Background / History

Chen Renfeng was an archaeology professor leading an expedition through the underwater ruins of Fuxian Lake. After discovering a bronze coffin containing perfectly preserved corpses identical to Chen Qing and Bai Xue, he ignored their objections and conducted an unauthorized memory-extraction experiment. The resulting spacetime vortex transported all three into an unknown realm. 1

In the unfamiliar realm, Chen Renfeng repeatedly took responsibility for Chen Qing and Bai Xue. He led them through the memory-reflecting forest, deduced that they had been trapped within the Twin Fish Jade Pendant's small world, and promised to bring them home despite having no immediate means to do so. 2 6 7

When his blood tore open the small world's barrier, Chen Renfeng's body dispersed into particles and his soul entered Chen Tuan's body. Fu Yaozi merged his soul with Chen Tuan's Primordial Spirit through the Law of Reincarnation, granting him Chen Tuan's cultivation legacy, memories, and identity. 8 9 12

Now a Penglai Immortal Official, Chen Renfeng leveraged his knowledge of the Chart of Heavenly Karma to bargain with the White Deer Immortal for the Twin Fish Jade Pendant, which held Chen Qing and Bai Xue. He then sought cultivation manuals, pills, tools, and food supplies to help them survive and cultivate in the small world. 9 10 11

After ten years, Chen Renfeng returned to the small world as a True Immortal and saved Chen Qing and Bai Xue from possession by the Great General's and Princess's Nascent Souls.
