For children, the greatest fun of Christmas was listening to the adults gossip and opening presents.

It was nearly noon. After Charles got up and hastily ate breakfast, he sat on the living-room carpet and began opening the Christmas presents that had arrived over the past few days.

He suddenly noticed that there was an old-looking cloth bag in the pile of gifts that had not been there yesterday. Curious, he opened it first—and instantly lost his composure.

Jack sat on the sofa reading the newspaper and said calmly, "Santa Claus brought it last night, but you weren't awake. He was very disappointed."

Charles learned that Dumbledore, who had specially dressed up as Santa Claus the previous night, had called for him for five minutes, but he simply could not get up. He regretted it terribly.

The night before, he had stayed up all night at St. Mungo's Hospital. Last night, after eating dumplings ordered from a Chinese restaurant with Old Man, he had gone to bed early. He had never expected to sleep so deeply that he would miss Dumbledore dressed as Santa Claus.

By rights, the local Christmas Eve and Christmas dinner should have been turkey, but Charles thought the stuff was simply too awful. The meat was tough, and it was no good stewed either, so he had switched to dumplings.

Charles carefully examined the gift Dumbledore had sent him. It was Dumbledore's Transfiguration notes from his student days, and its academic and collectible value were both extremely high.

After flipping through a few pages, he suddenly sighed.

Jack asked curiously, "What, you're not satisfied? Don't expect me to do everything. I'm not good at teaching and raising children."

Charles shook his head. "No, I'm dissatisfied with the entire wizarding community. It's been nearly a hundred years,
