Background / History

Lu Xin grew up in Qinggang and has fragmented memories of his childhood. He lived at Crimson Moon Orphanage, where Teacher Lu’s kindness left a lasting influence on him. His past is connected to Professor Wang Jingyun, the orphanage’s former dean and a former second-generation Crimson Moon Research Institute researcher. Lu Xin later learned that Wang had two assistants: Chen Xun and Sun Zhong, the latter having remained near the orphanage as its old security guard. 274 386 774

After the Crimson Moon incident, Lu Xin lived alone in Satellite City No. 2 and worked at an ordinary company. He maintained an outwardly routine life while perceiving his mother, father, sister, and other entities that ordinary people could not see. 8 10 479

Chen Jing recruited him after he helped eliminate a Level 1 Mental Monster. He first joined the Guard Division’s Special Action Team as external personnel, receiving training, a satellite phone, an ID card, and a revolver. He later became a full-time Special Talent and accepted increasingly dangerous cleanup assignments. 9 10 174

Lu Xin’s early missions established his reputation in Qinggang. He protected Crimson Moon Orphanage from the Headless Knight, pursued threats outside the city walls, completed the Happy Town exploration, and demonstrated enough reliability for Qinggang’s researchers to regard him as a key but dangerous asset. 62 63 166 237

As his memories resurfaced, Lu Xin began actively investigating the orphanage, the Old Director, Professor Wang Jingyun, and his former companions. He came to recognize the fear and harm associated with his past actions, then resolved to change rather than deny his earlier selves. 584 753 776

Appearance

Lu Xin is a young man who was 23 when first recruited by the Special Action Team. He generally dresses inconspicuously, often wearing the Special Purity Department’s black combat uniform beneath ordinary clothing while on assignment. 10 178

  • Usually carries a black bag during operations. 606
  • Uses a silver motorcycle for travel and field missions. 529
  • Has multiple manifestations or “appearances,” later revealed to be extensions of the same essence. 765
  • When confronting enemies through his memories, an old building may appear with many versions of Lu Xin visible through its windows. 753

Personality

Lu Xin is earnest, practical, and strongly motivated by responsibility. He believes that people should help one another rather than continue fighting after civilization’s collapse, and he treats pollution cleanup as work that must be done properly. 10 392 438

He is deeply protective of Crimson Moon Orphanage and its children. The Headless Knight’s proximity to the orphanage was enough for Lu Xin to decide that the threat had to be killed. 63

Although calm in dangerous situations, Lu Xin often approaches ordinary social matters awkwardly. He carefully studies colleagues’ behavior, worries about fitting in, and gradually learns to maintain relationships by bringing gifts back from trips. 616 619 He is also notably attentive to money, compensation, and benefits, but frames this as normal diligence rather than greed. 173 174 892

Over time, Lu Xin becomes more self-directed. Han Bing observes that he remains cooperative but has developed clearer opinions and a stronger personal will. 567 He later acknowledges his unusual mental state and difficulty connecting with others, while trying to become someone who causes less fear. 718 776

Abilities & Skills

Spider-Type Mobility

Lu Xin was initially classified as a Spider-type mental anomaly. His physical movement allows him to cross buildings, climb walls, and pursue targets at extraordinary speed. 10 45 62

  • Scales buildings and rooftops with unnatural speed. 62 92
  • Stood atop Qinggang’s high wall without climbing equipment. 63
  • Uses his sister’s assistance to pursue or restrain targets during combat. 62 325

  • Detects abnormal behavior and living threads associated with ability users. 63
  • Identifies whether a target has an attached mental monster. 438
  • Can perceive emotional states as colors by using his mother’s ability. 211

  • Anticipates actions before opponents carry them out. 325
  • Uses calm provocation and observation to force enemies into revealing information. 325

  • Generates overwhelming fear in hostile ability users and groups. 725
  • Can manifest terrifying emotional pressure that other ability users compare to an imminent explosion. 363
  • Transferred the immense pressure he had long endured onto the Sword Bearer, crushing its body and mental power. 765

Black Particles

Black particles within Lu Xin are central to his exceptional power. They are linked to The Beginning and place his fundamental level slightly above that of ordinary Ultimates, though he considers Ultimates more dangerous to the world because of their capacity to pollute and control others. 765 856

  • Can be used to attack or destroy exceptionally powerful mental entities. 765
  • Overwhelms abilities directed at him through sheer mental strength. 606
  • Does not inherently possess the pollution characteristic associated with Ultimates. 856

Reality Alteration and Restoration

By the time of Qinggang’s later examinations, Lu Xin could perform effects approaching True Creation. He links these feats to imagination, black particles, and influence over mental pollution. 855 856

  • Restored a broken hairpin. 855
  • Moved instantaneously from one side of the Kid to the other. 855
  • Altered Mizang’s appearance to be more human-like and enabled it to eat normally. 855 856
