I Want to Report You to the Hokage

Eiji knew nothing about any of this.

He was sitting in the Security Division's break room, yawning nonstop.

They said that once you started working, you felt like dying every day. Eiji was no exception.

Every day was filled with all kinds of messy, rotten problems, as if they would never run out.

Today, he had finally found some free time to sort out the current situation.

The main quest involving Naruto was progressing slowly. As the two of them grew closer, Eiji had received a few rewards.

But then another problem arose. Eiji had run into Naruto again while on patrol.

The Little Blondie had even pulled a box of limited-edition instant noodles from his backpack and given it to Eiji.

That meant Naruto truly regarded Eiji as a good buddy.

But the progress bar had not increased.

Eiji opened the panel again.

For the time being, they were willing to believe that he possessed the same will as Kagami.

But the Jinchuriki was of tremendous importance. Unless Eiji did something to prove himself, the Hokage would never feel at ease entrusting Naruto to him.

And!

That troublemaker Danzo would have to come out and cause trouble too.

Eiji grabbed his eye-catching white hair and decided that sooner or later, he would kill Danzo.

After silently ranting, Eiji stroked his chin and began thinking about how he could fool the few muddleheaded higher-ups.

Just then, a string of angry curses came from the corridor.

"Hurry up and leave. If the clan head hadn't spoken up, you'd still have to stay in there for another half a month."

Knowing that Fugaku had ordered his release, the fishing-tackle shop owner suddenly became inexplicably bold.

They're scared. They must be scared.

The so-called number-one clan in Konoha is nothing special after all.

"What are you rushing me for? You locked me up for half a month. Shouldn't you compensate me for my losses?"

He counted on his fingers. "Look, I earn five thousand ryo a day. That's seventy-five thousand ryo for half a month. And then there's the emotional distress..."

The owner was still counting when the break room door opened.

Eiji came over slowly, carrying Xiao Er.

"Get lost."

The owner glanced at Eiji and immediately broke into a cold sweat.

He remembered Eiji. That White Hair was the one who had dragged him in.

"You just wait! I'm going to report you to the Hokage right now! I'll have the Hokage arrest every last one of you!"

After making his threat, the owner scrambled away.

He could act tough all he wanted, but he was genuinely afraid that Eiji would beat him up.

"Eiji," Inaho asked in a lowered voice, "what should we do?"

Inaho trusted Eiji deeply now.

Eiji had spent half a month in the Security Division and had fully demonstrated his abilities.

So whenever something happened, Inaho wanted to ask Eiji how it should be handled.

Eiji patted Inaho on the shoulder, indicating that he did not need to worry.

Then he went outside. "Summoning Jutsu."

After the smoke cleared, a completely black eagle appeared on the scroll.

"Xiao Hei, go."

Xiao Hei nodded and vanished from sight with a whoosh.

"What incredible speed!"

There, Eiji clapped his hands.

"I sold all this guy's belongings earlier and made a bit of money. Today, I'll distribute it among everyone."

"It isn't much. Go buy yourselves a bottle of wine tonight."

Meanwhile, the fishing-tackle shop owner had just returned to his shop when he discovered that all the fishing equipment had vanished.

"Ahhhhh! Which bastard stole my stuff?!"

He felt as though his heart were bleeding.

Normally, theft cases were supposed to be handled by the Security Division.

But he had no intention of dealing with them and instead headed straight toward the Hokage Building.

As he walked, he shouted, "Hokage, please give me justice!"

His cries attracted the attention of quite a few people, including Kakashi, who was on duty.

Kakashi was no stranger to this sort of thing.

If no one came to report something every few days, he even felt that something was missing.

The Hokage had also forbidden them from stopping people, saying that they should listen more to the villagers' voices.

Since the Hokage had said so, Kakashi naturally had no desire to meddle in other people's business.

After all, he would not be the one dealing with it in the end.

So he watched helplessly as the owner drew closer and closer to the Hokage Building.

Suddenly, a sharp cry rang out from the sky.

Kakashi looked up and saw an eagle flying in from who knew where.

It dove toward the owner, its powerful talons effortlessly lifting the slightly plump man into the air.

Then it changed direction midair and flew toward the Back Mountain.

"Oh no."

Kakashi rapidly formed hand seals. "Summoning Jutsu."

When the smoke cleared, Pakkun appeared before Kakashi.

"Find that man."

"Yes, Lord Kakashi."

Pakkun sniffed, then sprinted wildly in a certain direction.

Kakashi followed immediately, feeling somewhat worried.

Please don't let him get dropped into the river and drown.

By the time Kakashi arrived, the owner had already been tossed by Xiao Hei onto a tall tree.

"Help! I'm afraid of heights!"

Kakashi shook his head helplessly and rescued the owner from the tree.

"Hurry back. Don't go outside for the next few days."

Seeing the cat-shaped mask, the owner guessed the other man's identity.

"Yes, shinobi."

The fat owner scrambled out of the woods. His most urgent task now was to buy a pair of pants and change into them.

"Lord Kakashi, that eagle is nearby."

"Mm."

Kakashi nodded slightly and followed Pakkun forward.

Sure enough, deep in the woods, they saw the eagle from earlier.

And Eiji, who was barbecuing.

Kakashi was speechless. Why was it this kid again?

"Eiji?"

Eiji raised his head. He and the dog issued a sincere invitation.

"Want some barbecue? This is fresh beef that was delivered today."

"No. I'm working right now."

Eiji shrugged. "That's a real shame."

"Eiji," Kakashi said more sternly, "you shouldn't treat villagers this way. It violates the village's rules."

"I just didn't want these boring people disturbing the Hokage's work. Senior Kakashi, you know how hard the Hokage works every day."

"I don't want to hear your strange excuses. No matter what, we shouldn't attack villagers."

Eiji waved his hand. "All right, all right. I know."

Kakashi sighed beneath his mask and was just about to leave when Little Naruto suddenly emerged from some corner.

"I'm here, Big Brother Eiji! It smells so good... Oh my gosh!"

Naruto was startled badly by Xiao Hei. The bird was even bigger than he was.

"Can I touch it? Its feathers look so pretty."

Eiji glanced at Xiao Hei. Only after he fed it a piece of raw meat did it finally agree with an aloof air.

Naruto extended his hand and carefully stroked Xiao Hei's wing.

Then he touched Xiao Hei's head.

He had petted plenty of cats and dogs, but this was his first time petting an eagle.

Eventually, Xiao Hei could not take it anymore. It let out a shriek and flew into the sky.

"Hahaha!" Naruto clutched his stomach and laughed happily.

Kakashi watched Naruto from a short distance away, an indescribable feeling welling up inside him.

After watching for a while, Kakashi finally spoke to warn Eiji.

"Eiji, be careful. You should know what I mean."

"I understand. Thank you, Senior Kakashi."

Eiji knew what Kakashi meant. Even though the current Hokage trusted Eiji to a considerable extent,

with the constant friction between the Uchiha and Konoha, there was no telling when some unexpected change might occur.

Besides, Danzo and the two advisors had always maintained their hostility toward the Uchiha.

Naruto carefully observed the mysterious shinobi before him. Suddenly, he slapped his forehead.

"I know who you are! I saw you by the river last time! You're the one who wanted to take Big Brother Eiji away!"
