Mutants' Predicament

After catching his breath, Black Super continued, "To reshape the order, you must break the old order. Do you think those currently in high positions, even if they become Mutants, will willingly relinquish power?"

When traditional privileged families can no longer guarantee the continuation of their lineage and the inheritance of their wealth, being born with a silver spoon in one's mouth becomes a joke in the new era. What will they do to maintain their privileges?

"This will be a cataclysmic event. Magneto, are you ready? Don't expect any compromises; it will inevitably end with one side being completely annihilated."

"Is this really the change you want? More Mutants deaths, and not in the childish way like the X-Men and the Brotherhood of Mutants."

The seasoned Magneto is certainly not comparable to a young upstart like Tony Stark. He's been through thick and thin, seen all sorts of dirty tricks, and Black Super's outbursts couldn't intimidate him.

Magneto retorted righteously, "What's wrong with that? Only the strong can protect more people."

When the weak seize power, what can they accomplish? Simply hold their positions without contributing anything, engage in corruption and bribery?

"I once chose Professor X's path, choosing to compromise with ordinary humans in the world and lead Mutants to Genosha Island in Africa to establish their last home."

"But doing so only results in increasingly stronger constraints. Our concessions only encourage humans to take advantage of us. Genosha Island is not a home for Mutants, but a graveyard."

"We're like the Deadman, abandoned by the whole world in that cesspool! The reason those in power were willing to carve out an island for Mutants to live on is actually to let us fend for ourselves."

"They cut back on all the supplies they could provide, yet kept sending people in. I did everything I could to get my compatriots to grow food and produce all sorts of necessities. But we still lacked food and medicine."

"Even our means of transportation to and from Genosha Island are controlled by outsiders. What If...? we don't rely on our own abilities to move around, it means we have to depend on others for even our trade with the outside world."

"Can you imagine? In the last period before I led a group of people away from Genosha Island, we actually had children starving to death. A selfish adult stole a child's food and took a life."

"Although that guy received the punishment he deserved, everyone knows that if we don't change things, that place will become a terrifying Hell."

Knowing how these people in power treat us, do you think it's necessary for me to take a risk and gamble?

This isn't about fighting for power and profit; it's about how even our most basic survival is being challenged.

This new news certainly shocked Black Super. But upon closer reflection, it's not entirely unexpected.

When the population of a region exceeds the carrying capacity of the land, it is followed by wars or famines caused by the uneven distribution of resources, in order to reduce the population to a number that nature can sustain. These are lessons from history.

The Mutants population on Genosha Island does not grow according to a natural growth curve. This is because many of them are immigrants, whether Mutants were sent to Genosha Island voluntarily or involuntarily.

What If...? the island's development follows the outdated production conditions that Black Super years ago, without any progress, then problems are inevitable.

If Magneto could just drift through life, he would probably be content to be Erik Lehnsherr, living out his days as chief on that island.

But with signs of famine and loss of control emerging, simply transporting ship after ship of grain to Genosha Island probably won't solve the problems that are now arising. No wonder he's so old, yet he still has to bring a bunch of underlings out to make his way in the world.

The only saving grace was that there were quite a few thugs gathered outside. It wasn't like the miserable scene in the movie X-Men, which was closest to this point in time, where he only had Mystique, Sabretooth, and Toad as his henchmen.

The Black Super sighed and said, "Don't you think that Genosha Island's situation is something that the Mutants society you build in the future will also encounter?"

"Look at that bunch of Mutants you've brought outside, what a bunch of grotesque creatures. I'm not criticizing their appearance, but their brain capacity. I doubt most of them even understand Mutants (M...)."

I can't even spell "utants".

"As I walked in, all the people I saw looked like a bunch of off-duty workers with nowhere to go, so they were gathered in bars, living a life of debauchery. Nobody thought about studying, nobody thought about helping you share your burdens, or breaking through the current predicament of Mutants."

"I don't know if Genosha Island is the same as what I saw seven years ago. Are you still using those very primitive methods to grow crops and manage people's affairs?"

"Or have you truly adopted Professor X's philosophy so thoroughly that you've forgotten your Mutants abilities and are only using your bare hands to dig for food? Has no one thought about how to convert your mutant abilities into productivity?"

"Do you know that you have the ability to control magnetic fields? If you find the right method, you can produce clean energy indefinitely. With energy, even if you don't build a complete modern civilization, you can at least build a basic system for people's livelihood."

"What abilities do the others have? What can they do? Or do you just divide Mutants into two categories: strong and weak, and then use your own people as laborers? Looking at these people, do you think Mutants have a future?"

"You don't really believe that the ruling class that built modern society is full of good-for-nothings who only know how to talk and have no ability whatsoever. You could do it yourself. Isn't Genosha Island, this experimental ground, enough to make you see the truth?"

Magneto said unhappily, "Don't I understand? I understand, I understand better than anyone else. But the reality is that if we don't leave Genosha Island and seek change, everyone on the island will die."

"Even if we take a chance and end up with the same result, at least we'll have more time to adapt and change. What If...? you were in this situation, what choice would you make?"

This is like someone with no other options taking a desperate gamble; can you persuade them to come back? No.

Magneto added angrily, "And do you know what kind of bills members of U.S. Congress are currently drafting?"

Mutant Registration Act.

"They want to register and record the identities and abilities of all Mutants across the country. They even consider researching mutant abilities a legitimate project."

"You think it's nothing, just registration, it's not like you'll lose a hair or a leg. But this is just the first step. I know all too well what they'll do next."
