Sheephole Valley

Sheephole Valley is actually a direct translation of a place name. Its original name was Sheephole Valley Wilderness, which translates directly as Sheephole Valley Wilderness.

Located east of Los Angeles, adjacent to the northern boundary of Joshua Tree National Park, its terrain combines basins and mountains, and it is part of the Mojave Desert.

This area was once a hunting ground for Native Americans. The ubiquitous conglomerate boulders form shaded areas, and snow sheep once lived here, hence the name "Sheep Cave".

However, today, the distribution range of the snow sheep has shrunk to a more northern region. This area has become a desert with sparse vegetation, and although it is a natural scenic park, it is rarely visited by people.

Henry set up a container house laboratory for himself in such a place.

Although we considered establishing a laboratory in the national forests north of Los Angeles, using the forest as a cover for our work, we decided against it given the frequent wildfires in North America.

Don't assume that the barren desert terrain makes it impossible to hide even a conspicuous man-made structure, even if it's only the size of a standard 40-cubic-meter shipping container, from satellite surveillance.

The reason we chose Sheephole Valley Wilderness is because it has natural caves formed from conglomerate. These caves are characterized by their shallowness.

Some simply provide shade.

However, using such terrain to create a hole large enough to fit a shipping container and shield it from satellite detection is not a big deal for the Kryptonian ' civil engineering capabilities.

Henry wasn't even bothered by the inconvenience of transportation; he simply flew in and out. It was impossible for outsiders to find him using tire tracks.

The only possible reason for the location to be revealed is that players who love wilderness exploration and don't follow the usual routes might one day stumble upon this place by sheer luck.

Such a low probability event, if it really happens, one can only pray that the other party is not carrying any heavy equipment or lock-picking tools, and still chooses to force their way in despite seeing the lock.

To meet his basic needs for survival, Henry dug a well and a septic tank here.

They rebuilt wind and Sun Pharma power generator sets, large storage batteries, and a backup diesel generator. This provided the most basic water and electricity.

The reason for establishing this laboratory was to manufacture all sorts of drugs needed by the Black Clinic. From antibiotics to all sorts of strange anticancer drugs, Henry could synthesize and produce them here using chemical methods.

Originally, we were going to do this in the old Gary apartment building, but some of the odors were difficult to deal with. Instead of continuing to upgrade the air purification system and doing this in the city center, we decided to find another place to put it.

With this in mind, Henry found a piece of wasteland and desolation in the Sheephole Valley Wilderness and built a simple shelter to serve as a laboratory.

Consequently, most of the equipment manufacturing work that was originally done at the rented house was moved here by Henry. Anyway, if he flew at full speed, traveling between the two places would only take a blink of an eye.

As for the drugs used in Black Clinic, they want to produce them themselves, obviously because they don't want to recklessly jump into the huge pit of the pharmaceutical industry. Just think about how much of that is a waste of money, and how many drugs are regulated; if you want to buy them, you can only find connections and spend more money.

Anyway, Henry didn't want to start his own pharmaceutical company and compete with those big companies. He just wanted to develop some drugs to complement his medical practice, so he simply did it himself.

Relying on the knowledge gained from the library, they would visit university libraries to read journals, documents, and papers. If that wasn't enough, they would "visit" the laboratories and archives of major pharmaceutical companies. In short, as long as it wasn't an overly difficult synthetic ingredient, such as Borneo Blood Orchid, with the Kryptonian's craftsmanship and Super Brain, there was nothing they couldn't accomplish.

He remembered his promise to Big O and didn't want to end up like Breaking Bad, so Henry only synthesized drugs with mature formulas and specific therapeutic effects.

Henry wouldn't touch any of the common painkillers. His Black Clinic wasn't a proper hospital; if he was in pain, he'd grit his teeth and bear it; if he couldn't, he'd just give up.

If necessary, acupuncture will be used during treatment; even after treatment, the pain will still be there. Pain is proof that the person is still alive! This is Henry's belief.

Anyway, those who come looking for him are all bad people. If his special painkillers become an easy way for them to obtain them, wouldn't that just attract another group of addicts? Rather than satisfying these scoundrels, he might as well let them experience what it's like to be alive.

At this stage, Henry is only producing generic versions of drugs already on the market; he has not developed his own. This is mainly because drug research has a long cycle and requires a series of experiments to prove its effectiveness.

Addictive substances and human experimentation are things that should be avoided if possible. This is the red line that Henry has drawn for himself.

Getting some medicine from the lab was also part of Henry's plan during his two-month break from practice. Previously, aside from commonly used medications like antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs, everything else was only synthesized and manufactured on an ad-hoc basis when needed.

With over half a year of experience in the business, Henry knew which drugs could be produced in smaller quantities and when they would come in handy. He could also stock up on more conventional drugs, since chemically synthesized drugs could be stored for quite a long time as long as they didn't get damp.

As for whether or not to get involved with traditional Chinese medicine, Henry only gave a curt "hmm".

First, he was in the United States. Second, it's not that traditional Chinese medicine is bad, but rather that truly effective traditional Chinese medicine is quite rare.

Can American Knotweed and Wild Knotweed be compared? Can Rhinoceros Horn be replaced by cow horn? Are Safflower and Saffron the same thing? Can cultivated and artificially ripened plants be compared to naturally grown ones?

Henry sometimes wondered if this kind of publicity, which made most people think that there were alternatives to traditional Chinese medicine, was because those precious medicinal materials were really too rare, so those who knew about them were just throwing out this smokescreen to preserve their own share.

This is no longer a problem that can be solved simply by price controls; there are many things that are simply available but have no market.

Furthermore, will the medicinal properties and quality of the same herb be the same regardless of its source or origin? Do you really think that medicinal materials are treated equally simply because they can be grown?

Fruits from the same tree can vary in quality, some are astringent, some are sweet, some are ripe, and some are unripe. Does this mean medicinal herbs are not differentiated by quality?

Anyway, Henry tried the traditional Chinese medicine books he could find, along with the Chinese herbal medicines he could find in the United States, but gave up after a few attempts. It's not that the books were wrong, but the medicines he could find were really not good enough.

As for Native American herbs, Henry only knew about Coca Leaf. His knowledge of the rest was largely destroyed by the Europe during the Age of Exploration.

Even the Native Americans themselves didn't pass it down much, let alone record it in writing so that Henry could learn from books.

So, on this North America continent, Henry gave up researching traditional Chinese medicine and instead focused on the field of chemistry, which could be seen as a way to solidify his research capabilities in chemical engineering and biotechnology.
