The Unlucky Guinea Pig
The next day, when Black Super reappeared in the warehouse district, he noticed that Blade had indeed brought back a Vampires. The guy was strapped to the same workbench where Jasper Baden had collapsed, and he was still moving around restlessly.
This guy was covered in tattoos and very active. Perhaps because he was spewing feces, his mouth was stuffed with a huge stinky sock, no one knew whose it was.
"Is he Vampires?" the Black Super asked to confirm.
Abraham Whistler didn't answer, he just tossed over an iron plate. It had two unusually well-developed canine teeth on it, long and sharp.
These don't look like teeth that humans would have.
The Black Super stared intently at the Vampires's mouth, confirming that the pulled-out canine tooth definitely belonged to the unfortunate fellow. It was the smelly sock in his mouth...
They were used as cotton balls to stop bleeding, absorbing a lot of foul-smelling blood.
However, the man in Black Super ' movements provoked an even stronger reaction from the Vampires. Fortunately, he was restrained by chains with chain tensioners, otherwise he would have broken free.
Seeing this unusual power and not particularly strong physique, it would be hard to believe that this person wasn't somewhat extraordinary.
Black Super stopped questioning the guy's identity and kicked the tensioner, loosening it. The two Vampires hunters felt a jolt of fear and were about to make a move, but they restrained themselves, wanting to see what Black Super would do next.
The Vampires, though freed, was not truly free. Before he could get up and kill anyone, the man dressed in black flipped him over. His strength was so great that he could not resist.
With one hand on the back of the Vampires Black Super had rolled over, and the other hand clenched into a fist with the index finger bent, he struck the back of the vampire's neck!
This immediately rendered the Vampires limp and unable to move. Only then did Black Super slowly and methodically re-secure the man lying on the workbench with the chains, tightening the tensioner to its maximum.
Abraham Whistler, who witnessed the whole thing, asked in astonishment, "What did you do? How did he become so well-behaved?"
"Fracture of the fourth cervical vertebra, high-level paralysis. It seems that the human anatomy and function of Vampires are not too different from humans. However, I'm not sure how good his self-healing ability is, or how long it will take for him to recover. So, I'll keep him chained up."
"You just hit him once, and he's paralyzed from the neck down!" Abraham Whistler exclaimed in surprise.
"With the power of Blade, as long as you hit the right spot, you can easily do something like that. It's nothing special, I'm just a little more accurate," Black Super said "humbly."
"What if he can't recover?" Abraham Whistler asked again, as if he had become interested in arguing.
"Then my opinion of Vampires ' healing abilities will drop a notch. I'd also like to try turning him into mincemeat and see if the Vampires can regenerate. I've heard that among Mutants, there are those who can regenerate completely even if only one cell remains."
Black Super forgot that the guy on the workbench was only paralyzed, not unconscious. He could still hear the conversation of several people, but his mouth was stuffed with something, so he couldn't speak.
Upon hearing about the "meat sauce" experiment that Black Super wanted to do, the guy, unable to control his limbs and lower body, actually wet his pants. This surprised Black Super.
Does this mean that the Vampires's spine has shown signs of repair in such a short period of time? At least some of its autonomic responses have been influenced by psychological factors.
"How interesting," Black Super commented. He then picked up a syringe, pierced the iliac bone, and extracted thick, red bone marrow.
He then took an empty syringe, drew a vial of blood, and went to the microscope to prepare for closer examination.
Black Super added, "Keep an eye on this guy. Let me know if he's able to move again. Don't let him get away."
For some reason, both Blade and Abraham Whistler felt a pang of shame. It was as if they had wronged this guy by capturing him.
But this sense of shame came quickly and went just as fast.
Vampires are no longer human. And among the Vampires lurking in Los Angeles, very few are clean. They all have blood on their hands.
They may have done some dirty work, it's just a matter of whether these things have been exposed.
The main reason Black Super extracts bone marrow is to observe how Vampires's blood-producing function works.
The result was not the complete loss of function that he had imagined; the Vampires's red bone marrow still had the function of producing blood. However, compared to normal people, this process was extremely slow, so slow that it was simply not enough to replenish the number of red blood cells that had lost their function.
This is why they need to drink blood to replenish their red blood cells.
The reason for checking this is that Abraham Whistler said yesterday that Vampires also have offspring. This is different from the most traditional Vampires setting, where they are already Deadman and their bodies have stopped growing.
In other words, Vampires in the Marvel Universe can barely be classified as "living beings," rather than "the dead" in the traditional sense. That's why they have the ability to "reproduce."
Furthermore, they can see themselves in mirrors, which differs from the legends. This suggests that Vampires possess souls.
After conducting some basic tests, Black Super focused on observing the differences between a normal Vampires and Blade, the Daywalker.
What If...? the hematopoietic stem cells in the Vampires's red bone marrow can still function, then the medication used to suppress Blade's Bloodlust Syndrome, in addition to restoring the function of red blood cells, could also stimulate hematopoietic stem cells to produce more red blood cells.
One possible direction is to create "Erythropoietin," a protein hormone that stimulates the body to produce red blood cells. What If...? this could work, things would be much simpler.
In reality, erythropoietin stimulants (ESAs) are drugs that can improve athletic performance, and are therefore banned by all sports associations. This study was originally intended to treat anemia.
The artificial synthesis of Erythropoietin doesn't require Black Super itself. Amgen Pharmaceuticals has been conducting related research since the 1980s and has achieved remarkable results.
Having previously "visited" Amgen, Black Super was intimately familiar with the manufacturing processes. Since he wasn't planning to use it for commercial purposes, Black Super comfortably began operating the process for the artificial synthesis of Erythropoietin.
Regarding the reducing agent, Black Super started purifying the garlic extract, trying to identify which component could restore Blade's cells to their original state.
At first, Black Super had the leisure to explain to the two audience members why he was doing what he did.
As he got into the swing of things, Black Super's movements became simpler and more efficient, and he no longer used a microscope to fake movements. Whether a certain ingredient was useful or not, he directly used his Super Senses to observe and make a judgment.
