The FBI Strikes While the Iron Is Hot
Having been told to drive, Henry obediently drove Kitty away.
The Howling Commandos flew northeast, perhaps because they had a secret base in that direction. Henry, on the other hand, turned back and headed south. He drove to the outskirts of the nearest city, Monroe, and then abandoned the car and left.
Although the alien corpses in the car were taken away, the alien bloodstains and bullet holes on the windshield were not cleaned up. Driving such a car into the city is quite conspicuous.
The conscientious police officers quickly spotted the unfamiliar car with suspicious signs.
Don't say that American police don't like to meddle in other people's business; that's only true of police in big cities. Police in small towns are involved in everything, from the sky to the land to the seaside, practically like city management officers with law enforcement powers and guns.
And Henry certainly didn't really want to drive back to the West Coast. Even if he drove non-stop, it would take several days to get back to Los Angeles.
Although he doesn't have to clock in at Stark Studios, this isn't the kind of journey he wants.
Since he wasn't interested in a road trip, Henry abandoned the car in the Monroe and flew back to the West Coast with Kitty in one go!
Kitty, who frequently travels between the city and Sheep Cave Valley Laboratory on Kryptonian flights, is no longer Tiger that would pee its pants at the mere sight of a roller coaster. Although this journey is a bit longer than the previous one, it will only be a blink of an eye.
Henry didn't take Kitty back to their rented apartment in Los Angeles right away. Instead, he went to the wilderness of Sheep Cave Valley Laboratory first, then caught a wild deer, broke its neck, and made it Kitty's dinner. Henry then returned to downtown Los Angeles alone.
Fortunately, he didn't bring Kitty back directly. Just as he feared, his house was hacked by a group of FBI Agent gathering evidence, and there were even technicians checking his computer.
Although it's unclear when they started their operation, it was already late at night, and a Legion of people were still working overtime.
The Stark i486 that could be moved had already been taken. Other portable materials, such as CDs and videotapes, were no longer in the house but had been packed up and loaded onto the FBI vehicle.
The audio equipment and speakers weren't spared either. Not only were the machines taken away, but even the wiring they had installed was pulled into a mess.
After such rough handling, the cables are probably damaged, and even if they're put back together, they won't have the original sound quality. You know how picky Kryptonian ' ears are...
As for the computer he built himself, it differed from commercially available computers in both its operating system and hardware, so technicians dared not disassemble or move it without authorization.
They were turning on the machine and checking the contents. They didn't know if their tinkering would produce anything worthwhile.
Although my operating system is based on Linux, it is not the common Red Hat or SUSE, and the way commands are used is different.
While an expert could learn it with some time, it's not something everyone can do. This is because Henry's system lacked documentation or help commands.
Even to differentiate them, the command names differ from common practice and form their own system.
The cleaning robot BB was taken along with its charging dock. Even Kitty's metal food bowl was taken by the FBI agents.
If Kitty comes back and sees this, she'll pounce on the person who stole her food.
Judging from the way they were raiding the place, it seemed the FBI had been waiting for a long time. Henry didn't doubt these people's identities, because their badges were all hanging on their chests, and they were wearing FBI-issue jackets; it was unlikely that S.H.I.E.L.D.. was impersonating them.
The cameras and projectors that assisted Charlize Theron had long been dismantled and moved away. This made Henry suspect that other film companies might be behind it all.
Although only Sony took targeted action against the digital imaging technology he led Stark Studios to develop, Henry believed that other film companies would not remain indifferent when the opportunity arose.
Although the "FBI" that issued the kill order against Henry was actually S.H.I.E.L.D.., the real FBI was just going along with it, so that if things went wrong later, someone would be there to take the blame.
Now that the opportunity has been presented to them, how could they not seize Reason!
So thank you to those green-skinned bastards, those damned Skrulls.
Charlize Theron, who lived in the same building, naturally noticed that her house had been emptied by the FBI.
Perhaps because they had just finished a busy day, JJ Harris's agent was also present. Charlize, however, ignored her agent's advice and joined Gary in protesting the FBI's actions.
Their actions, of course, had no effect.
Although the FBI operation lacked a Court search warrant, the prior sham FBI operation by S.H.I.E.L.D.., coupled with Henry's escape from the scene, meant the house became the crime scene, allowing for direct investigation.
This made Charlize very anxious, and she desperately begged JJ Harris to find a solution. However, when facing a law enforcement agency like the FBI, this seasoned agent didn't have many methods or connections that could be used.
It can only be said that the love and care given to this girl was not in vain. However, before she reached her future heights, she was no match for the FBI, and even arguing with them was futile.
So, should I ask Tony Stark to intervene again?
Previously, the two aliens were considered a public matter. They approached that young master, and whether or not Henry made a move was irrelevant. As long as the people behind him cared and found out, someone would step in to deal with them.
But this mess is clearly a private matter. And we don't even know who's behind it or how difficult it is.
More importantly, Henry didn't consider his relationship with Tony Stark to be the kind of brotherhood where you help me and I help you.
Wealthy people only act for one reason: they can benefit from the situation. If there's no profit to be made, why would they bother with troubles that don't concern them?
It's not impossible to use personal connections to influence things, but that opportunity might only come once; after that, it's all about official business.
In any social interaction, the parties involved should at least be of equal status. If there's a significant difference in status, why should a wealthy person exchange favors with a nobody on the street?
What If...? today were the full version of Superman, everyone he meets would be seen as someone who's climbing the social ladder. But in the eyes of outsiders, he's just a somewhat clever Mutants, unless he's willing to reveal more of his assets.
Henry didn't think he had enough influence to actually order Tony Stark around. What he said to Barbara earlier was just a casual remark.
Therefore, the easiest way to solve this problem is to wait until the Captain Marvel incident is over and Nick Fury returns to S.H.I.E.L.D.., then let them clean up the mess they left behind.
Regardless of whether this incident was caused by Skrulls impersonating Skrulls. S.H.I.E.L.D. bears responsibility for its oversight during the alien invasion. Henry has no obligation to pay for S.H.I.E.L.D..'s negligence.
Whether or not S.H.I.E.L.D.. will hold the Skrulls accountable is their problem.
Let's just hope that nothing goes wrong before Nick Fury steps in to clean up the mess.
As for stopping the FBI's operation on the spot, Henry didn't even consider it. The house was already in such a mess that there was no point in trying to get them to return their belongings.
At most, this group of people will just move their things back from their vehicles; they'll still have to clean up the house themselves. You can't expect them to restore everything to its original state.
Therefore, the losses incurred here made Henry feel even more at ease about what he was about to do.
As the saying goes, retribution may be delayed, but it will come eventually. The Skrulls owed themselves a debt that must be repaid.
