Those Waiting
"Damn it!" Andy Tom cursed. It was unclear whether he was cursing the ungrateful girl or the current situation.
Actually, you can drive on the roads inside the zoo. Driving into the predator area and getting Kitty away with minimal human witnessing isn't difficult.
Alternatively, the Tiger could be taken away after the park closes, which would minimize the chaos. All it takes is for both sides to coordinate. Henry isn't so heartless as to want to create utter chaos.
However, faced with the female zookeeper's "enthusiasm," Henry didn't care about anything else; he just wanted to leave as soon as possible. He didn't care if the zoo was in chaos or not; with Kitty by his side, clearing the area would make walking much easier.
If anyone questions it, just say it was authorized by the FBI. You've signed the documents, paid the money, everything is legal and compliant, so why can't you take your pet away?
My Tabby Cat is perfectly docile; I didn't see it bite anyone. Those people have weak bladders and wet their pants—who's to blame?
Amidst the chaos, Henry and Kitty, along with the tiger, leisurely walked out of the zoo and got into their car.
Henry quickly put the chaos at the zoo behind him. He didn't want to dwell on things that were too far off; he still had the hurdle of finding a place to rent to get through.
Back at old Gary's apartment building, the charming old man gave Henry a big hug. It wasn't about lust, just the warmth of friends meeting. Knowing old Gary's personality well, Henry accepted it without hesitation this time.
"Hey, are you alright, Henry?" Old Gary looked around frantically as soon as he asked. "You're not coming back to pack your things and leave, are you? Hurry up and get out of here, the FBI has practically emptied your place. Once the police come, you won't be able to leave."
"Don't worry, Gary. I'm fine." Henry pulled out the check signed by the FBI and waved it, saying, "The FBI has admitted their mistake in this matter, and this is a compensation check they signed."
"You don't think they'd willingly sign this check when they're not at fault, do you? There are some other statements, and I have copies of them on file. I won't take those out; this check is the most practical."
Gary, his face beaming with interest, took the check from Henry and examined it closely. "I've never seen an FBI check before. This is truly an eye-opener. But... seven hundred dollars? What's this for?"
"I heard they took a lot of things from my house, but they're all gone now. So this is compensation for those things."
"Walter! Do you know that the FBI agents practically emptied your house?"
Henry frowned. "Is it really that bad?" Actually, Henry had come back and looked into it privately and knew what the situation was. But if you're going to put on an act, you have to go all the way and maintain the rationality of your behavior; it had become a habit.
However, as the saying goes, out with the old, in with the new. Using a bunch of obsolete old goods to cheat thieves and federal petty thieves is a way of making the best use of resources. It would be unethical to expect others to pay for it.
Old Gary, still shaken, said, "To be honest, even thieves don't clean this thoroughly when moving. Charlize and I helped you tidy up. Speaking of that girl, she's been worried about you these past few days."
Henry chuckled twice, and was about to say something witty when he heard a strange shout behind him, "Henry!"
Then a female leopard pounced on Henry, leaping onto him and nearly knocking the Kryptonian over.
She wrapped her legs around the man's waist and held his head in her arms. Charlize Theron's emotions were beyond what outsiders could imagine.
Imagine this: your life has just begun to look bright, and the man you rely on is scared away by the FBI, who reportedly even issued a kill order. For this girl, it would be nothing short of an apocalyptic catastrophe.
She screamed almost hysterically, "What happened? I don't know anything, nobody knows, the FBI won't say, the police won't say anything. I don't even know where to turn for answers."
As Henry comforted the koala girl who was clinging to him like a tree stump, he couldn't help but sigh, "Youth is truly wonderful."
If the future fully evolved Serena were to become like someone who uses aloofness to arm himself, keeping strangers at bay, he wouldn't easily show such emotional outward expressions.
In fact, based on Henry's understanding of Hollywood, just look at how many child stars who were thought to have a bright future were driven to collapse by those unknown dark secrets.
Rebellion is just the tip of the iceberg; some people develop dementia and obesity, while others lose their lives. Beneath the glamorous spotlight of Hollywood lies an unimaginable darkness.
Charlize Theron, who came from South Africa, didn't have the resources of a celebrity offspring, nor did she come from Old Money family. She fought her way up entirely on her own.
Therefore, she will appear on the big screen with a cold attitude in the future, not only because she is suitable for this kind of persona, but also because of the environment.
If she didn't protect herself in this way, her situation would probably be even worse than those child stars raised by toxic parents. It wouldn't be surprising if she faded into obscurity before even reaching the top.
Henry supported the agitated girl, comforting her while pondering her future.
JJ Harris, the agent who brought the girl back, watched the scene with the same feeling as Henry.
Charlize Theron is certainly a promising talent, but for a woman, a relationship is the biggest variable in life. Especially when she's stuck with such a... "special" man.
Even with JJ Harris's extensive experience in judging people, she didn't know how to define the person in front of her.
Should I stay away from him or get closer to him?
Can he lift the girl up, helping her climb to a higher position? Or will he drag her down with him, causing them both to fall into the Abyss?
In JJ Harris's entire life, she has rarely encountered anyone who has put her in such a difficult position.
Compared to this situation, which can be described as a happy predicament, the situation on the other side is one of gloom and despair.
Henry thought it was just a small gadget for destroying Krypton brand handicraft equipment, but the amount of gunpowder it contained was a bit too much.
Sony America building in Los Angeles was completely destroyed by the bomb, with not a single window remaining intact.
Since the primary objective was to melt the materials, Henry did not use standard explosives...
This means that as an ordinary citizen, he couldn't afford explosives. The incineration device Henry designed was an explosive he concocted himself using his chemical knowledge, which is why it wasn't detected.
This is why there was an incorrect estimate of the explosion's power. The only saving grace is that the power was greater, not less. At least their target, the handcrafted equipment, was indeed destroyed.
But the people responsible for researching those devices, and Sony America building in Los Angeles, were not so lucky.
Thermite, intended for melting equipment, is the main component of Henry's self-destruct device. This charge is quite effective against metals and living organisms, but less effective against concrete.
So Henry's actual achievement was that the entire floor of researchers and equipment were reimbursed. In particular, many of the researchers were sent from Japan and had just arrived today. They were greeted with such "warmth" as soon as they arrived at the research lab.
Fortunately, the building did not collapse; otherwise, the damage would have been much greater.
Nevertheless, this is an unprecedented and enormous loss for Sony America since its inception.
