American Police, Better Late Than Never
Effective suppressive fire and swift action—all signs indicate that the third group entering the arena was far more experienced than the rookie shooters they had encountered before.
Tony wanted to stop the other man, but hiding behind the flowerbed, he was clearly being suppressed by the occasional bullets. If Henry hadn't intervened, he would have been shot at least once.
The leader of the shooting team said, "Target taken, we need to get out of here. If we drag this out any longer, the police will be here. You don't want to deal with the LAPD, do you?"
A flustered gunman said, "What about the witnesses here? Should we silence them forever?"
"Come on, the employer chose this occasion to set an example and warn others. You've killed everyone, who are you warning? Besides, you know the difficulty of this bounty. If any of these young masters dies, we'll be on the bounty list tomorrow. If you slaughter everyone here, we might not even survive tomorrow."
"Damn it, are we just going to leave like this?"
"Don't worry. These young masters are smart enough; they know what to say and what not to say. Even if they don't understand themselves, someone in their family certainly does. What If...? you want to stay and continue to worry about this, then I must take my leave."
"And what about the kill certificate? Let me tell you, my men get half of it. These people were under my control. We also deserve credit."
"The employer will see the news and know we've succeeded. If you want a share, your people will have to get back to the hotel alive. Until then, you shouldn't be wary of me, but of the people coming over now."
The police sirens stopped abruptly, a sign that they had arrived at their destination. Two groups of gunmen fired three rapid bursts of fire into the air, as if to notify the others.
The man who had started the fight shouted towards the flowerbed, "You two heroes who were hiding, we're leaving. As long as you don't jump out and stop us, we can all be at peace. Okay?"
"This damn house..." Tony tried to stand up again, but Henry pulled him down again, and then two familiar shots flew over his head.
"Damn it!" Tony cursed.
Knowing full well he wasn't bulletproof, Tony Stark obediently hid behind a flowerbed this time, until a group of people entered, shouting, "LAPD, drop your weapons. Hands up!"
Henry threw away the empty gun early on and raised his hands.
Tony was simple. He also dropped his gun, half-raised his hand, and said, "I am Tony Stark, and I am also a victim. I need a lawyer to be present before I will say anything."
With a son of an extremely wealthy family leading the way, Henry suffered virtually nothing. He simply couldn't leave until Stark Industries ' lawyers arrived.
In addition to police cars, ambulances and FBI personnel also arrived at the scene. However, the largest group consisted of Stark Industries security personnel, who simply lacked law enforcement authority.
After all, the people involved in the case are all of unusual status and position. Moreover, it is difficult to say whether these people are in the position of perpetrators or victims, and which position is more difficult for these law enforcement officers.
Even seasoned LAPD officers were bewildered by this. For the police, simply being rich and being a celebrity are not the same thing.
Because the latter may not necessarily be rich, and even if they are, they worry about damaging their reputation, while the former do not have so many concerns. It is conceivable that celebrities have far more vulnerabilities than simply wealthy people.
If celebrities get together for a party, even if there's blasphemy, gun violence, or even a fatality, there will always be a PR firm to cover it up and package the incident properly.
If a singer has an accident, they might release a commemorative album or hold a commemorative concert. If an actor has an accident, classic films might be re-released in theaters. Regardless of the type of star, merchandise sales will inevitably surge.
It's fair to say that the death of a celebrity creates business opportunities everywhere, even if it's just one last chance to profit.
Even if it's just a building collapse, the freed-up resources can be used for other people. Even previous investments can be recovered or transferred in countless ways. The only thing that suffers a loss is the "goods" themselves.
Therefore, when celebrities get into trouble, aside from disappointing fans, it's a commercial frenzy. The police just need to cooperate; they're the least important link in the chain.
But today's incident involves a group of wealthy young men, which makes the situation completely different for the police.
Whether to prosecute severely or let it go leniently depends on the police's inability to make a judgment without clarifying the identities of the victim and the perpetrator. Even more seriously, sometimes verifying identities is a taboo subject...
So when the FBI got involved, the head of the LAPD happily handed the problem over to them.
Despite the increased level of responsibility, the trouble for the Stark Family's son has actually decreased. FBI agents are more adept at handling matters at their level, while the junior police officers are often at a loss.
So at this moment, Henry and Tony, under the protection of Stark Industries security personnel, sat in the back door of an ambulance, being examined for possible wounds, while a large, black paramedic handled them.
The two watched as police and FBI personnel bustled about, while other paramedics worked to treat the injured, as if it were a theatrical performance.
Those confirmed dead will remain at the scene until the sampling personnel finish collecting evidence, at which point the bodies will be moved.
No police came to question Tony; the young master had made it clear he was waiting for his lawyer, so the police certainly wouldn't want to bother him.
They mainly questioned the staff of the banquet companies, who don't have the luxury of hiring lawyers so readily. It's important to clarify the course of events and filter out the relevant individuals beforehand.
Compared to Tony Stark, who seemed completely unfazed by the busy work of the police and FBI Agent, Henry was utterly bewildered.
The main problem was that he was soaking wet as he ran around with Tony. Although he shook off a lot of water in the process, his clothes were all wrinkled, and he looked incredibly disheveled.
Looking at his temporary ally's disheveled state, Tony Stark suddenly asked, "Why did you help me?"
"Why should I help you?" Henry looked bewildered, not understanding the point of the question.
Tony said, "You see, most of the people we rescued chose to run away if they had the chance. You didn't play a big role, but you stayed until the end. Speaking of which, this is our third time meeting, isn't it?"
You didn't do much good! You Krypton! You bastard! Without me covering for you, you'd have a lot more holes in your body. Don't you know that?
Before Henry, whose expression had slightly changed, could answer, Tony asked again, "By the way, shouldn't you still be filming a movie? I remember filming that movie isn't finished yet."
