Although Sanders's obstruction was the wisest course of action, if they could not enter, it would be difficult to learn Rosen's current condition.
Angel thought for a moment, then turned to look at Melantha, whom Gloria was supporting.
A strand of Nightmare Illusion aura leaked from Angel's fingertips and struck directly between Melantha's brows.
Melantha had originally been in a state of confusion and terror. Stimulated by Angel's illusion, her gaze seemed to clear slightly, but her eyelids were slowly drooping as well, a sign that her thoughts were gradually growing hazy.
Before she became completely muddled, Angel quickly asked, "Is City Lord Rosen inside?"
Melantha answered blankly, "He is."
"How is he now? Is he... is he still alive?" Angel asked.
Melantha instinctively recalled what she had seen before. At the time, she had stood opposite Rosen, observing the strange darkness on the light screen with him. They had even been discussing what the abruptly appearing void rift was.
But in the next instant, boundless light flooded into the hall where they stood.
Then, Melantha saw only an arrow pierce Rosen's heart... blazing with radiance, followed by a tremendous explosion...
Because of the Nightmare Illusion, Melantha's emotions had temporarily been suppressed. She merely stared blankly, guided by Angel's questions, without thoughts of her own. Yet even so, moisture began to gather in her eyes.
Silently, quietly, without her even realizing it, two streams of tears ran down her face.
"Is he still alive?" Angel asked again, manipulating the Nightmare Illusion he had left between Melantha's brows.
As the Nightmare Illusion spread, Melantha finally spoke again, saying blankly, "I don't know. I only saw his mouth... it seemed to be moving."
Upon hearing this, Angel snapped his fingers. The Nightmare Illusion completely spread through Melantha's surface consciousness. Melantha felt a
