, and North Jùlú Continent, while innate spiritual energy became scarce outside Blessed Lands 52.

When the Investiture of the Gods calamity shattered the world again, Dao Ancestor Hongjun extracted broken land, turning fragments into stars and forming a cosmic starry sky. He re-refined the four continents and four seas into the Earth Immortal Realm, a compact world able to endure Quasi-Saint battles but containing only acquired spiritual energy 129.

Formation of the Four Realms

The opening of the Demon Realm connected it to the existing Three Realms, creating the Primordial Four Realms 297.

End of Dharma and renewal

During the End of Dharma Tribulation, spiritual energy became too scarce for the Earth Immortal Realm, Demon Realm, Nine Netherworlds, and Thirty-Three Heavens to naturally produce Immortals. The Earth Immortal Realm regressed into a low-martial world, where even Qi Cultivation to Spirit Transformation practitioners were regarded as sect elders or experts 426.

The return of spiritual energy later caused dormant races and inherited bloodlines to awaken. Blessed Lands became contested as mortals, beasts, and ancient survivors regained supernatural potential 444.

World Properties

Heavenly Dao and World Origin

The Primordial World's Heavenly Dao issues warnings when the world faces existential danger. During the invasion of the God Realm, it empowered inhabitants who resisted the invaders while suppressing the foreign army 456 463.

The world is enclosed by a Crystal Wall System separating it from Chaos. It functions as a boundary and defensive barrier, though it was breached by the God Realm's invasion force 450 462.

The Calamity of Outer Heavenly Demons

A supreme being opened a fixed space-time channel through Chaos to the Primordial World's vicinity, beginning the invasion of the Outer Heavenly Demons 456. The God Realm surrounded the world, shattered its Crystal Wall System, and launched a comprehensive assault on the Heavenly Realm, the Earth Immortal Realm, and the Outer Rim Universe 462 465.

Although the Heavenly Realm eventually fell, the defenders withdrew to the Earth Immortal Realm, where the Four Great Sacred Beasts were awakened as a final defensive measure 475. The Primordial World's sects, races, and ancient powerhouses eventually annihilated the trapped God Realm army in a final battle 492.

The victory came at a severe cost. The Earth Immortal Realm, Heavenly Realm, Thirty-Three Heavens, and Demon Realm were largely shattered; only the Land of Nine Netherworlds remained relatively intact 497.

Reconstruction and New Era

The Saints and Hunyuan chose not to restore the shattered world because its World Origin was depleted and reconstruction would require them to consume their own Origin Power 497. Instead, surviving factions claimed fragments, established new worlds, and resettled their people.

The Human Race emerged as the principal beneficiary, taking control of most remaining territory, world fragments, and newly formed worlds 497.

Ten Kalpas later, the Primordial World had become a cosmic universe. The Land of Nine Netherworlds remained its origin, while a new Heavenly Realm was formed from remnants of the former Heavenly Realm, Thirty-Three Heavens, and Earth Immortal Realm 498.

• New cultivation systems—including Martial Arts, Spirit Path, Divine Path, and Confucian Path—arose alongside older traditions. 498
• The Intercepting Sect controlled the Nine Nether Underworld, while the Witch Clan guarded the Six Paths of Reincarnation. 498
