Background / History
Kong Xuan was born with exceptional talent and a Five Elements Origin inherited from his mother. His cultivation progressed smoothly from the beginning, and his formidable combat power fostered a proud, unyielding temperament. He is the elder brother of Winged Immortal and holds responsibilities within the Phoenix Tribe. 166 167
He first encounters Jiang Yun after Jiang defeats his younger brother's Great Roc. Recognizing that Jiang Yun had not intended serious harm, Kong Xuan proposes a full-power battle to settle their dispute. Their clash ends without a decisive victor: Jiang Yun's star formation and Kong Xuan's Five-Colored Radiance Minor World collapse against one another, injuring both combatants. 47 49
Over tens of thousands of years, Kong Xuan helps the Western Teachings develop its Spirit Lands while continuing his own cultivation. His rivalry with Jiang Yun develops into a close friendship founded on repeated sparring, mutual recognition, and shared Five Elements cultivation. 166 167
At Ancestor Phoenix's direction, Kong Xuan leads one hundred Phoenix Tribe elites—including Winged Immortal—to Mount Sumeru. He accepts a Heavenly Dao oath, becomes a Guardian of the Western Teachings, and is later appointed Hall Master of the newly established Guardian Temple. 170 173
Appearance
Kong Xuan has an agile bearing, colorful feathers, and sharp, cold eyes. In battle, five-colored divine light manifests behind him in rings, halos, dragons, or a radiant minor world. 47 49 240
- Often appears in Five-Colored Immortal Robes. 243
- His Five-Colored Divine Light can dye the surrounding space into a five-colored realm. 173
- Carries himself with a stern, imposing presence, though he smiles openly around Jiang Yun. 166
Personality
Kong Xuan is intensely proud and competitive, particularly toward opponents he considers worthy. He seeks out Jiang Yun for sparring because most cultivators of comparable strength cannot withstand more than a few of his moves. 166
His pride is tempered by a strong sense of fairness. He challenges Jiang Yun only after judging that Jiang Yun did not mean to seriously harm his brother, and he seeks to settle their dispute through an equal contest rather than retaliation. 47
As his duties grow, he becomes more mature and responsible. He accepts Ancestor Phoenix's mission, organizes the Phoenix Tribe's integration into the Western Teachings, and later takes personal responsibility for protecting the Human Race in fulfillment of his promise to Jiang Yun. 171 173 240
