Divine Hierarchy
| Rank / State | Defining traits | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| False God | A being with Divinity but limited power and incomplete foundation. | A False God from a Dead World may be only marginally stronger than an ordinary creature; inherited Divinity can make one stronger than most False Gods. 880 |
| Demigod | Condenses Divinity and undergoes a qualitative increase in life and power. | Divine Power reserves, faith, and authority still determine actual combat capability. 1606 1623 |
| True God | Gathers Divine Fire; divided into five stages. | A third-stage True God can overwhelm False Gods through vastly greater Divine Power efficiency. 1611 |
| Main God | Raises a Divine Kingdom. | A completed Divine Kingdom allows a God to detach from its original world; if the kingdom remains intact, the God is effectively undying. 880 1623 |
| Intermediate Main God | A higher Main God status. | Requires five hundred True God servants and two Primary Main God followers. 1630 |
| Supreme God / God King | Exceptionally high-ranking cosmic Gods. | The human Heavenly Court Palace is led by a Supreme God and includes eighteen top God Kings. 881 |
Nature and Sources of Power
Gods are beings that transcend ordinary life through Divinity, Divine Power, and control over rules. Their strength depends not merely on rank, but on the amount and quality of Divine Power they possess, the rules contained in their Divinity, and the scale of the world supporting them. 862 875
Faith and Divine Power
- Believers are the principal source of a God's usable power; more believers allow greater Divine Power reserves and higher output. 862
- A Forest Statue's records state that roughly 1,500 believers can provide one unit of power. 842
- A God can collect Source Divine Power from followers' faith and loyalty after awakening Divinity. Impure Source Divine Power can create hidden dangers when igniting Divine Fire. 880
- Gods without a stable faith base become severely weakened once their accumulated Divine Power is exhausted. 1489
- Divine Power may also be traded, stored, or purchased. Banks in the Gods' world exchange special tokens for deposited Divine Power, treating it as a practical currency. 882
Rules and Authority
- Divine combat is principally determined by two coefficients: Divine Power and rule power. Their product determines the destructive force of an attack. 875
- Divine Arts can amplify an attack, though their contribution is usually minor unless the combatants' rule levels are drastically different. 875
- The rules carried by Divinity differ by world. Even weak rules from a Large World may exceed the strongest rules of a Small World. 880
- Gods above the True God level begin to possess authority, though this authority may be tied to a particular “small compartment” rather than the Wasteland itself. 502
- A Main God possesses more than 20% of a compartment's permissions and can shelter dependents within it. 502
Divine Territory
A Divine Territory is a space forcibly separated from the original world through Source Divine Power. A God from a larger world generally has a smaller but stronger Divine Territory, while one from a smaller world tends to have a larger territory with more ordinary attributes. Some Gods inherit a predecessor's Divine Territory instead. 847
Divine Kingdom
A Divine Kingdom is a world prototype constructed with Divine Power and supplemented by plundered rules. As it becomes more complete, it feeds power back to its God. 880
- Raising a completed Divine Kingdom allows a God to leave the world where they attained godhood. 880
- A Divine Kingdom's destruction can reduce its God to near-collapse; Lance lost almost all of his former capability after his Divine Kingdom and people were destroyed. 1450
- Materials and Divine Kingdom Seat Talismans can enable a third-step True God to advance rapidly into a Primary Main God. 1630
Paths to Godhood
| Method | Process | Limitations / Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Borrowing Divinity | Establish a connection with Divinity left by a dead God, gaining its attached permissions. | The recipient initially has “a handgun without bullets”; Divine Power is still required to use the authority. 1412 |
| Faith to Become God | Gather faith, ignite Divine Fire, and cast Divinity. | The most common cosmic method; it requires a sufficient population and a means to collect faith. 1412 |
| World Will bestowal | A World Will directly grants permissions and Divine Power. | Adam used this method to create Gods among the Butterfly Universe's first-generation humans. Route-level advancement is described as a variation of this path. 1412 |
| Blood Sacrifice | Uses sacrificed lives to form temporary authority and force ascension. | Temporary authority eventually dissipates; the practitioner falls back to their prior realm and cannot advance further. 1608 |
