Those infected with the T-virus
For some reason, Jean Grey blurted out, "They're looking for a Mr. Henry Brown. Have you seen him?" Green Arrow Duck immediately retorted, "No, who is he? Should I know him? I'm sure I've never met him face-to-face." Jean Grey gave her a disdainful look, as if to say, "I'm just watching you pretend," and then asked who could possibly see them "face-to-face"? Moreover, Jean was quite certain she'd seen a jerk, based on the woman behind the Duck Plushie.
Alice, who didn't know anyone, naturally followed Green Arrow Duck. Of course, she wasn't like a lost little girl who insisted on pulling someone along. However, with a woman's sensitivity, she wouldn't mistake the distance between the two for that of strangers who had just met by chance.
Alice wasn't really thinking that much about it, and she didn't even realize how close she was to the Duck Plushie, because her attention was entirely focused in a certain direction. It was strange there; there was a huge, vaguely defined outline. There was also an opening and space that appeared out of nowhere, which was quite peculiar.
If someone had introduced it to her, Alice would have recognized it as the famous X-Men Blackbird Jet. It was currently in Optical Camouflage camouflage mode, but the rear hatch was open. The strange sight was due to the view inside the cabin from a specific angle.
Betty Thaddeus Ross was quite surprised by the Duck Plushie's answer. She had thought it would give a vague answer to leave room for explanation if it were exposed later. But instead, it was a firm denial.
But this American woman doesn't blindly believe everything others say. Rather than saying Betty Thaddeus Ross stubbornly clings to her skepticism, it's more accurate to say she trusts her intuition more.
The only naive girl present was Gwen Stacy, who lacked social experience. Hearing Mr. Duck, who had saved her life at Empire State University, say this, she quickly explained.
"I'm sorry, a friend of mine contacted me saying that a mutual friend of ours is coming to Raccoon City. But we haven't been able to see him, so we're a little worried. I apologize if this has offended you."
Upon hearing Gwen's explanation, Green Arrow Duck immediately knew who the person who notified her might be. Besides Skye, whom he had instructed to stay in New York to find a way to hack into Raccoon City's traffic surveillance system, there couldn't be anyone else who could be it.
However, Raccoon City's situation is unique. The city is now controlled by another military force that supports Umbrella Corporation. Its cybersecurity team has taken control of the local telecommunications operators, blocking all internet communications, telephones, and mobile phones.
I thought Skye wouldn't be able to breach this level of security, but I was surprised she managed to contact Gwen. It seems this little girl's Hacker skills have improved again.
It's no wonder she didn't contact him, because "Henry Brown" wasn't even in Raccoon City. The Animal Squad's appearance wasn't shown to Skye; the only thing revealed was the retired Tinkerer. These troublesome interpersonal relationships were of no concern to Green Arrow Duck at the moment; he was more concerned about the X-Men supposedly infected by the virus. "Regarding the infected..."
Jean Grey, one of the leaders, explained, "Come with me. The one infected is Rogue. She developed symptoms of the virus while on a rescue mission with Storm, so she was sent back early."
Jean Grey led the way, guiding everyone into the strange place Alice had been staring at earlier—the cockpit of the Blackbird Jet. Rogue's hospital bed was located near the cockpit entrance; it was the only place with space for a bed. Further inside were the aircraft seats and a movable tactical table. There, Professor X was in charge of command, and Bonnie Mech served as the main communications unit.
"She looks like someone infected with the virus, but she isn't," Alice, who had followed them, suddenly blurted out.
Although Jean Grey didn't know the other person's identity, it didn't stop her from caring about her own people, especially this girl who was somewhat reluctant to become New Generation X-Men. "Rogue wasn't bitten by Zombies. But who are you? And why do you say that?"
Green Arrow Duck steps forward to introduce her. "This is Alice Abernathy. What If...? you take the time to look at the Umbrella Corporation documents I brought back, you'll find a file called ' Alice Project.'"
"The content concerns an experiment involving the high-concentration modification and enhancement of a perfect viral fitter. The subject of this observation is the person standing right in front of you."
After she finished speaking, everyone present was astonished. Even Alice herself was quite shocked.
Green Arrow Duck looked at his temporary ally and added, "By the way, I also saw a ' Nemesis Project.' The subject is named Matt Addison."
"He was an infected person with the virus, but not a perfect fit. So in addition to injecting a high concentration of the viral stock solution, the Umbrella Corporation also injected a parasite called e-α."
"In order to control him and monitor his every move, Matt Addison had multiple control chips implanted in his body. His eyes were also modified into camera-like devices that could transmit what he saw back to the camera."
"You have the same thing, mainly because you have a brainstem chip. Also, your eyes aren't your natural eyes, but bio-engineered prosthetics. That means what you see and hear, the Umbrella Corporation also knows." Green Arrow Duck's explanation shocked everyone once again. Alice, before anyone else, asked about things related to herself, "How do you know all this?"
"I downloaded information about Umbrella, didn't I? On my drive back, I was also searching for that information. It's not that I didn't know, it's just that I only found out about it recently myself."
Although Alice forgave Green Arrow Duck for failing to report the matter, she still looked anxious.
Pointing to the computer area, Green Arrow Duck said, "I've already uploaded all the data to the computers. Go there, pick a computer that's not in use, search for the folder named ' Umbrella,' and you should be able to see all the data."
Alice was about to run away when Jean Grey called her back. "Wait a minute, you haven't said that Rogue isn't infected with the virus. What do you mean by that?"
Green Arrow Duck stopped Jean Grey. "Let me explain. She was just expressing her feelings as a Deep Infected. I should know why."
Alice stopped and nodded to the Duck Plushie before hurrying to the computer to look at her information.
Jean Grey and other Mutants, including Professor X who emerged from the tactical table in a wheelchair, were all quite concerned about Rogue's condition. Everyone was waiting for Green Arrow Duck's explanation.
"As far as I know, this is a Mutants can gain the abilities of others through skin contact. Is that right?"
"Yes." Professor X directly responded to Green Arrow Duck's statement, while ignoring the question of where the other party got the information. Because he knew that the man in front of him Brotherhood of Mutants, and it was best not to mention this past.
"Perhaps what she can gain through contact isn't just the abilities of other Mutants," Green Arrow Duck deduced.
Professor X, as if to confirm this argument, brought up another past event. "Rogue's abilities first awakened at the moment of her first kiss with a boy. She hurt that boy, which became a very painful memory for Rogue. Do you suspect this because you think she came into contact with Zombies, which is why she became like this?"
