Background & History
At age seven, Qing Junce was already defeating much older opponents in basketball. During this period, he discovered the System in his mind, which displayed his Aomine Daiki Template and its integration progress. His childhood friend Shimizu Kanon regularly watched his games and had to pull him away from the court when it was time to go home. 1
The Qing and Shimizu families were longtime neighbors and business partners. Their move to Hokkaido was prompted by the expansion of the families’ company, and Qing Junce and Kanon relocated there together. 1
Qing Junce spent the following nine years playing outdoor basketball in Hokkaido against opponents of all ages. He briefly overwhelmed five players during a tryout but declined to join the club after the experience became unpleasant; instead, he continued refining his game through streetball. These matches rapidly raised his Template integration to 99%. 2
After returning to Kanagawa at sixteen, he enrolled in Shohoku High School. Kanon submitted his basketball-club application for him, bringing him into contact with Akagi Takenori, Rukawa Kaede, Sakuragi Hanamichi, and Coach Anzai Mitsuyoshi. 3 5
Appearance
Qing Junce is a tall, athletic teenager whose deceptively sleepy demeanor contrasts with the predatory pressure others sense from him. He wears Shohoku’s number 9 jersey during matches. 13 149
- Green hair and green eyes; some later scenes describe his eyes as blue. 2 118 149
- 192 cm and 85 kg at sixteen; later recorded at 195 cm and 86 kg. 2 189
- Often has half-closed eyes, yawns, or picks at his ear, reinforcing his lazy appearance. 5 20 149
- His awakened Wildness manifests as a jet-black panther-like aura. 65 66
Personality
Qing Junce is outwardly lethargic, blunt, and easily bored. The Aomine Template’s influence contributes to his listlessness and tendency to see most opponents as too weak to warrant effort; he consciously tries not to lose himself to that influence. 2 30
His confidence often becomes arrogance. He dismisses weak challengers, taunts opponents, and initially considers passing unnecessary because he trusts basketball in his own hands more than his teammates. 28 31 115 This isolationist approach concerns Coach Anzai, who warns that Qing Junce’s talent has begun limiting his growth and his enjoyment of the sport. 46 70
Despite this, Qing Junce is drawn to challenge. Strong opponents such as Maki Shinichi and Sawabe Eiji reignite his competitiveness, while the Kainan match restores his earlier passion for basketball. 65 66 179 He can even deliberately restrain himself to push an opponent’s potential further, a habit Kanon calls “cultivating” his opponent. 177
Abilities & Skills
Aomine Daiki Template
Qing Junce’s System-based character template is the foundation of his physical talent, basketball instincts, and later Zone access.
- Reached 99% integration through Hokkaido streetball before joining Shohoku. 2
- Initially caused lethargy and emotional detachment toward basketball. 2 30
- Reached 100% integration after Qing Junce accepted the Template rather than resisting it. 72 73
- The System appears to function primarily as a status panel and does not provide direct instruction. 30
Super-high-speed Dribbling
Qing Junce dribbles at speeds opponents struggle even to perceive, combining abrupt acceleration, instant stops, crossovers, spins, and changes of direction.
- Steals from and scores against Rukawa Kaede before Rukawa can react. 8
- Escapes Shoyo’s triple-team by exploiting a tiny opening created through his stopping ability and body positioning. 52
- Breaks through Sawabe Eiji and Matsumoto Minoru by accelerating from a standstill after releasing the ball between them. 96
- Enables rapid transitions from defense to fast-break scoring. 38 140
- Cannot be meaningfully copied through movement alone; it requires Qing Junce’s exceptional speed and agility. 115
Formless Shots
Qing Junce can shoot from unconventional angles, positions, and body orientations without a fixed shooting form.
- Converts a diagonal, off-balance shot after being fouled by Miuradai’s Naito Tetsuya. 29
- Scores while twisting through Kainan’s defense and shooting from an awkward airborne position. 66 67
- Uses the backboard twice in succession to score against Sawabe Eiji and Akita’s defense. 175
- Depends on the speed and intent behind his movements; imitation without those foundations leaves openings. 115
Black Panther Wildness
Qing Junce’s Wildness manifests as a Black Panther, amplifying his predatory pressure, speed, and court presence.
- Is recorded as awakened before his enrollment at Shohoku. 2
- Fully emerges during the match against Kainan, overwhelming Maki Shinichi and mentally exhausting Kainan’s players. 65 66
- Creates intense fear and hesitation in opponents, including players who attempt to challenge or intimidate him off the court. 19 118
- His Wildness is portrayed as substantially stronger than the Wildness displayed by the Hokkaido streetball challenger, Sendoh, and Sawabe Eiji. 115 119
Zone
The Zone is Qing Junce’s highest documented state of concentration and ability.