Limitations
- Gods are not invulnerable. A descended true body can have strict time limits, physical weaknesses, delayed attacks, and restrictions on its targets. 186
- The Tengu Ancestral God's descended body was limited to sixty minutes, could attack only one target once through a physical strike, required roughly three minutes to prepare that strike, and had a vulnerable point at the center of its forehead. 186
- Gods from outside a world may be weakened by world barriers, limited rule access, or insufficient Divine Power. 423 1489
- Higher rank does not automatically guarantee victory if a God lacks Divine Power reserves, effective techniques, or a stable faith foundation. 1609
- Formations can compensate for differences in authority: the Seven Stars Formation shares Divine Power and pressure among its members, while the Heaven and Earth as One Formation concentrates all power into one bearer at the risk of fatal collapse. 1622
Society and Economy
The Gods' world is stratified by strength, world origin, and background. Small World Gods commonly seek the protection of stronger Great World Gods by becoming subordinate Gods. 882
- The City of Gods at the Ma Nan Tree serves as a settlement and trading center for Gods. Its nine layers require both strength and approved background to access higher levels. 882
- Goods traded by Gods usually contain Divine Power and attribute rules, although many lower-level items carry restrictions that prevent their use in Super Worlds. 882
- Divine Power banks operate across star regions and charge storage fees; the Jade Spring Star Region bank charges 2.25% per Cosmic Era. 882
- Gods may enslave weaker beings or sell them as property; Lance states that the Curse Tiger Ancestor God sold his people after conquering them. 882

History
Human Gods of the Earlier Wasteland
The first human God recorded in the Wasteland's earlier history was Wei Jun, the God of Courage. His rise convinced many human Players that ascension was possible, accelerating humanity's expansion and the growth of human divine positions. 465
This expansion also produced Gods of Slaughter, War, Desire, Terror, Malice, Death, Undead, and Plague. Within twenty Wasteland years, human Gods reportedly exceeded 35% of all Gods in the Wasteland, while human Players treated their conflict with native beings as a simulation rather than a true war. 465
Descent of the Five Great Ancestor Gods
The Five Great Ancestor Gods descended as avatars behind the Five Great Royal Clans. Their arrival was initially treated as an overwhelming threat, as a God could ordinarily destroy any clan lacking a True God. 423
Their purpose was ultimately revealed as the seizure of the Wasteland, a damaged but defenseless Super World. By invading and controlling it, they sought to elevate their own levels and gain the benefits of a Super World's Divine Power and rules. 862 876
Human Resistance and the Ocean God
Humanity produced the Gods of Hunting, Music, and Wine as temporary defenders supported by the World Core. Although they were initially called Gods by humanity, Lance judged them to be containers for Divine Power using shattered Small World rules. 864
When the Ancestor Gods descended in full, Moore and Oreo resisted them with World Core support. Their lower Divine Power reserves were offset by their access to the Super World's rules and home-field advantage. 875
Su Mo later revealed himself as the Ocean God, intervening against the Curse Tiger Ancestor God and negotiating the survival of the remaining Ancestor Gods after their alliance collapsed. 876 878
Global Gods Era
Su Mo later considered establishing a regulated Global Gods Era. His aim was to divide godhood into manageable stages, connect Route development to divine advancement, and prevent humanity from repeating the unchecked abuse of power seen in the earlier Wasteland era. 1414
Humanity eventually developed a sustainable god-making model based on technology, territorial development, faith, and precise integration of virtual and real systems rather than relying solely on inherited Divinity or blind worship. 1566
Notable Quotes
“Humans have no Gods, I am one.” — Su Mo 876
“Demigods condense Divinity. True Gods gather Divine Fire. Main Gods raise Divine Kingdom.” 1623
Trivia
- The five Ancestor Gods spoke human languages during their first appearance: the Crystal Dragon, Straw Dog, and Primal Pig ancestors spoke Chinese, while the Curse Tiger and Thunder Monkey ancestors spoke American English. 422
- Gods may be colossal enough to tower more than ten thousand meters over the Wasteland, though they can also shrink their bodies to human scale. 864 878
- The deaths of True Gods release Divine Power, rules, and Vitality Power that can repair damaged worlds, create new landmasses, and increase Spiritual Qi. 1623
