History

The Immortal Stones' Tribulation

Appearing as Lü Chunyang, Ancestor Lu confronts Bai Lu over her unauthorized use of Penglai Star Sand and Cloud-Patterned Robes to aid Qing Shi and Bai Yu's tribulation. He orders her to leave Penglai, while stressing that mortals must follow their own karma unless the Chart of Heavenly Karma is changed. 4

When Chen Tuan arrives with five booklets borrowed from the Lord of Mount Tai, Ancestor Lu receives them for the coming revision of the mortal karma ledgers. 5

Chart of Heavenly Karma

Ancestor Lu reveals that Great Brahma's high immortals have selected Chen Tuan—the sole recent ascendant of the past century—to compile the Chart of Heavenly Karma within ten days. To secure Chen Tuan's cooperation, he provides two thousand spirit stones, a Karma Value Calculator, and the prospect of aiding Chen Tuan's disciples in becoming Penglai cultivators. 6

He orders Chen Tuan and Bai Lu to include Qing Shi and Bai Yu in the chart, first appointing them Penglai Karma Gods and then elevating them to Penglai Immortal Officials after Bai Lu objects to the lower rank. He also warns them that reckless interference with karma contributed to the decline of the Witch and Monster realms. 6

After the chart is completed, Ancestor Lu displays its detailed depiction of the five regions of the human world. He personally arranges Qing Shi's and Bai Yu's mortal opportunities, sending them into the jade pendant's world for reincarnation. 7

Observation of the Mortal Realm

Ancestor Lu later observes Qing Shi and Bai Yu's tribulations through Emperor Donghua's water mirror. He leaves after White Deer Immortal interferes in Bai Yu's life, showing little patience for intervention in mortal karma. 21

He returns alongside the True Martial Great Emperor to observe the human world's karma and continues attending the water-mirror gatherings with visiting immortals and arhats. 29 34 41 43

Despite his sternness, Ancestor Lu has a teasing and temperamental side. He mocks Bai Lu, enjoys naming Chen Tuan's scroll, and becomes enraged when Chen Tuan appears to mock his origins. 4 8
