Background

Shi Yu began as a transformed Tai Xu Shui Yun He pursued by Zhunti and Jieyin. Taiqing of Kunlun Mountain rescued him, refined Mount Fangzhang for him, and accepted him as his disciple. Shi Yu subsequently met Yuanshi and Tongtian, establishing his place within the Sanqing lineage. 2

As Taiqing's first disciple, Shi Yu became the senior disciple brother of the Human Religion and, later, the acknowledged senior disciple brother of Xuanmen's Three Sects. His standing enabled him to mediate disputes between disciples, guide younger cultivators, and coordinate with both the Heavenly Origin Sect and Intercepting Sect. 58 61 63

While exploring Guixu, Shi Yu encountered a prior incarnation of himself and recovered the memories of the Chaos Water Demon God Shi Yu. He then entered seclusion on Taiqing's instruction to refine this inheritance. 151 153
