A brown, older Cadillac with a warning license plate appeared on a street in Los Angeles. A patrol car immediately pulled it over with its lights on.

The reported dangerous individual, Henry Brown, CEO of Stark Studios, was sitting in the driver's seat. Even more dangerous, there was a fully grown Tiger in the back seat!

The rookie policeman in the car was so frightened that he almost drew his gun and emptied the magazine on the spot.

However, as a law enforcement officer in one of the three most peculiar cities in the United States— New York, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas —that veteran officer was not only well-informed but also incredibly daring.

He noticed the Tiger was chained to the back seat of the car. "Don't be reckless, and there won't be any problems," he quickly stopped his inexperienced companion.

Because he knew in his heart that the police report was highly problematic. It only mentioned that the other party was a dangerous individual and needed to be apprehended.

But they didn't say what the other party had done, or how dangerous it was. They didn't even offer a plausible reason; they simply notified everyone to arrest the person.

The whole thing looks like a power struggle between high-ranking people.

What If...? the charges are irrefutable, then of course they must be handled impartially; but if there is a possibility of redemption, then the same impartiality should be applied, but the other party must not be offended to the point of no return.

Fortunately, the target only requested a lawyer and was otherwise quite cooperative. It was the Tiger, however, that left even a group of veteran LAPD officers unsure how to handle it.

In the end, they called in hunters from the animal protection association, who took care of the whole thing with a tranquilizer gun. Throughout the ordeal, Kitty was as quiet as a well-fed kitten, not posing a threat to the experienced animal handlers.

Henry Brown was apprehended by the LAPD and taken to the police station. He awaited either the FBI or his lawyer, whichever arrived first.

Henry contacted the lawyer himself using a public phone at the police station. In the United States, practicing lawyers must have a local bar license and cannot practice across state lines.

However, Stark Industries ' projects are not limited to a single state. Therefore, his legal team is composed of multiple law firms to address any issues that may arise in any location.

At Stark Studios in Los Angeles, business and commercial disputes are generally handled by their own legal counsel. However, for complex issues outside of business matters, they have to rely on the more comprehensive Stark Industries legal counsel team.

Henry was a member of the legal team that called Stark Industries in Los Angeles, the principal of a prominent law firm.

Meanwhile, the director of the LAPD also informed the FBI Los Angeles Office Henry Brown's capture, instructing them to send someone to pick him up.

Owen Davis, Assistant Director of the FBI Los Angeles Office, is the de facto head of the FBI in the major city of Los Angeles.

He was quite surprised to hear from the Police Station that Henry Brown had been arrested. That was an invulnerable Mutants, yet he'd been apprehended by a bunch of lowly police officers!

But for him, not catching anyone was good news. If he had caught someone, he wouldn't know what to do with them.

In situations like this, the only recourse is to pass the buck to the organization that impersonated the FBI and issued the kill order against that man.

However, the FBI cannot directly transfer people because the other party is not an officially recognized organization and there is no legal channel for transferring prisoners.

Moreover, their arrest of Henry Brown was more of a convenient move. S.H.I.E.L.D.. had set the precedent, and they proceeded within the bounds of legality and reason. None of this came from any Court order.

Therefore, they could only rely on underhanded methods to transfer prisoners. Simply put, it involved personal connections.

If Owen wanted to curry favor with that undisclosed organization, he couldn't just approach their Los Angeles area boss, the thin Director Kohler.

The most suitable person for Owen to contact was, of course, his old comrade-in-arms, Nick Fury. He immediately redialed the number, which he had probably called countless times before.

I thought this time it would be the same as before, no matter how much the phone rang, no one would answer.

However, he dialed a mobile phone, not a landline, so the phone didn't ring indefinitely. After about ten rings, if no one answered, it would go to voicemail.

But the call was answered after only a few rings. Then I heard a familiar tone of voice, saying familiar words.

"Damn it, you white monkey. Do you know I've been busier than a Jew these past few days? You've made so many phone calls. You'd better have something important to say, or you'll be seeing this old black grandpa kicking your ass until it's red."

Owen Davis ignored the foul-mouthed guy. Back when they were in the trenches together, the dirtier the insults, the better the relationship usually was. Against enemies or adversaries, you'd just fire a burst of bullets without a second thought.

But today's call was about serious business. Owen said, almost boasting, "Hey, I caught the guy you wanted to get rid of. I think that deserves a good bottle of wine, What If...? you want to hand him over."

"Who?"

That voice made Owen Davis able to imagine the bewildered look on Nick Fury's face on the other end of the phone.

Henry Brown.

"Who!"

This reaction didn't sound like surprise or joy; it sounded more like shock. It was the same sound he'd heard when he told him they were surrounded. This made Owen Davis feel uneasy.

"I said we've caught Henry Brown. But saying we caught him isn't quite accurate; the LAPD caught him. I've already sent people to the LAPD to complete the transfer procedures."

"Damn it! What are you doing arresting that guy?"

"Hmm, isn't this the person you wanted? According to my intelligence, when your people went on the mission under the FBI's name, the order was to kill them on the spot. It's just that we weren't equipped enough to deal with an invulnerable Mutants, so..."

"Enough, Owen, I know what happened." Nick Fury slapped his forehead, remembering that this was a mess the Skrulls had left him, Barbara had told him about.

Barbara Morse's matter was easily resolved. He returned to the department, submitted a report detailing the entire incident. Coupled with his contribution in assisting with the recovery of the Tesseract, the matter was dropped, even though Barbara wasn't with him until the end.

But he had truly forgotten about Henry Brown's affair. Nor had he anticipated that things would escalate to this extent without his knowledge.

"Okay, Nick Fury, you need to tell me what's going on?" Owen Davis asked, sensing things might have gone wrong.
