It Could Only Be Called an Administrative Oversight
Nick Fury, of course, couldn't tell the whole story. Accustomed to giving bureaucratic answers, he replied directly:
"This stemmed from an internal administrative oversight, where the crimes of a vicious Mutants were mistakenly attributed to another Mutants, leading us to use weapons in the pursuit and wrongly issue a kill order. In short, it was a mistake."
"Walter Nick Fury, are you serious?"
"Owen, I'll be frank with you. I can't go into details, but it's definitely our side that messed things up."
"Fuck! What do we do now?"
Recalling Barbara's account, Nick Fury was still wondering whether S.H.I.E.L.D.. should provide some money to compensate for the damage caused by the assault team's intrusion into Henry Brown's home.
He never imagined that after S.H.I.E.L.D.. raided his home, the FBI would follow suit and ransack it...
So Nick Fury simply said, "Find a reason to let him go. He's a respectable man at Stark Studios now, after all. You don't think he's like one of those homeless people on the street, disappearing into some corner and nobody cares, do you?"
"Damn it! You should have told me this sooner. I couldn't get through to you on the phone these past few days."
"It's that issue of 'administrative negligence,' you understand?"
"This is outrageous! Can't you guys step in and clean this up?"
"We're currently doing a major cleaning and renovation because of that 'administrative oversight.' What do you think?"
The Skrulls were taken away by Carol Danvers, along with the Kree Cruiser in space.
But did they all leave? Are there any aliens left inside S.H.I.E.L.D..? Nobody dared to believe the Skrulls ' one-sided account.
According to Barbara Morse, both the Los Angeles and Louisiana branches of S.H.I.E.L.D.. are experiencing problems. There's an internal investigation going on, and things are in complete disarray.
"Okay, I got it," Owen Davis said dejectedly. "I'll see how it goes."
"Owen."
"How?"
"Um, it's nothing. I'll treat you to a drink another day."
"One drink might not be enough; I need to get drunk."
Bourbon, my favorite.
"Remember to bring a few more bottles. See you later." Owen Davis wanted to get drunk and die right now, he didn't want to face reality.
"Okay, goodbye."
The two hung up the phone.
As Nick Fury drove, he heard the person in the passenger seat say, "It's related to that Kryptonian you guys were talking about?"
"Did you hear my phone ring, Nick Fury?" Hennick Nick Fury asked, annoyed.
Benedict Nick Fury said, "My hearing isn't that good, but my brain is definitely good enough."
Do you have any advice for me?
"Ha, I thought this brat who's been weaned wouldn't like others meddling in his business," Nick Fury scoffed.
Nick Fury ignored the sarcasm and said seriously, "What If...? this were an old adversary from the Cold War era, those KGB punks, I know how to mess with them."
"But I have no experience dealing with an alien. What If...? you can't even help with this, I really don't know what else you can do."
Bai Nick Fury retorted, "I don't know this, I don't know that. Then why did you go to all this trouble to call me out? You don't think I'm retired and have nothing better to do than play chess with some old men. I have my own mission, I just haven't set off yet."
"I wouldn't have contacted you if it weren't for matters involving extraterrestrials. We don't have any regulations regarding extraterrestrials," Nick Fury complained.
After thinking for a moment, Nick Fury said, "Henry Brown is a special case. He's not some alien who suddenly arrived on Earth with no connections whatsoever."
"What do you mean by emphasizing this point?" Nick Fury asked, puzzled.
"Ms. Carter asked us to investigate this man's experiences on Earth, and we are doing so. But unless we can confirm that this alien is a threat, we shouldn't even touch him."
"Why?"
"Because of Stark."
"Tony Stark? That greenhorn?"
"That little lion is eager to show off his claws and teeth," said Nick Fury. "The person put in the position of CEO of Stark Studios is just bait."
"Anyone who touches that bait, for whatever reason, will face Stark's full-scale counterattack. Even if Henry Brown were to commit murder in public, I have no doubt that Tony Stark would handle it."
"It's like OJ Simpson, who was recently acquitted after facing murder charges. It has nothing to do with whether Henry Brown is an alien or not; after all, we all know he's special, we just didn't know he was this special."
Nick Fury asked skeptically, "Are you serious? Those two are that close?"
"It has nothing to do with personal relationships. Didn't I say that the little lion just needs an excuse to tear some unfortunate guy to shreds, to prove to others that he can succeed as lion king? The excuse can be anyone or anything."
Are you sure?
"This information came directly from Edwin JARVIS, the Stark Family's butler, to Ms. Carter. In my opinion, it's highly credible," Nick Fury added. "So, if you didn't know how to advise your friend before, now you should."
Nick Fury's behavior on the phone earlier suggested he wanted to say something to Owen Davis. However, he ultimately remained silent because the department hadn't yet decided on a strategy to deal with the Kryptonian, and he couldn't act unilaterally.
However, just like the advice I gave my friend, that person is now a prominent figure at Stark Studios, not some nobody. Without first peeling back this layer of connections, his affairs cannot be viewed simply.
Lost in thought, Nick Fury drove to a warehouse. He got out and opened the door himself; after going inside, he closed the door again. Finally, he parked the car in the empty warehouse, next to the only object placed in the center.
It was a freezer-like container that resembled a coffin, with a power source connected to the bottom by a cable as thick as an arm.
As Nick Fury got out of the car, he immediately recognized it. "This is what you wanted me to see?" A closer look at what was displayed in the glass viewing window of the freezer made him curse. "Fuck! Where did you get this thing?"
Nick Fury, who had just gotten out of the car, shrugged and said, "Remember? I just experienced a major battle between the Kree and the Skrulls, and a Kryptonian even made a brief appearance."
"Who knows you have this?" Nick Fury asked sharply.
Nick Fury said, "I knew how important this was from you, so I did everything myself. I didn't ask anyone else to help, including getting this freezer."
"If anyone on Earth knows that this thing might exist, it's that former Air Force test pilot, after all, it was her achievement. But she doesn't know what to do next, or who should handle it."
Lying in the freezer is Minn-Erva, a female Kree member of the Kree Starforce who was shot down after a dogfight with Maria Rambo's Quinjet.
This is the only Kree remains that Nick Fury found. It seems that the Kree they dealt with on the Kree Cruiser in space were recovered by their own people; not a single remains were found.
Actually, there was also some stuff that the Flerken Goose had swallowed. But it hasn't even spat out the Tesseract yet, so nobody knows that this little guy will spit these things out like a cat spitting out a hairball.
Remembering the information he had revealed, Bai Nick Fury felt compelled to advise, "The Infinity Formula is a curse; I was ordered to use it. Even if I had the chance to choose again, I wouldn't use it. What are you planning to do with collecting this stuff now?"
"I'm not interested in potions that have to be used continuously but have limited materials. However, I think there are more possibilities with Infinity Formula than just making some damn people live longer. Oh, and that's not directed at you, old man."
"Alright, I'll give you the information about the Infinity Formula. But you should know that if this leaks out, the pressure you'll face will be unimaginable. Those Old Money are trying to pressure us into taking over S.H.I.E.L.D..'s labs," Nick Fury gave a final warning.
"I know," Nick Fury said confidently.
