Background and History
Birth and early guidance
Nezha emerged from a large meatball at the Li residence, able to speak, run, and fly immediately after birth. Li Jing deemed him demonic and attempted to kill him, but Jiang Ziya intervened, saved the child, and gave him the name Nezha. 314
Jiang Ziya later delivered the Universe Ring and Chaos Silk, explaining that they had been entrusted by Nezha's unnamed master. As Nezha's Martial Uncle, Jiang Ziya trained him in magic and the use of the Universe Ring. 315
Jiang Chen subsequently protected Nezha from Fire Phoenix and Qing Luan, recovered his Universe Ring, and gave him the Overlord Spear and a pair of Wind Fire Wheels. 318
Conflict with the Dragon Clan
When Nezha's Chaos Silk disturbed the Dragon Palace after being placed in the sea, Ao Bing, Third Prince of the East Sea, confronted him. Nezha wounded Ao Bing with the Overlord Spear. 318
The dispute escalated when Ao Bing returned for revenge. Nezha fought him again and pulled out all of Ao Bing's tendons, leaving the prince near death. In retaliation, the Dragon King of the East Sea flooded Chentang Pass and demanded Nezha's life. 347 349
Li Jing chose to sacrifice Nezha to spare the pass, beating his own son to death after Nezha refused to apologize. 349 350
Resurrection and recovery
Jiang Chen refused to let Nezha remain dead. With Jiang Ziya's aid in summoning Nezha's soul and the people of Chentang Pass building temples to preserve and gather incense for him, Nezha eventually regained consciousness and was resurrected. 351 367 368
The resurrection left him troubled by Li Jing's actions. He remained preoccupied with why his father had killed him, secretly cried over the matter, and struggled to process the trauma even after physically recovering. 368 376 377
Jiang Chen kept Nezha's awakening hidden from Li Jing, while Lady Li supported the decision and continued caring for her son. 370
Barrier backlash and the Snow Lotus
Nezha later erected a barrier to protect others, but its backlash left him severely injured and unconscious. 430 432
Because Nezha is a lotus-root incarnation, the Heavenly Mountain Snow Lotus was needed to restore him. Jiang Chen and Qi Qing secured the last Snow Lotus from Snow Lotus Mountain, then Nezha recovered immediately after consuming it. 439 443 444
Upon recovering, Nezha used the Universe Ring to injure Shen Gongbao. He wanted to pursue the fleeing enemy, but accepted Jiang Chen and Jiang Ziya's warning that doing so could lead him into another trap. He then apologized for his recklessness and thanked Jiang Chen for risking himself to save him. 444 445
Personality
Nezha is fearless and defiant, even when confronting the Dragon King of the East Sea or refusing Li Jing's demand that he apologize. 340 349
His courage can become recklessness. He repeatedly seeks to confront enemies directly, including Shen Gongbao after recovering from his injuries, and must be restrained by Jiang Chen and Jiang Ziya. 444 445
After his resurrection, Nezha becomes more reflective. He writes a diary to cherish his second life, expresses gratitude toward those who cared for him, and recognizes that his past temper caused concern for others. 386 445
