Background

Hongjun was originally the Immortal Dao Demon God. His origin was diminished after the Chaos era, and when he reached the Grand Unity realm, his Three Flowers bloomed with only eight petals. He ultimately seized the “one escaping” possibility within the incomplete Heavenly Dao to attain Sainthood. 38

He severed good, evil, and self corpses but never unified them. As the separated corpses existed for millions of years, they developed independent consciousness; this unresolved flaw was linked to the threat posed by Evil Corpse Hongjun and the instability surrounding unification with the Dao. 39

After becoming a Saint, Hongjun founded Purple Heaven Palace beyond the Thirty-Three Heavens and announced three sermons for the Primordial World's fated cultivators. 5 17

Appearance

Hongjun appears as a Daoist who manifests silently upon a cloud before the gathered cultivators of Purple Heaven Palace. His presence is vast enough to make three thousand guests fear death for even resisting him. 15

Personality

Hongjun often presents himself as a weary, leisure-seeking “salted fish.” Believing his deficient origin prevented further advancement, he preferred fishing, drinking, and retaining his position as the Primordial World's strongest figure rather than pursuing greater realms. Primordial Violet Qi and the possibility of world advancement renewed his interest in cultivation. 38 41

Beneath this indifference is a calculating survivor of the Dao-Demon conflict. He deliberately kept Chen Tian behind after a lecture to learn the future, yet his composure deteriorated after hearing the consequences of his original destiny. 38

His tolerance has limits. Hongjun fiercely opposed the emergence of the Earthly Dao and Human Dao when he believed they would threaten his authority, though he later had to confront the practical need to stabilize and strengthen the Primordial World. 131 132 He is also deeply protective of the world itself, treating invading worlds as threats that must be destroyed before they can destroy the Primordial World. 246 248
