A way to say hello
Back at his rented room, Henry changed out of his Tinkerer's clothes and began to tally up his gains and losses this time.
The actual loss wasn't significant; most of the needles used to administer acupuncture to Andrew Saxony were still inserted in the Old Bai, fat man's body, and the rest had to be recycled. The simple boiling sterilization procedure might not even meet hygiene standards.
Then came the counting of the surgery fees earned this time. Although a bag of money was thrown away, it wasn't just thrown away randomly back then; only a light bag was thrown out.
Because the money was raised hastily, the two bags of money they brought were not only inconsistent in denomination, but also uneven in weight. They didn't even manage to divide the money into two bags, one containing 500,000 and the other containing a total of 1 million.
This is something we didn't count on the spot beforehand; otherwise, whether it would amount to a million or more would be a question.
The final count revealed that the largest denomination was twenty, but there weren't many of them; the most numerous were ten, followed by one and five in smaller denominations. The total was 618,646.
This money can't be deposited in a bank. Fortunately, there are purchasing channels with Continental Hotel, so we don't have to rely solely on daily expenses.
It takes a dozen or so transactions to use up the credit limit of over 600,000.
Henry also made a phone call to the landlord of the Black Clinic, Big O was probably out enjoying his nightlife somewhere.
When the call was answered, deafening disco music blared from the other end, accompanied by a Old Black's trilled "T" as he said, "Who disturbed Big O's happy time? You'd better have a good reason, or I'll have someone fuck your ass."
"Big O, this is the Tinkerer."
"Aha, our doctor called me. Tell me, what do you need Big O's services for? Girl? High-potion?"
Or is it just a peculiar interest of you white Priest, some little boys?
Henry didn't play the Riddler and went straight to the point. "Big O, I've gotten myself into some trouble. There might be some Facebook coming up soon!"
Or someone from the LAPD might come to the clinic.
"So you want to lay low for a while?" The black gang leader, a constant source of trouble and connected to powerful figures in United States public authority, immediately understood the purpose of the Tinkerer's phone call. "Want me to help you find a safe house?"
"No need, I'm safe. I just wanted to find some people to watch over the clinic for me and greet people who come by. I'll be temporarily closed for a while, but I'll still pay the rent. Or do you have another location where I can open the clinic?"
"Ah, you want to play with the cops? I'm very good at that, leave it to me. What If...? you want to avoid the cops, you can open a shop anywhere else, they'll still come knocking. If you ask me, go to Hawaii or Cuba, take a two or three-month vacation. Good doctor."
"It seems I should take your advice and hide for a while."
"Haha, a wise choice. Big O's opinion is always the best. Listen to me, you can't go wrong."
"Then I'll leave the task of saying hello for me to you, Big O."
"How enthusiastic do you want it, good doctor? There's a kind of enthusiasm called AK I love you, and another called RPG Mommy Hug. The highest level of hospitality is the drunken pick-up of a drug-fueled girl package; whatever cop you run into, they're guaranteed to have diarrhea. Which one do you want me to use? The price is different."
Damn, this is all aimed at killing people. No wonder he's Old Black.
However, Henry didn't intend to go too far. He quickly said, "No need for such a fancy package. Just find a few troublemakers with no criminal record, let them play video games, eat pizza, and drink cola inside, and let them leave empty-handed. I'll give you an extra month's rent."
"As a fee for those children's playtime."
"Ah, this is a small matter, Big O will definitely handle it perfectly for you. Those kids get to eat and play, they're really lucky."
"If someone isn't afraid of having a dirty secret and the FBI finding something out, and they want to go out and have fun, I have no objection."
"Ha, Big O's brothers are all very useful, and they like to have a good time. It would be a waste to send them to jail." "Yeah, I agree. It's not a big deal, just teasing the cops is enough, no need to kill anyone. If it really gets out of hand, I'll really have to go into hiding."
Despite drawing a red line, don't expect these Old Black to be under control. Henry was just trying to convey that if things crossed a certain line, he might become unreachable.
The reason for speaking up beforehand is to avoid things getting out of control later and being used as a shield by these Old Black. Don't trust black guys' integrity too much; do you know why AIDS is so contagious?
"Don't worry. Leave it to Big O, he'll definitely get it done for you."
"Alright, I'll leave the money in the usual place. Two months' rent, and the extra month's fee is yours. Don't contact me for the next two months."
"Haha, you're on the right track, good doctor. Leave everything to me." Despite the noisy background, Big O's chest-thumping assurance could still be heard.
The two sides then disconnected the phone.
It seemed the pile of money on the table had another source of income; it could also be used to pay Big O's rent. Henry counted out the exact amount and put it into a brown paper bag. He immediately ran to the Black Clinic and placed it in the usual spot for paying rent.
As long as you tell that Old Black beforehand, you don't need to worry about him forgetting to take the money; he'll definitely come as quickly as possible.
It seems that the Old Black himself was well aware of just how chaotic this neighborhood was. There were so many petty thieves that he couldn't possibly manage them all.
Henry made sure to take the call bell as well, and he also took every single clue note. The secret inside the call bell was probably beyond the comprehension of most people, and he was afraid of attracting the attention of the FBI.
For the next two months, the Black Clinic will be closed, and Henry will also take the opportunity to organize his medical experience and insights from the past six months.
Just as he was pondering how to begin, his Tabby Cat, Kitty, came and rubbed against Henry trouser leg. Without even taking out the still-developing Tiger Translator to test it, Henry knew it was a sign of hunger.
He scooped up the rather heavy little Tiger. Its length was about the same as Henry's forearm plus his hand, but its weight was disproportionately low.
Henry couldn't help but wonder if his generous provision of food had caused the little Tiger to start growing sideways.
Even its fur is glossy and shiny from being raised. If it hadn't grown into a fearsome beast that could roar and terrify thousands, but instead turned into Tiger Boar, wouldn't my Kryptonian reputation have been ruined by this pig?
"Little guy, it seems you're not getting enough exercise. Oh well, spending all your time at home bullying the baby certainly doesn't count as exercise."
BB's motor skills aren't great either, so he can't be a good guide at all. So come with me."
Henry decided to take Kitty to his third burrow, Sheep Cave Valley Laboratory.
