The Only Candidate

"Heh, only I can do that. What a compliment!"

Having been a laborer for so long, Henry was immune to this kind of boss's manipulation tactics. The only thing Henry could do was not to act like some young people and directly lash out.

A truly mature adult knows the art of outward compliance while inward defiance. They agree verbally but do nothing of substance behind the scenes.

When asked, they'd say they were busy, forgot, or didn't know—anyway, there was no recording. Someone who's been tricked a few times will know the pain and, even if they're foolish, won't fall into the same trap again.

Note: This trick is very effective against both bosses and young people.

At work, it's not about who's fiercest or most aggressive, but about who's thick-skinned and shameless. You get your paycheck, and you vent your anger too.

If you're only focused on venting your anger and quitting your job on a whim, you won't find that many jobs to quit.

Wanda seemed to have anticipated Henry's attitude, but instead of continuing to persuade him, she asked, "Have you read the Bible? Whether you're religious or not."

As the most widely distributed book in the world, it's a common sight on the bedside tables of many hotels and inns in the United States and Europe. Henry had certainly read it. He basically read it as a Western fantasy novel, which he found quite captivating.

"So what if I've seen it?"

Wanda said, " In Genesis 18:26, the Lord said, 'If I find fifty righteous men in Sodom, I will be angry with the whole city because of them.'"

"18:29 Abraham then said, 'What if forty righteous men are found there?' The Lord said, 'For the sake of those forty men, I will not Destroy the city.'"

"At 18:30, Abraham said, 'Lord, do not be angry. Allow me to ask one more time: What if only thirty righteous men are found there?' The Lord said, 'Even if only thirty are found there, I will not Destroy the city.'"

"18:32 Abraham said again, 'Lord, do not be angry, but let me ask one last time: what if only ten righteous men are found there?' The Lord said, 'For the sake of those ten, I will not Destroy the city.'"

"So Henry, I want to ask you this: What If...? you only wanted to protect one or two people in this world, would you be willing to save the world? Or do you believe that the destructive power of the Void is far less than God's destruction of Sodom?"

Well, the argument that "the world is about to be Destroy, and there's no way for me to remain unscathed" certainly has a lot of appeal.

"Do you know the current casualty figures in New York?" Wanda asked again.

Henry, of course, shook his head.

Wanda said seriously, "According to Professor X, hundreds of thousands of thoughts have disappeared, which means at least hundreds of thousands of lives have been lost."

"Today you're fleeing New York with the people you care about, so where can you run to next? To the point where civilized world collapses?"

Henry said, "If that Sorcerer Supreme Guardian of the Earth were to make a move, any enemy should be reduced to ashes like chickens and dogs. There's no need for a weakling like me to take action."

"If you're going to be lazy, at least be lazy in a reasonable way. He can just dump his own work on someone else with a few simple words. There are nearly six billion people on Earth, why do they have to come to me, an alien?"

Since he had already admitted his alien identity to the Mutants, Henry didn't really care whether Quicksilver had told his sister or not.

Don't say that the Marvel Cinematic Universe hasn't even begun yet, so no one on the scene can handle the Sentry or the Void. The Sorcerer Supreme is still alive, and Odin, the Guardian of the Nine Realms, is still alive. If the sky falls, these powerful figures should hold it up. Why drag yourself out here?

Let these people do their jobs. Stop just talking big, pretending they're great and have a huge responsibility, when in reality they do absolutely nothing.

Wanda looked surprised and said, "Do you have some misunderstanding about the Sorcerer Supreme? He is merely the Guardian of the magical dimension, protecting the Earth from the metaphysical world."

"Within the rules, he can indeed be said to be supreme, and can even influence or temporarily change the rules to a certain extent."

But What If...? the opponent possesses unreasonable power, he still needs the opportunity to cast a spell.

Stunned by what he'd just said, Henry stammered, "From what you said earlier, the Sorcerer Supreme seems to be a title that can be inherited. So who is the current Sorcerer Supreme?"

"Ancient One, a wise and powerful old woman over five hundred years old."

"He can't handle the Sentry?"

"If he could handle it, would he need to come to you?"

Okay. I had been treating the Ancient One like one of the Three Pure Ones, thinking she was invincible and unbeatable. But in reality, it seems that's not the case.

If you think about it carefully, whether it's the comic book version or the movie version, Dormammu from the Dark Dimension is the Ancient One's nemesis. The fact that Dormammu can live a lively life and make the Ancient One worry about owing him money suggests that the Sorcerer Supreme's abilities have their limits.

Don't spout nonsense like "for the sake of cosmic balance" or "to use Dormammu as a power bank," which is why you can't bear to kill him. If you were truly omniscient, couldn't you find a way to have both and be unparalleled? Refer to our guide to conquering the ultimate protagonist.

Don't mistake him for omnipotent. Compared to ordinary people, the Ancient One is indeed very powerful. But there's always someone stronger, and there's always someone better. This Sorcerer Supreme is just the Sorcerer Supreme.

What about the Guardian of the Nine Realms? The Asgardians, who claim Earth is under their jurisdiction, ignore aliens, yet they don't care about disasters like this one that even the Sorcerer Supreme has to deal with?

Is it really true that Asgard won't act unless Earth is destroyed? Does this mean that based on the Sentry ' feat of tearing Ares apart in the comics, Odin or Thor would likely be easy prey? No wonder the Guardian of the Nine Realms only dare to play dead and not make a move.

Unfortunately, from Henry's "ignorant" perspective, he shouldn't have questioned whether the Northern Europe gods would intervene. He could only consider whether he himself should step in.

With a helpless sigh, Henry could only ask, "Didn't you consider asking Genosha Island for help? Magneto more reliable than me, isn't he? Besides, there are plenty of talented Mutants out there. Can't you find a suitable human shield?"

Henry almost called out, "Go find Wolverine, go find Colossus! What do you want with me?"

Wanda said, "Do you know how long it takes to go to Genosha Island and bring the necessary fighting force back to the East Coast?"

At least one day. There is no proper airport on Genosha Island, so you will have to transfer at a nearby U.S. military airfield.

"The nearest airport is in Djibouti in North Africa, and then in Saudi Arabia in the Middle East. You have to transfer to a helicopter from these places to land on Genosha Island."

"Otherwise, we'll have to rely on the X- X-Men's Blackbird Jet's vertical takeoff and landing capabilities. Thanks to Mystique's tough stance, if the X-Men's Blackbird dared to fly towards Genosha Island, the U.S. military would suspect that the Mutants were planning to take advantage of the situation to cause trouble."

"Even now, no one has a clear understanding of the power of the Void. All they know is that with a wave of his hand, life in an area can vanish. In other words, the numbers I mentioned earlier are still expanding even now, at night."

"When the U.S. military's planned offensive begins tomorrow, you can imagine how much it will escalate. They haven't even considered proactively evacuating New York; instead, they blindly believe they can handle everything."

Henry said ruthlessly, "People won't admit they're facing a wall until they've hit a brick wall themselves. Perhaps this will make the U.S. military deeply understand that the Super-Soldier Serum can create more than just Captain America. Don't you think that's a good thing?"
