Heavenly Dao

The Heavenly Dao is the supreme will produced by the world's laws, karmic cycles, and the operation of all things. It is formless and omnipresent, maintaining the Primordial Desolation World's fundamental order and balance 211.

After Hongjun attained the Dao, the Great Dao retreated and the Heavenly Dao became dominant within the world 16. Hongjun later united himself with it as its spokesperson rather than replacing it outright 211.

Three Ways of Heaven, Earth, and Man

The world is meant to be governed through a balance of three great orders:

• Heavenly Dao — governs celestial order and exercises the broadest authority.
• Way of Earth — governs the earth, Earth Veins, the Nine Netherworlds, and reincarnation.
• Way of Man — is tied to living beings and the Human Race's development.

The imbalance created by the Heavenly Dao's dominance became a central structural problem; Jiang Yun argued that the world required the balance of all Three Ways rather than rule by a single power 197 222.

Condition and Deficiencies

The world has suffered extensive damage across its history. In the west, shattered Earth Veins, scarce Spiritual Energy, and wandering souls weakened the land; the failure of deceased beings to return their essence to heaven and earth further depleted the world's Origin 122.

History

Creation and Ancient Calamities

Pangu created the world by separating the clear from the turbid, after which his body transformed into all things. The newborn realm later endured the Great Tribulation of Fierce Beasts, the Dragon-Phoenix Tribulation, and the War of Immortals and Demons 1.

The Dragon, Phoenix, and Qilin Races originally held immense Fortune as beings formed from Pangu's flesh and blood essence. Their conflicts were manipulated by Luohu, while Hongjun used the resulting calamity to remove rivals and gather the Merit and Fortune that enabled his sainthood 227.

Decline of the Way of Earth

The destruction of the western lands severely damaged the world's Earth Veins and Spirit Veins. The Reincarnation Demon God's corpse and remnant soul were suppressed beneath the world, while the Twelve-petal Reincarnation Purple Lotus gradually developed into the supreme treasure of the Nine Netherworlds' Way of Earth 136.

Over time, the Way of Earth lost Origin and fell dormant. The Reincarnation Purple Lotus had to rely on the True Spirits of dead beings to reinforce its suppression of the Demon God's remnant soul 136.

Return of the Nine Netherworlds

Jiang Yun and his allies destroyed the Chaos vortex at the Abyss entrance, allowing the Nine Netherworlds to begin reconnecting with the Primordial Desolation 153. Nearly ten thousand years later, the membrane dividing the two worlds finally broke completely 215.

The returned Nine Netherworlds restored a crucial portion of the Way of Earth's Origin. Reincarnation and Nirvana fed back into the terrestrial world, completing laws, improving Yin-Yang balance, and prompting enlightenment among many cultivators 215.

Witch-Demon Era and Its End

The Witch and Demon Clans became the dominant powers after the Immortal Court's destruction, forcing the world's lesser races and rogue cultivators to choose sides 185. Their eventual war pushed the Primordial Desolation to the brink of devastation, as the Heavenly Cycle Stars Great Formation and Twelve Capital Gods and Fiends Great Array wielded power capable of overturning heaven and earth 303 307.

Di Jun and Dijiang died during the final conflict, ending the Witch-Demon era's World-Ending Tribulation 313 314. The resulting power vacuum allowed Saint factions to seize former Witch and Demon territories, while the collapse of the Demon Court destabilized the starry sky 314.

Restoration and New Orders

Following the celestial disorder, Hongjun appointed Haotian as Heavenly Emperor and Yaochi as Heavenly Official to restore order 314. The Heavenly Court later received support from multiple Saint factions, Star Lords, rogue immortals, and the Queen Mother of the West 316.

The Human Race gradually expanded across the world, developing civilization, forming alliances with the Dragon, Phoenix, Qilin, and Four Symbols Sacred Beast lineages, and establishing a protective formation rooted in the Primordial Desolation 229 328.

Reincarnation and the Nine Netherworlds

Houtu's establishment of reincarnation renewed the Nine Netherworlds World and stabilized its laws 220. The resulting Underworld distributes authority among several factions:
