Hu Shu took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. He clenched his fists, his eyes filled with determination and resolve. Despite the unknown dangers ahead, he would not retreat. He took a step forward, slowly walking towards the giant dark shadow. Each step felt like it landed on the sole of his foot, and the secrets of this strange region seemed to await his discovery.
The sky's eerie dark red intensified, as if stained by blood. Black smoke continuously billowed from the cracks in the ground, its pungent odor making Hu Shu frown. The giant dark shadow in the distance flickered in and out of sight within the smoke, accompanied by low roars that sounded like a colossal beast warning off intruders.
Just as Hu Shu was fully focused on his surroundings, a pack of wolf-like demons suddenly charged out from all directions. They moved with agility, their eyes glinting with bloodlust, their sharp fangs gleaming coldly in the dim red light. Hu Shu's heart tightened, and he quickly activated his Invincible Domain. Wherever the domain extended, the wolf demons seemed to hit an invisible wall, falling to the ground. However, their sheer numbers meant they attacked relentlessly, constantly battering the domain.
While maintaining the domain, Hu Shu pondered his next move. Just as he began to feel strained, a dazzling golden light shot from afar. Wherever the light passed, the wolf demons screamed and turned to ash. Hu Shu was startled, turning to look. He saw an ancient elder with white hair, holding a whisk, slowly descending from the sky. The elder wore a white robe, his sleeves fluttering, his face kind yet carrying a hint of authority.
Hu Shu was filled with curiosity and wariness at the elder's sudden appearance. He stared intently at the elder, ready to react to any potential danger. After landing, the elder looked at Hu Shu and smiled faintly, "Young friend, there's no need to be nervous. I mean no harm." Hu Shu didn't lower his guard, asking, "Who are you? Why are you here, and why did you help me?" The elder gently waved his whisk, and the residual black smoke around them instantly dissipated. He then slowly said, "I was entrusted by an old friend to lend you a hand."
Hu Shu's confusion deepened, and he pressed further, "An old friend? Which old friend?" The elder didn't answer directly but gazed into the distance, as if lost in thought. After a moment, he said, "Young friend, do you know that the Human Race's development has always been secretly hindered by certain forces?" Hu Shu's heart stirred, recalling his previous encounters, and he quickly replied, "I wish to hear more."
The elder's expression turned serious. "The mastermind behind this is the Heavenly Origin Sect. To maintain their dominance and control over resources in the Primordial World, they fear the rise of the Human Race threatening them, so they constantly scheme in secret to obstruct the Human Race's growth. In this Tribulation of Witches and Demons, they even intend to make the Human Race a sacrifice." Hu Shu's heart burned with anger upon hearing this. He gritted his teeth and said, "I never expected the Heavenly Origin Sect to be so despicable!"
The elder nodded and continued, "Not only do they target the Human Race during the tribulation, but they also plant spies among the humans daily to monitor their every move. The slightest disturbance will result in suppression." Hu Shu clenched his fists, a hint of ferocity flashing in his eyes. "I will never let them succeed!" The elder looked at Hu Shu, his eyes showing approval. "It is good that you have such resolve, young friend. However, the Heavenly Origin Sect is powerful, so you must proceed with caution."
Hu Shu took a deep breath, trying to quell his anger, and asked, "Senior, could you tell me who the old friend who entrusted you to help me is?" The elder smiled faintly but didn't answer, merely saying, "The time is not yet right. You will know in the future." With that, the elder's figure flickered and vanished from his spot.
Hu Shu gazed in the direction the elder had disappeared, his mind filled with questions. Although he had learned part of the truth from the elder, he still didn't know the elder's identity or the identity of the old friend behind him. At this moment, the air around them seemed to freeze, eerily silent. Hu Shu knew that he now faced the powerful enemy, the Heavenly Origin Sect, yet he hadn't even fully grasped their specific plans. How to counter the Heavenly Origin Sect's schemes had become a difficult problem before him. And this strange, dangerous region might still hide more secrets related to the Heavenly Origin Sect's plot, waiting for him to uncover them.
