Nuwa is curious, proud, and easily exasperated by Qingxuan’s irreverent thoughts. His unexplained knowledge first attracts her attention, while his private teasing repeatedly threatens her outward composure. She is also playful and forceful: she declares him her Heaven-appointed disciple, then ensures his agreement with an unmistakable demonstration of power 1 2 3.

Her initial interest in Qingxuan’s usefulness develops into genuine affection. She patiently explains cultivation, gives him her inherited technique, and becomes determined to protect both him and the secret of his inner voice. By their extended lessons beside the hot spring, the desire to use him has begun giving way to sincere concern 3 7 8 9.

Her outlook on the Primordial World changes during their travels. Although initially accustomed to the strong preying on the weak, she grows troubled by repeated slaughter and exploitation. Her decision to create humanity becomes more than a route to advancement: she wants a people capable of peace, cooperation, wisdom, and constructive work 37 38.

As Lord of Humanity, she refuses to treat Heavenly Dao authority as justification for injustice. She openly defends Qingxuan, humanity’s independence, and Fuxi’s freedom against the Heavenly Dao Sages 75 126 156.

History

Meeting Qingxuan

Nuwa encounters the newly transformed Qingxuan during the Dragon-Phoenix Tribulation and unexpectedly hears thoughts he has not spoken aloud. She recognizes that the phenomenon is not ordinary telepathy: neither his magical power nor his Primordial Spirit fluctuates. His references to Hongjun, the Heavenly Dao, and her future immediately arouse her curiosity 1.

Qingxuan’s thoughts describe a possible future in which she creates humanity, becomes a Heavenly Dao Sage, and is subsequently constrained by schemes against the Human Dao. Rather than allow him to leave, Nuwa takes him as her first disciple. Their acknowledged master–disciple relationship links their fortunes, giving Qingxuan a direct stake in preventing that future 2 3.

She brings him home and tells Fuxi about his unusual knowledge inside a warded hall. Fuxi’s account of meeting Di Jun and Tai Yi corroborates Qingxuan’s predictions about the Demon Race; the later conclusion of the Dao-Devil War further confirms the reliability of his thoughts 5 9.

Choosing the Hunyuan Path

Nuwa claims the fourth of the six extraordinary meditation cushions at Zixiao Palace. She and Fuxi also notice the suspicious disturbance in Hong Yun’s Primordial Spirit when he relinquishes his seat, recognizing signs of a Saint’s intervention 11.

Despite attending Hongjun’s lectures, Nuwa and Fuxi cultivate through the Primordial Origin Golden Immortal path rather than Slaying Three Corpses. Hongjun notices her choice but still accepts her as his final personal disciple after the third lecture 18 20.

When Qingxuan leaves to seek opportunities, she equips him with the Rivers and Mountains Painting and protective strands of hair. His absence lasts nearly one hundred thousand years. On his return, she is alarmed by his involvement with the Witch Race’s approaching tribulation, but offers her support after hearing his plans 21 30.

Creating Humanity

Nuwa seals away the Primordial Violet Qi rather than allowing it to merge with her Primordial Spirit. Once her Law of Creation reaches perfection, she travels with Qingxuan through the Primordial World toward her opportunity to attain the Dao 34 36.

At the East Sea, their discussion of a less violent, more inventive race gives her a clear purpose. She chooses Qingxuan’s appearance as a reference for beings born in the form of Innate Dao Bodies, then shapes figures from Nine Heavens Breathing Soil. Qingxuan supplies Three Lights Divine Water, providing the spirituality needed to bring them to life 37 38.

Nuwa announces humanity’s creation directly to the Great Dao. When Hongjun demands that she use Primordial Violet Qi, she refuses. Qingxuan withstands the Heavenly Dao’s intervention long enough for the Great Dao to descend and award merit. Nuwa attains Primordial Daluo Golden Immortal, awakens the Human Dao, and becomes the Lord of Humanity rather than a Heavenly Dao-controlled Sage 38 39.

Establishing Creation Heaven

Nuwa and Qingxuan discover the concealed Heavenly Court. She spends a thousand years carefully dismantling its moving formation to avoid damaging her intended Dao Field. After their dispute with Di Jun and Tai Yi, she establishes Creation Palace in the highest heavens and reserves the Thirty-Sixth Heaven as her and Qingxuan’s private territory 43 44 45.

She then offers the Phoenix Race protection in exchange for allegiance. Jin Ning brings the race to Creation Heaven, where Nuwa uses merit to remove its worst karmic obstacles. Later, Qingxuan arranges for Kong Xuan and a hundred Phoenix disciples to enter the Heavenly Court, with Kong Xuan appointed Great Emperor Gouchen 45 46 147.

Defending the Human Dao

Nuwa helps Fuxi and the Three Ancestors of Humanity establish marriage procedures between humans and Witches. The first marriage earns merit from both Heavenly Dao and Human Dao and intertwines the two races’ fortunes 66.

When four Heavenly Dao Sages attempt to stop Qingxuan’s breakthrough, she holds them off alone. Afterward, she invokes her own Dao’s authority to appoint Qingxuan Human Dao Guardian, answering the Heavenly Dao’s attempt to restrict Hunyuan interference 75 76 77.

She subsequently joins Qingxuan and Houtu against the Heavenly Dao during the Witch-Demon conflict. Their confrontation brings the powers of Heaven, Earth, and Humanity into direct collision 103.

Nuwa continues resisting outside control over humanity’s leadership. She tells Fuxi to guide the people rather than determine their leaders for them, helps him recognize reincarnation as a possible path forward, and later rejects the Sages’ attempt to confine him to Fire Cloud Cave 126 128 129 156.

Confronting Hongjun

By the later Shang period, Nuwa and Qingxuan are worshipped together as humanity’s Holy Mother and Holy Father. During this period, she quietly reaches Primordial Limitless Grand Unity Golden Immortal 184 185.

The pair confront Hongjun at Zixiao Palace to stop him from sacrificing the Primordial World for his own advancement. His gray current effortlessly dissolves their attacks, and a finger gale penetrates Nuwa’s defenses, badly injuring her. She continues fighting alongside Qingxuan and Houtu, but their combined resistance leaves her aura unstable and much of her manifested river of mountains and rivers shattered 187 188.