- Remained Semi-Awakened while his Template was stuck at 99%. 30
- Fully awakened when Template integration reached 100%. 73
- Later develops into a Self-Awakened Zone. 189
- Even before activating Wildness or the Zone, Qing Junce can outpace opponents using Wildness, as demonstrated against Sawabe Eiji. 185
Defense and Court Reading
Qing Junce is not solely an offensive scorer; he uses speed, anticipation, and pressure to erase drives, intercept passes, and turn defensive possessions into immediate scores.
- Blocks Sendoh’s fast-break layup and matches him in Shohoku’s ace-versus-ace confrontation. 15
- Shuts down Mine Kenta, evades a screen, steals the ball, and scores in transition. 38
- Prevents Morishima Ryoshi’s fast break with a chase-down block, then scores after the steal. 140
- Blocks Morishige Hiroshi’s dunk in mid-air and changes the ball’s trajectory with a wrist flick. 142
- Repeatedly disrupts Akita’s offense through steals and full-court pressure. 186
Relationships
- Shimizu Kanon — Childhood friend and closest companion. Their families are longtime partners and neighbors; Kanon routinely manages his schedule, gathers opponent information, and understands his unconventional strategies. 1 15 177
- Anzai Mitsuyoshi — Shohoku’s coach. Anzai recognizes Qing Junce as the greatest talent he has seen, but urges him to rediscover his love of basketball and learn to rely on teammates. 5 70
- Rukawa Kaede — Teammate and persistent rival. Qing Junce defeats Rukawa in their initial duel and rematch, motivating Rukawa to continue pursuing his level. 8 20
- Akagi Takenori — Shohoku captain and teammate. Akagi initially resents Qing Junce’s arrogance and lack of punctuality, but gradually trusts him with high-risk passes and recognizes his value. 13 38
- Sakuragi Hanamichi — Teammate and frequent antagonist. Sakuragi senses danger from Qing Junce immediately and regularly reacts with jealousy or anger to his provocations. 2 25
- Sendoh Akira — Rival ace from Ryonan. Their first official matchup establishes Qing Junce as a threat, and Sendoh later joins Sawabe Eiji in a 2-on-1 streetball challenge against him. 13 15 119
- Maki Shinichi — Kainan’s ace and one of the first players to expose a weakness by blocking Qing Junce near the basket. Their match helps rekindle Qing Junce’s competitive passion. 61 65
- Sawabe Eiji — Major rival from Sannō/Akita. Qing Junce is intrigued by Sawabe’s development, intentionally holds back to cultivate him, then ultimately overwhelms him when he releases more of his strength. 93 177 185
- Morishige Hiroshi — Powerful Meiho Industrial center. Their confrontations pit Morishige’s size and strength against Qing Junce’s speed, aerial control, and unconventional scoring. 140 142
Story Role / Major Arcs
Hokkaido Streetball Years
Qing Junce builds his reputation by defeating opponents across Hokkaido, including entire groups and repeated challengers. His prolonged exposure to weaker competition contributes both to his rapid Template integration and to his growing boredom with basketball. 2 114
Joining Shohoku
Kanon brings Qing Junce into Shohoku’s basketball club. He immediately establishes himself as a dominant newcomer by overwhelming older players and decisively defeating Rukawa Kaede in one-on-one play. 5 6 8
Prefectural Tournament
Qing Junce becomes Shohoku’s primary momentum changer against Ryonan, Miuradai, Tsukitake, Shoyo, and Kainan. His solo style repeatedly saves the team, but also creates tension with teammates and concern from Anzai over the team’s dependence on him. 13 29 46 52 66
Template Completion and National Tournament
After reaching 100% Template integration and awakening the Zone, Qing Junce enters the National Tournament with a renewed sense of purpose. He overwhelms Toyotama, confronts Sannō’s Sawabe Eiji, and becomes widely recognized as the nation’s strongest high-school player. 73 82 93 153
Kanagawa Representative Matches
As part of the Kanagawa representative side, Qing Junce continues to dominate elite opposition. Against Akita, he initially restrains himself to force Sawabe Eiji’s growth, then turns the game into a rout once he decides Sawabe has disappointed him. 168 177 185 186
Notable Quotes
“The only one who can defeat me is ‘myself’.” 73
“You’ve truly disappointed me.” 185
Trivia
- Qing Junce has no particular attachment to jersey number 9; it was simply the remaining Shohoku uniform available when he entered against Ryonan. 13
- He refused Green Wind’s implied recruitment opportunity largely because he was “too lazy to change schools.” 156
- Kanon’s nickname for him, “A-Ce,” has been used since childhood. 1
