Blurred Memories

Early in the morning, Kitty, who somehow managed to unlock the door, jumped onto the bed and started dancing, waking up the sleeping Kryptonian once again.

When Henry slept alone, Henry never drew the curtains. In the morning, the Sun Pharma would stream in through the window, allowing the Kryptonian to enjoy a free sunbath.

Unlike in the past, the circumstances under which I was woken up today were somewhat unusual.

Henry wakes from a nightmare, his mind conjuring up an incredibly realistic battle. He's dressed in Superman's classic suit, battling Marvel's most powerful Sentry...

Two different memories lingered in my mind, intertwined and conflicting.

The Super Brain lived up to its name, quickly sorting out the problems with memory in its mind.

Henry didn't simply categorize a memory as a daydream or wild imaginings; rather, he felt as if he had truly lived two very different lives.

One phase of my life was spent with Charlize Theron by my side, culminating in a final battle with the Sentry. The other phase was a period of remaining single since birth, and today I'm sleeping in until I naturally wake up.

What If...? another piece of evidence, Henry might have even wondered if he was schizophrenic.

Oh no, I should say he's already had a split personality. But the previous symptoms were just latent, requiring a trigger to bring out the other personalities. Now they've become overt, and daily life feels like two different people living different lives.

The major reason I was able to exclude a certain memory was that my Kryptonian eyes were half-ruined!

It could observe at the molecular level, had X-Ray Vision vision, and could emit Heat Vision from its eyeballs—all of these abilities are gone now.

Saying it's all gone might be inaccurate. It's more like being paralyzed on one side of the body; although the legs are still there, one cannot walk. Similarly, although the eyeballs are still there, all the abilities gained from the Kryptonian irradiating the Yellow Sun have been lost.

Even his eyesight has deteriorated severely. Now Henry is experiencing the feeling of being nearsighted again, his vision has probably dropped to 0.8...

For ordinary people, this is somewhere between being able to wear glasses for correction or not being able to go without, but for Henry, who has been living with Krypton eyes for more than eight years, it is quite unusual.

This wasn't a loss of ability, but rather a side effect of severe organ damage. The evidence was the unbearable swelling in his eyes, as if a pale red filter was over his retina; Henry certainly didn't consider this normal.

Both arms were intact, and there wasn't a single wound on his body. It was as if the memory of the Sentry War was fake, which was why he didn't have the injuries he remembered.

So what's going on with the eyeballs?

In my ordinary daily memories, I don't recall ever having my eyes so damaged.

The memory of the Sentry War explains the cause of the eye injury: he sacrificed his eyeballs to unleash a ray that killed the Sentry and... Phoenix?

Without even considering whether the injury would heal, Henry thought of another problem.

Where is my girl?

He quickly got out of bed and changed into simple casual clothes. Without even having time to prepare breakfast for Kitty, he ran upstairs and started banging on a door.

"Who is it? It's so early in the morning, so Deadman!" Rubbing her sleepy eyes, the woman who answered the door opened it without any warning.

This was the girl's roommate, an administrator at a trading company. When she saw Henry knocking, she was startled and slammed the door shut, not wanting her unmade-up face to appear before a young man.

Through the door, the female roommate called out loudly, "Um... what's up?"

Has Charlize returned?

"Charlize? Who?" The woman opened the door again, revealing a crack, and looked at Henry through the gap. She asked, "You... you haven't come to the wrong door, have you?"

"No, Charlize Theron, your roommate. Isn't she back yet?"

As Henry asked this question, he suddenly remembered that the girl should be filming in Australia right now, how could she possibly be home!

Just as Henry was about to apologize and find an excuse to end the misunderstanding, he heard an unbelievable reply.

"My roommate? My only roommate is Millie, and she's been working at the bakery for ages. Where did Charlize Theron come from? And who is she?" The woman opened the door a little wider, looking completely bewildered.

Resisting the urge to barge in and run to Charlize Theron's room to confirm that the girl was just joking, Henry politely stepped back, saying, "Sorry, I must have misremembered. Looks like I was still half asleep."

"Oh, is that Charlize Theron you're talking about the actress who was all the rage last year? You didn't stay up too late watching her movie last night and had a wet dream that you thought it was real, did you?" The woman looked like she'd heard some gossip and boldly opened the door a little wider.

Henry slapped his forehead, forced a smile, and said, "Oops, you caught me."

The woman simply swung the door wide open, leaned against it, struck a seductive pose, and said, "Actresses can only be seen on screen after all. Why not focus your attention on the people you can touch right next to you?"

"I apologize for my abruptness. But it doesn't seem like a good time to bother you so early in the morning. I apologize." Henry took another step back, looking embarrassed, and pointed to his hair.

It wasn't that Henry's hair was messy; rather, the woman who opened the door had her long hair disheveled all night. It was a complete mess right after she woke up.

The woman, who was playing with the ends of her hair with her fingers, suddenly realized what kind of ghost she should look like. She let out a scream and slammed the door shut.

Henry left, trying to figure out what was going on in the world before him.

First, I checked the situation at home. Everything was as I remembered... No! There was one difference: the digital camera equipment used to help the girl practice her acting was gone.

The rest consisted of items previously confiscated by the FBI, transferred to Sony, and rebuilt after Sony destroyed the robot. This included BB, the core robot system for cleaning and feeding, as well as the corresponding multi-purpose arm parts.

The butcher, who delivered Kitty's day's worth of feed early in the morning, also begged to pet the Tiger. Henry still didn't dare to agree.

The dormitory windows and the walls around the window frames are new, a testament to how the SWAT team, posing as FBI S.H.I.E.L.D., broke through the windows to escape during their raid. This suggests that the incident was indeed true.

However, the only signs of life in the room were those belonging to him. There was no toothbrush, some simple clothes, or her tableware left there by a girl.

Everything in that memory felt like an illusion. That longed-for, warm embrace suddenly seemed unreal.

Ignoring what the Kryptonian was holding a piece of warm flesh, was thinking, Kitty gnawed on Henry's calf, trying to tell him that she was hungry!
