Krypton's Secret in This Universe
Taking advantage of the moment when no one was paying attention, Henry used his Super Speed to bring Kitty back to the front hall, where he appeared alongside the Skrull version of Henry who had unleashed a tiger to bite people in the restaurant.
Perhaps because he had the experience of seeing the real thing in person, the Skrull version of Henry didn't shout that the other person was a fake, a move that would have seemed suspicious at first glance.
Instead, he looked completely bewildered and asked in surprise, "What's going on now?"
The Skrull version of Kitty, who had been knocked down by the Photon Blast, got up again. She adopted the posture of Tiger, baring her teeth and letting out a low growl, her forelimbs lowered, as if she was ready to pounce at any moment.
In contrast, the real Kitty next to Henry sat down like a silly cat, tilting her head to look at her kind who looked the same as her but was different inside.
"Ms. Vers, do you have a way of distinguishing them?" True Henry didn't show much of his knowledge about the Skrulls, but instead threw the question to the Kree Starforce warrior who should be the most familiar with them present.
"The Skrulls ' disguise is flawless, from their appearance to their DNA. But they only retain short-term memories; they may not be aware of things from far back. Can you tell me about your past?" Vers asked earnestly.
Skrull's version of Henry disagreed. "Even if I said it, no one can verify who's right."
To be clear from the outset, the Skrull version of Henry has no way of obtaining much information about the person he's imitating, aside from their appearance. Even short-term memories require physical contact to be accessed, let alone Kryptonian DNA locks.
Therefore, he cannot fall into this self-proving trap.
True Henry couldn't say much. What If...? we take the Skrulls' six-year short-term memory access limit as a benchmark, he was still at the Red Empire Research Institute in Siberia six years ago.
What's the point of telling me? It's something I don't even want to think about, fine.
However, there was a way to break the deadlock. Henry asked, "Ms. Vers, do you mean that the Skrulls ' talent for mimicry includes the special abilities possessed by their original form?"
"No, the Skrulls retain their original physical abilities after transforming. However, they cannot use abilities they didn't originally possess."
"So Nick Fury, you should understand what I mean by asking this question."
No sooner had the real Henry finished speaking than a gunshot rang out. Nick Fury had shot the Skrull version of Henry through the arm, and the imposter was still yelling, "Why did you shoot me? That guy was the fake!"
The Skrulls ' disguise remains hidden, whether they are asleep or injured. The only time they are forcibly exposed is at the moment of their death, when they revert to their most primitive form.
So this single shot, as long as it's not fatal, won't be enough to reveal the true form of the Skrull version of Henry.
This shot confirmed Barbara's suspicions. She also raised her gun, aiming at the Skrull- like Henry in the restaurant, and shouted, "Alien! Return to normal!"
But then another gunshot rang out, and Henry shouted, "Hey, what are you doing?"
Nick Fury, who fired the shot, showed no embarrassment, saying, "You know, just to be safe, I double-checked."
Rubbing his arm as if in pain, Henry ran his fingers through the hole in his shirt and said seriously, "I'll let it go this time. But if there's a next time, I'll be in trouble."
The Skrull version of Henry stared in astonishment at the real thing's behavior, suddenly feeling incredibly wronged for exposing it. Was this how Kryptonian behaved under the yellow star?
Seeing himself and his companions, who had turned into Tiger, surrounded, the guy seemed somewhat bewildered.
As the leader of the Skrulls, General Ross entered through the back door of the kitchen at the opportune moment. Moreover, he maintained his original appearance, without any disguise.
He said in a calm and confident voice, "You don't actually think that the only aliens in this house you need to be wary of are us, do you? You should be more concerned about your companion whom you call Henry; he's a notorious Kryptonian."
General Ross's statement has aroused interest, confusion, and dissatisfaction among many people.
Barbara was furious, and she shouted, "What nonsense are you spouting!"
Henry was puzzled. He feigned ignorance and asked, "What are you talking about? Kryptonian?"
Nick Fury was very curious about this new information. "What are Kryptonian? Vers, have you heard of that term?"
"All I know is that the Kryptonian were once the most insane power in the universe. But that only exists in history books, because Krypton has been defeated."
Oh, there's this part of history too?
General Ross added excitedly, "Krypton is not just a crazy tyrant. Their people are influenced by the star's light, sometimes going mad, sometimes becoming deranged."
"Because their political system is a strictly controlled pyramid structure, all Krypton babies are not born naturally, and their future roles are determined from the moment they are born."
"Under this system, people on other planets are either enslaved or Destroy. There is no option for peace. And do you know what happens to planets whose resources are plundered?"
"When the Earth's core collapses, even planets cease to exist. That's the only outcome; there are no exceptions. You could say that Kryptonian are the most terrifying plague in the universe."
"Fortunately, we discovered their weakness: the Green Sun weakens Kryptonian to the point of near death. The annihilation campaign in the Barrington Galaxy brought this wildly expanding Krypton fleet to a halt."
"After that, the Kryptonian were confined to their home planet. Their planet was surrounded by a cosmic trap they themselves had set up, called the Phantom Zone, which prevented those inside from getting out and those outside from getting in."
"And all of this happened... well, according to your planet's calendar, around nine thousand years ago. So the question is, why are the Kryptonian, who should be eternally imprisoned on their home planet, here?"
With the focus now back on him, Henry naturally didn't answer the question, which he didn't know the answer to. He simply shrugged, making a confused expression himself. As if changing the subject, he pointed to the injured girl.
Henry said, "Do you need me to treat her wound? A bite like that, while not enough to cause death from blood loss, could lead to bacterial infection if left untreated and exposed to the air."
"There's also the risk of Lockjaw infection, and as for rabies... well, is there anything to worry about? I'm sure Kitty doesn't have it, but I'm not sure if that guy might be carrying some alien germs."
Perhaps it was Henry's revealed alien identity that frightened the mother. Maria Rambo simply held her child tightly, watching him warily.
