Background / History

Guided by the Heavenly Dao to a master-disciple fate, Jieyin finds Jiang Yun in the Mount Sumeru range. He evaluates Jiang Yun's composure, merit, physical cultivation, and affinity with Western fortune before accepting him as his first disciple and bringing him to Mount Sumeru. He names Jiang Yun his personal senior disciple and entrusts him with cultivating good deeds and preserving his original intent. 12 13

Alongside Zhunti, Jieyin instructs Jiang Yun in the Mount Sumeru Treasure Record, the Grand Unity Realm, causality, Bodhi, and Nirvana. He tempers his teaching to Jiang Yun's capacity, ending a century-long sermon rather than overwhelming him with further principles. He also bestows the Golden Spirit Pearl to strengthen Jiang Yun's Five Qi and Dao foundation. 13 14

Jieyin and Zhunti initially seek opportunities for the West at Purple Heaven Palace, securing meditation cushions and later forming ties with the Three Pure Ones, Zhenyuanzi, and Hongyun.
